So it has been announced that Marvel has gotten the movie rights back for The Blade franchise. This means they could now easily bring a new movie around and connect it into all of the other Marvel Studio movies such as Iron Man and Thor. My question firstly is do you all see this as a good thing or a bad thing. I think it is good because when a company has the rights to its own properties then you know it is being handled with knowledge suited to it.
The second question is how will you feel with a new actor portraying Blade if this indeed does happen. I ask this for a few reasons. Wesley Snipes was a fantastic Blade. Not only did he personify the character and make him very real, it was also the true movie that brought Comic Book Movies into the mainstream. He is currently in prison for taxes and is now rather old honestly compared to when these movies came out. On that same note when they tried the TV series starring Sticky Fingas(sorry can't remember his real name LOL), although it was good it only lasted one season. The reasons for that vary from budget restraints to the fact that noone like anyone but Wesley Snipes in the roll. So is the latter the case and the same feelings will follow into a new movie franchise or will people allow it and wait and see? If you are willing to see a reboot of Blade who do you think should take the role over?
My choice for the new actor would be Micheal Jai White. I think he would be perfect as a renewed version of Blade. Please respond with thoughts comments and ideas surrounding this.

I really enjoyed the Blade movies. There were three weren't there? He is one of my favorite vamps. I see it as a good thing. With potential of more Blade movies coming up it is great! I am really not familiar with the black american actors although a couple come to mind. Can't think of their names. I hope the one who was in The Book of Eli isn't the one they chose. I don't care for him in a role like this. Maybe someone new like they did in Thor. How would that be?

I could easily see them using someone new as well. They have a knack for picking good actors for the roles from what I have seen so far. Yes there were 3 movies and then the series that lasted one season was an offshoot of the movies as well.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of the series. I thought there had been atleast two movies. The actor you mentioned looks like one who might work. I like new ones I haven't seen or that hasn't done much because it makes it more believeable.

I agree it would be totally awesome to have more Blade movies, I loved em. Especially if they keep Whistler's daughter involved. I wonder though, if the guy who was in the series wouldn't make the good choice to play Blade in the movie though. As there are people who have already accepted him in the role of Blade.

I honestly wouldn't be opposed to the idea. And I am very sure he wouldn't mind the paycheck LOL. But he wasn't bad as Blade, people were just upset he wasn't Wesley Snipes

It seems that Marvel is currently more focused on the films with Avengers tie-ins, especially since they just announced the next wave of Ironman, Thor, and Captain America sequels as well as Antman and Guardians of the Galaxy. They might do more Blade movies, but I would think they'd take a break for a bit. What I'd really like to see is a Black Panther film and who they would cast.
