Who Wants To Be Famous?

For me, I think being famous is something that is not far from putting your life in danger. I'd rather live a peaceful/quiet life than being so famous and can't walk in the streets without bodyguards anymore. So what made me think of this discussion? I have a friend, she's a girl and a she's a very famous actress in our country. She starred many movies and been on TV shows. So she is so rich, famous and beautiful almost got a perfect life. Only that she can't go out of her comfort zone without bodyguards and a PA around her. I used to be with her during our younger years, we were together in a theatre class and workshops but I chose to drop out of the workshop when we moved to other house since it's farther than the previous one. Now I realized I just made a right decision not to act again and be famous just like my friend. We can't even shop together in a mall 'cause people will easily recognize her and start moving closer, ask for autograph, picture, ask about something personal (cell phone #, residence, issues - of course she doesn't answer back) and all that. How 'bout you? Do you think it's worth being famous and forget about living an ordinary/average life?

Hi Xsparky!
I can honestly say that is not a perfect life friend. I will not call that as a perfect life at all. What is the perfect if we can't do anything we want. But I believe that to get something we should sacrifice other thing. If I want to be famous and rich and all that I need to sacrifice my precious peaceful time. Normal and ordinary life is enough for me. But I do know that some people really love to be the center of the public and they don't mind being the public figure as they themselves asked for it. Can't we just be famous without anyone can recognize us??Haha...(^^)

I am like you.....I like my life without all the hassle of being famous. I have written three books and although I would love for one of them to jump to a best sellers statis....I wouldn't like attention in public...not for me or my family or friends.

Thanks for you response jillhill. Wow! That's so cool! Can we find your books at the bookstores? Who knows, maybe I've already read your books. Good to you in your carreer as a writer and hiding your identity at the same time! :)

I sometimes want to be famous. I love to sing, but then there are some songs I would feel uncomfortable about singing. I also think well what is more important, children or being famous? Then the thought comes to me, these famous people can afford doctors and get treatments for infertility and one of the reasons that I could not get pregnant after marriage was because we could not afford the thousands of dollars for treatment. You might say that I am in the middle. I would not mind being famous if it was what God intended, but I would not want to be famous if I was a bad person.

That would be a miracle. I would have to get married again. But I do have a brother who was offered a promotion and did not take it because he was afraid of too much responsibility. I think if you get famous, you should not reject it. AFter all yiu did something that no one else could. I rather admire those writers who can get a novel out in a year and those singers that can reach the high notes and also those pianists who can play a piece without looking at the piece.

Oh and thanks for the best response. Practicing my singing so just in case I go to the Mall around Christmas, when they have those concerts, a conductor will say "anyone here knows" O Holy Night?" Our soprano had a nervous breakdown!"
And I hold up my hand.

Hi Xsparky!
Wow, you're friends with an actress? That's awesome!
I would like to be famous but I wouldn't want my privacy to be invaded. If that cannot come in pair, then I guess I still want to be famous. Seriously, I don't think I would be able to take those invasion of privacy. I would want to shop quietly, stroll inside a mall without any disturbances, go anywhere without someone approaching me to ask for my number or address. Attention is good at a certain point, but when it becomes too much, it gets annoying.
Can I just be rich only?

Yes she is. I've noticed you're also from the Philippines. I'll give you a clue, you can see her in ABS-CBN, ASAP most commonly and she's currently enjoying her long vacation from movies and TV series as stated to her recently signed contract from ABS-CBN. Though, she can't really enjoy her vacation as in free life with no bothersome. :(
Thanks secretbear!

I don't have any idea who it is! I don't watch TV a lot much more ABS-CBN. Everybody in our house is more on to GMA7.

I'd like to have the jobs that they do and be making the kind of money but not the fame. While I respect their work, I do not and never will understand the kind of fuss that is made over them. Admiration is nice and all but, when is it necessary to stalk and invade their privacy. Every time fans do things like this they are feeding scum such as paparazzi. They are the reason I do not allow for celebrity gossip mags or articles in my home or if someone tries to read it to me I say "I'm not interested. Please keep it to yourself.
Also if we're going to fuss over someone (preferably in a civil way) why not people who actually do something worth the fuss over? Why not our soldiers, firemen, police? If anyone deserves to be asked for autographs and such it would be them. I don't recommend that because it may keep them from being able to do their job but it makes more sense than doing it over someone just because they happened to be on my tv screen.

As a fried of an actress, I hate gossips so much. Even if it wasn't me or not that I'm even involve at, it makes me mad whenever I hear or read terrible hearsays about my friend. It's like what the _ _ _ _! I know her a lot better than you guys do! I don't understand why famous people are being talked like this. When they are at the peak of their fame somebody's pulling them down.
Thanks cupkitties!

Hi xsparky, You are right! I really dont want a famous life, where everyone praises me and knows me well. I like to be famous for myself and my family, where my partner should be proud of me and my kids happy on how i take care. Famous in public is losing freedom of yourself just for money and fame.Cheers!!

People care about being famous and recognized and they should focus on doing what they like and be happy... if that brings fame, all right!! no problem.
To do because you like to do and not to be famous. Ihis is ideal.

Just like saying life is a matter of choice. I'm just wondering, do famous Hollywood actors/actresses (those who have big names) have regrets of being who they are?
Thanks luanakent! :)

I really can't say that I want to be famous. Like you, it's not something that I would want. Fame would bring a lot of hassles. Besides I really do enjoy having privacy, and not having paparazzi following me everywhere, and such. It seems a lot simpler living without fame.

Sometimes I'm thinking if I were like my friend who pursued her dream to be an actress, will I be able to handle such hassles? I guess not. I'm not a person who would love to catch the eyes of many people. It limits my freedom in everyway.
Thanks dodo19!

Hi Xparky: Some people would actually enjoy this kind of attention so for them this would be perfect. But for the rest of us that really appreciate our peaceful life, being famous and followed by thousands of people wouldn't be a good experience. In my case I would say that I don't want to be famous, just want to be rich to have the same benefits of being famous but without the cons.

I really don't want to be famous,I prefer to go whenever and wherever I like without being followed and harassed by other people and especially by journalists.I guess that if I were famous I would desperately be in search of a quiet place, maybe a remote island, where I could have some privacy. From this point of view I don't envy celebrities, although I'm sure some of them don't mind being in the spotlight all the time. However, that would never be my case, being anonymous gives me the freedom of movement I wouldn't have if I had fame,so I prefer to be anonymous, but free.

It will take its toll because you are not free. And you are always "on duty" or "on the show." Friendships and relationships are made, but you are not really certain if it's just part of the show.
But still, there are people who seek it out and love it. Politicians are the breed of men who seek it out and love it. They may not be "on duty," but they are always "on the show"... hahahah...

Thanks for your response RBBantiles! Yeah! It's a matter of preference. Some people still love to be chased by a crowd and have their private life completely invaded by papparazis in exchange of being famous.

I would rather be Rich and live a low-key life style. Walk every where and do whatever you want and nobody would bother you. Seems like the better choice to me.

For me the good things about being famous are: perks, privileges and of course the money..they just keep on flowing. The bad thing is; forget normal life and be prepared to live under a microscope. But at the end, it will always depends on the person being asked. As for me, my life is already complicated so why bother? :)

haha! I see. Yeah, famous people like my friend have privileges that ordinary people don't have. Got a special treatment and all that but seriously "living under a microscope", that is so true.
Thanks jonahh08!

xsparky017 I wo uld like to be a known writer but not super famous just published and enjoy a quiet but happy life with some decent money coming in from novels that have been published. known but not
really famous except with my reading fans. One does not have to buy in to that public life style as its just not necessary. x

Oh I see. What if your books will be a novel based movie someday just like Harry Potter and Narnia? It would be great I think. Though, yeah it's going to be difficult for you to get in the crowd.
Thanks for your response Hatley! :)
