How much money do people usually make a day on here?

Just curious, how much money does everyone on here make? I'm finding consistently that I'm only making 3 cents a day, and it just seems really low. Is the money based on how many people comment on my posts, or is it how much I comment and such per day. What makes money on here and what doesn't? I'm also not expecting to make a ton of money off of this site, for obvious reasons, but I mean I think I should be getting more then just 3 cents per day.

Earnings are based on a proprietary algorithm which takes into account the quality of your participation on the site. Nobody knows how it works (and we are not allowed to speculate) but it has been working very successfully for over 5 years.
Basically, you only earn for what YOU do here (with the exception of referral earnings) and it doesn't matter how many responses you get to a discussion, unless you go back and contribute to that discussion, you don't earn a brass farthing more for it.
All of your contributions - discussions, responses and comments - are eligible for earning, though your Activity Rating or User Rating (the number in brackets beside your name) will only increase for some of them.
Many people achieve payout ($10) every month, so they must be averaging 33-34 cents a day. Nor do I believe that all of them spend 8 hours or more a day on MyLot: most of us have other lives to lead!
The FAQs on Earnings: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq.aspx and the Guidelines: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx are essential reading.

Very helpful, actually. Though I would enjoy it better if there was a better description of that by the people who own the site. My only problem, though, is actually staying on and finding stuff to come up with for discussions and commenting on the discussions. But your comment has been very Helpful. Thank you.

The FAQs and the Guidelines are in dire need of revision (and the Admin here, GoAskAlice, has admitted as much).
As for finding topics to write on and things to say in response to them, that is something which, for me, varies from day to day. Some days there seem to be many discussions worth responding to and the words flow out of my fingers, other days it seems like uphill work and I know it's time to go and do something else!
I have certainly found that MyLot has greatly helped with my writing style and the ease with which I can write a response. Perhaps I have learned to think at the speed my fingers can type or perhaps I have improved my typing speed to match the way I think! Either way, it somehow seems more 'conversational' than it used to do.
