I am feeling very frustrated because I am trying to perform a simple task in order to achieve an important goal, and it's not working.
I have a mobility scooter and it needs new batteries. I am going to TRY to do this by myself before I resort to asking a man to do it for me. But, before I can do this, I must take the seat off the scooter. It is supposed to be a very easy job. According to the instructions in the manual I have, I should be able to pull the seat straight up to remove it. If that doesn't work, I should depress a bar at the same time I am pulling it up. Every man who has ever been at my house since I had the scooter has been able to do this. I CANNOT. I just can't understand what I am doing wrong. Why should I have to depend on someone else to handle a simple thing like this?
I had to look underneath. I dread going down on the floor because I have mobility problems and it is very difficult for me to get up. But, I did it. I noticed that the seat is attached to a frame with bolts and screws of different sizes. Theoretically speaking, I should be able to pull the chair out if I detach it from the frame by removing the bolts. But it means going on the floor in an awkward position and loosening tight bolts which I can't reach easily.
I am frustrated because I know that it should not be necessary for me to take his thing apart in order to remove the seat. But I can't see any other way. Why can't I do a simple thing like this.
I know you are not mechanics. You can't tell me how to fix the scooter. But maybe you can help me with the emotional side of the problem. What am I supposed to do when I am feeling useless and helpless. I am trying to take care of things by myself. If I can't do a simple thing like this, how can I deal with bigger problems?

First take a deep breath and try to relax.Start Fresh. Tell your self you can do it.Feel within your self that for you this is a piece of cake. The power of positive thinking can overcome all your problems.Believe in your inner strength and you will overcome not only your current situation but also all that you face in the future.Best of luck

Thank you for sharing. I know the power of positive thinking. I recite my affrmations 10 times every day after breakfast. They have a very powerful effect, even though I am very poor at visualization and concentration. But, I don't usually visualize abot pulling off a seat.
There has to be some small detail that I just can't see. Something which will make all of the difference. I thought that, because my body leans so far forward (lordosis) I just can't pull straight. But now I don't think that is the problem. And, if it is bolted, how can anyone else pick it up? Rocking it and twisting it isn't working either.
If I want to fix this thing, I have to bite the bullet and get down on the floor. I will let you know how I make out.
