Recently a survey took place through clinical studies that said males and females between the ages of 15-60 years old have experienced depression sometime in there lives at one point or another.
Now a days, Things are different decades ago if you were to see a Psychiatrist, It was considered extremely taboo.. Now its very common.
I have personally suffered from Depression for a long time and especially right now, I just found out I may have cancer. I see my Doctor tomorrow to get the results and as you can imagine I am very scared.
If you are suffering from depression, See a Doctor they can help you. I dont think the Doctor throwing pills down your throat is good for anyone because when you suffer from depression you really have to get to bottom of what is causing it and address it.
I just wanted to post this thread to let the millions of people who suffer from depression to know your not alone, and its not taboo to see a psychiatrist anymore. Why Suffer if you don`t have to.
Depression is a mental illness, It is an imbalance of certain chemicals in your brain and medication can work but like I said you really need to get to the underlining problems and find out why your suffering and try your best to address the problem.
If your suffering, I just want you to know your not alone, I am online a lot but if my condition turns to cancer I probably will not be on the computer much. The last time I saw the doctor I was given a chemotherapy drug and it was absolutely horrible, I did not eat for a week straight not to mention I did not sleep for 6-7 days I eventually flushed the medicine because mentally I could not handle taking it.
Another reason I posted this thread was for a selfish reason, like I said I see my doctor tomorrow to find out what exactly is going on. If you guys could keep me in your thoughts it would mean the world to me...
Thank You So Much and God Bless
Your Friend,
Lawrence

I am sorry to hear, I know you have probably gone to the doctor by now and gotten your results, I do however wish you the best of luck and hopefully if it is cancer that was detected I hope they caught it early enough.
But you are right depression is a serious illness, that effects each and every one of us at one point or another. The only difference is that most of us get affected more severely than others. But if a depression is uncontrollable and you feel down all the time, I would definitely recommend seeing professional help, no one should feel this way all the time, it's definitely not good for us.
My father-in-law was detected lung cancer, unfortunately it was detected to late, but the time it was detected, it had spread to the majority of his body and it was already spread to his brain. The way the detected it was because it had collapsed one of his lungs and he was complaining about difficulties breathing and we took him to the emergency room. He started Chemo immediately and was only given a period of no more than 6 t 9 months to live. Unfortunately the same weekend he was released from the hospital he passed away on Easter Sunday. The dr. that was treating him said that the same chemotherapy might have killed him because it was so intense.

Yes, dealing with Depression at any time is not Fun. Especially when you are dealing with other Health issues to boot on top of it. Many times the depression comes because of the other diagnosis and because of Fear of the unknown. That is the Truth though. If you are seeing a Doctor who knows you are dealing with depression and all they want to give you pills instead of helping get down to the bottom of what is really bothering you, then you need to find help somewhere else. Having depression is not something of Taboo. It is something that is treatable and should be dealt with for sure.
