America is in the heat!

America is having a very serious problem: the heat is tremendous! And the people are getting fried. If this is ominous, then the people must seriously consider cutting down on wastage. Data confirms that America is one of the nations that contribute much to global warming. To our American friends, seek shelter from the canopies of trees, the searing sun could hurt the skin. Stay indoors as much as possible. Don't move much and drink lots of water.

Hi Eileen, I am in Ohio and we have no A/C and our house collects heat very easily..So I have been drinking lots of water, but we also have a small pool and even that isn't cool enough, so tonight we are going to throw in a bag of ice to cool it down...

Oh I did, the ice melted quickly, but cooled off the water enough I didn't feel like I was in a sauna.. Tonight nature cooled us off with some nice rain, so I am sitting here and able to breathe again...

Hi Eileen! I live in Pennsylvania about ten miles outside Philadelphia and it is roasting here but that's nothing new. It was 103 degrees yesterday and we almost always have a few heat waves in summer in the summer just as we almost always have a couple of blizzards in the winter. We cope pretty well. I like to think it's not all that different from the sweltering Wummer of 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was signed and the bitter winter at Valley Forge a few years later. Those guys knew there was something here worth the climate extremes and so do we.

I am glad you have such a positive outlook, irisheyes. My mother is in the West Coast and she is complaining. My aunt is in New Jersey, and she is also complaining, not much for herself but for the five boys under her wing. You are right, there is a season for everything, and by and large, the climate is one people must endure. In the end, it is the land one is blessed with that matters.

I live outside of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania and it has been warmer for longer periods of time than we are used to. We always have a few HOT days, but this year we are getting hot weeks. The humidity has been very high and sometimes that is worse than the heat. I have a/c but don't use it very often. This year I have been using it a lot. I keep thinking in a few months I will be freezing, so I don't really mind the hot weather!

I heard it from the news about a couple of days back too. It's getting too hot and it might set a new record in America since 1950. Hopefully that doesn't happen because it's not going to be good for all of us. The only solution for them now is to drink lots of water, but do cut down on the usage of air-conditioner because it's not worth it. For little while of personal comfort, yet causing long term damages or global warming?

That's frightening to hear. Here in the Philippines it's so hot already and it is sometimes not bearable. It's good to stay indoors and drink lot of fluids for your health. I guess it's a reminder for all of us to manage our wastes or we'll go worser than we are experiencing now.

I have always loved the sun and the rain. I know that they have become harsher towards us because we are not as friendly as we should be.

Hi eileenleyva, Thanks for your concern! I do stay inside most of the time right now. I go out in the evening to go in the pool, but other than that, I stay in my room. I wish there were more trees here, but in most cities the trees are few and far between. In the place I lived before I went to China, there were several large old trees in the yard, but now I don't have that. The only reason the pool is shaded in the late afternoon is because the building is in the sun's way. Have a great week!!!

this heat is pretty crazy on the east coast. i am daily about to pass out on the 10 minute walk to the metro station on my way to work. it is crazy. i like the summer and everything because i was born in the summer but this is pretty extreme. i don't do too well in any extreme weather, so when we had the blizzards during the winter i was pretty upset then too

I have been living through this heat! Luckily the humidity has gone down but I still don't like the hot weather! When I haven't been at work I have stayed home. I have an air conditioner to keep me cool! Work has been a different story! I work in a kitchen at a college and it is very hot in there! We have fans but they do so much! I drank alot of water and gatorade last week! On breaks we can go to cooler part of the building were the kitchen is! I usaully go to the computer lab!

This past week has been completely horrible. I stayed inside with the children as much as possible because I didn't want any of the three of us to have harm because of the heat. However, my husband wasn't nearly as lucky because he had to work and the air conditioning in the office of his shop went out one day last week. With that said, he did make sure that he was drinking as much as possible and taking more frequent breaks than he typically does.

HI eileen leyva: That's totally not hot. In my country it's raining cats and dogs these days but I've found that for now the summer is being terrible on America. America is a nice country but I wouldn't be on your place my American friends by now because I can't stand the heat. It's terrible how the weather has changed in this world. I hope you take care very soon because a heat wave can kill people. It's serious to protect ourselves from these extreme weather seasons. ALVARO

Its sad that that a lot of the problems that are going on in the world are a lot of our own fault. Not just in America mind you, even though given to be one of the most prominent countries in the world, they are going to be one of the most prominent culprits in the world. Obviously something needs to be done, but there is a difference between realizing something needs to be done and something actually getting to be done. Greed tends to be a blinding thing and there is not going to be anyone important enough to step on other important toes. Still there might be someone who may lead the charge every now and again, but obviously, those who do have the power to do anything, will not really do much. And only a minority of those of us who feel something needs to be done will actually try and do something done. This hot weather is a sad state of affairs in the United States and it is just the latest of the horrific weather that is around many parts of the world this year.

I do hope people with find place and solution to endure the heat or find shelter for comfort. You're right America is contrubuting to the global warming. A harsh saying for all human beings living on planet earth which is painfully true 'You reap what you've sown'. We've to make the best of what we can do to restore and find the balance with mother earth. Drink plenty of water do not expose your bodies too much in the sun. Take good care of yourself to remain healthy and strong.

Here in the Philippines it's always warm, and warm here means scorching hot. The best thing that a person can do in this kind of weather is to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Use sunblock to avoid risk of skin disease and drink lots of water to avoid dehydration. It pays to be protected and hydrated.

don't move much... we have jobs! Trees really aren't much help when its 105º (42º C) and many places don't even have trees or the trees are dying from the drought!
