Posts with no responses.

Today, just because, I decided to check on the posts with no responses. I remembered when I was a newbie and had no friends. I posted about my cacti in "gardening" and noone answered. So, once in a while, I see if I can respond to one of those posts. But I couldn´t today. They were either too general, or the post had nothing to do with my interests or they were almost a copy-paste from two posts before or after them. Do you check those posts? Do you answer a couple of them for old time´s sake? Do you get interested in one of them and wonder why noone saw it? Sometimes I have an answer. But today was not one of those days. What´s your experience?

Maybe I should look but I don't. Goodness knows I 've had posts with no responses, but my problem is time, I bearly get through comments and rating on responses on my own posts or those of friends. I try to put a new discussion up each day and don't always make that.

I have given a try to start up discussions, but got a few responses. I thought being a newbie people had no interesti in my topics. So I'm reading and responding to others postings. I'm okay giving comments to others. I read and learn.

It took a while for me to learn to start a post, But besides that, I only make 1 or 2 posts a day at the most. I prefer to answer posts and thn I comment what people answer.

I do go there and try to respond to some of them, although many times I do not find many where I can respond. It does get frustrating when I am searching through pages of "discussions" that are only one sentence, especially when they are also basically repeats of other "discussions". Still, there are times when I find some that I can comment on. Unfortunately, many times I will not get a response to my comment, which does not give me a lot of incentive to keep spending my time trying to respond to a discussion when I am the only responder and still the original poster does not take the time to comment back to me. I would much rather respond to discussions where I know that I usually get a comment back. I wonder whether some of the discussions end up without any responses because people get tired of responding to discussions where there is not any interaction.

A post without any sort of interaction is not a discussion, of course. It would seem we are talking to the walls. I worry about the no response posts, but I don´t like those people who make a thousand posts and never comment on them. Usually I try to remember their names and NEVER get into their game after a while.

I have a couple people on my friends list that seem to be like that - they start a bunch of discussions in one day and do not comment back to any of the responders. If they continue to do this, then I think that I will de-friend them, because it makes it a lot more difficult to find the interesting discussions by my other friends when I have to page through their discussions to find them. Still, I wonder whether or not members realize that they do not earn for responses received on their discussions. Maybe that is why some never go back and comment back to the responses on their discussions. I also never checked, but perhaps some of the users with no responses have given up or do not check their e-mail for notifications. When I respond to discussions with no responses, I try to go back at least a day or two. I would hope that in that time they would not have quit the site, but perhaps they gave up hope about getting a response on their discussion and have forgotten to check back on it.

You are very kind to be so concerned with the new users! You are obviously a serious Mylotter, as confirmed by your ranking! Sometimes I check out the "no responses', but mostly I just view my friends' postings. I wish they would bring back the "news" section, as I also like those postings because they allow for insight into what people are thinking concerning news and current events. Hopefully they will bring it back!

If we give response to a no response discussion then they feel that rain in the desert. We have to give life to them(if they are good).

You are right! And maybe those mylotters, with that life, will write later those king of posts we all want to reply to.

Hi Marguicha Yes I do check them often because I do know some even new and or veteran members discussions could be sitting there. There are some members who start so many in one sitting that some discussions get drowned down into the no response tabs. I do like to take a look and enjoy that after my response it goes up to the recent discussion tab where after a while I return back and can see many more also responding. That surely must make the discussion starter happy as it does me. There are times that I cannot respond but more often I can.

I know what you mean by some possts getting drowned. I´m trying to get away from those members. I´m glad the I know speed reading. But only one in maybe 10 or 20 is worth answering and other poor members´posts are taken to the second or third page in a second.

hi marguicha. i visit old posts too and some still have zero response. when i was still a newbie it's frustrating for me.now i realize that getting response or not is no big deal for me.as long as i have aired some of my thoughts here and i have helped some because of my ideas.

You are right, flagella. But checking once in a while doesn´t take much time and sometimes one finds a jewel.

I have, but generally I find that the really recent ones will soon have responses, you have to go back a way to find really neglected ones...

I seldom go into that tab because most of those discussions were just recently posted and a lot of them were not that interesting the last time I did go in. I might check them out if I have time. Right now, I am trying to catch up on my friends discussions that showed up in my email. Have a great week!!!

Unfortunatly, many of those posts are not interesting. But it is a shame too that some good posts fall in that category just because they got in the middle of posts made by those people that write 20 per day.

hi marguicha! i never really paid much attention to discussions with no responses until you brought it up right now. it is a good idea to actually check this tab out once in awhile especially if there are no other discussions that will interest you. i'll definitely include this in my daily mylot routine... check discussions with no responses!!! thanks for sharing!

hi marguicha! that's the thing, you can never be so sure if you'll stumble upon a good discussion to reply to in that tab (no responses). one would think that these discussions have no responses because of a valid reason. anyway, like they say, the thrill is in the hunt. hope that made sense!

Somedays I feel it´s a loss of time because the posts are not that interesting. But some other days I´m glad I did it, because I find one or two very good posts that just got overlooked by the rest.

i also check no responses but not very often. just like what you have mentioned, there are those that i cannot relate and some that do not really gets my interest. there are also posts that we can pre-judged to get deleted later.

I don´t mean we should answer everyone of the no responses ones, but just take a look once in a while. If we all do that, maybe even the site itself will become more lively!

I used to venture into the ‘no responses’ area and help new members out by getting the ball rolling but these days I have so many notifications from my friends in my inbox that I have virtually no time for anything else. It is a nice thing to do though...

I know that it depends on the time you have, paula. Sometimes you just can´t do more than comment the answers you got and check a bit at your friend´s posts.

When I actually have a lot of time to devote to my mylot activities, I will always try to look at the posts that don't have any responses because I know that it makes a new person feel good to get the first response that they've had on a discussion that they've started. With that said, I haven't really had that much time to spend on mylot lately and that means that I haven't had the time to look at the discussions that new people have started.

Many of them are very boring, but once in a while it´s just a newbie with not enough friends I don´t mean read each one, but maybe browse at them once in a while.

Yeah I do also have a few of those discussions with just 3-4 responses. I really feel sad looking at them too but then I was new and had no friends. I do feel they were interesting topics but I sadly have just a few responses. I deleted some too!!

I also had posts without response and it is okay with me, like you i reviewed them and i saw them as general discussions or some are didn't caught an attention to friends. SOme are boring that really does't have sense.... so funny are the others that even thought i cannot waste my time to write anything to respond them. Well i will try to revised it again one day!

Sometimes, when i am very free and have gone bored answering discussions that have many responses, i will visit this section. But, most of the time the discussions in that section seems very bored, no wonder no response. I only give response to a few discussion which it seems quite interesting to me. I think the discussion starter would be very happy if their long gone discussion suddenly receive a response.

You don't need to feel sad for topics with no responses here. People decide whether they can relate to the topic and as what you said "Interested" to reply since some do post redundant questions and some topics will definitely be removed because it obviously violated the rules here in Mylot. I myself can say that whenever I choose a topic to reply here, I see to it that the discussion is not going to be removed by the admin. Some people here don't read rules and that is why they keep on posting topics which is not even a topic to discuss to like what's your favorite ice cream etc. that Mylot deletes. I would not push an effort if I know that someone posted a ref link on the topic nor will I be interested to reply back if the topic has no question enclosed at all and asking for my opinion, just my two cents!

I don´t feel sad for that! I have a lot of things that are worth more to feel sad about. I am not worried about the money I earn here either. But I find good posts with no responses once in a while and I´m glad I spent the time checking.

I do not post dicussions, but I answer discussion. So I try to respond to all my friends' discussion posts. Sometimes, I really do not want to answer some because when I do get to post a point they never answered it. They usually want me to answer their only which I find it a bit unfair.
@marguicha (223773)

24 Jul 11
I understand that. We want to create a conversation when we answer. I cannot answer all my friend´s posts for lack of time, but I do my best. As for being unfair, they are missing the point of the site and at the same time, they don´t earn a single penny for your response. It´s their work, and their comments, which is counted as their participation.

I do check these post beacuse some of them are just as touching and good as the other post that do get a lot of responses.I know how it feels to not get many answers back on a post.So I try to look and answer at least one or two a day.

I do on occasion check the no response posts - when I remember to. The problems are however that the top ones questions that were just asked five seconds ago (and will soon get a response), the others are to technical, and often the rest are multiple spams from myLotters who do not yet understand that quality is the key. Now sometimes there is a great question that somehow just got overlooked by everyone. I answer these. The overwhelming majority however I end up skipping for the reasons listed above.

Today I checked 3 pages and did not fingd a quality post that I cared to answer. That´s what nmade me ask all of you how you reacted to them. Now, there are times when there´s a good post sandwiched between the rest.
