Everyone has a colorful childwood, and summer is the most intense, briliant season. When you were young, did you always play with a group of peers?Had you catched dragonflies, cicadaes and fishes?Had you taken delight in plucking Hindu lotus seedpod? Had you bravely cilmbed high trees to pick fruits? My friends,we are glad to have you share your funny summer stories in your childwood, let's relax ourselves in this hot summer!

We live in the city and both my parents' families (grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins) live in their own hometowns, so when I was a kid, I would spend my summer vacations in either of my parents' hometowns. It was nice being in the countryside - playing street games with other kids, try to catch beetles, and climb trees getting some fruit, and yes, enjoy being dirty and sweaty. Now that I am an adult, I look back and wish I'd be a kid again.

When I was a child my brother and I usually spent the summer months outside. We played in the garden, we had a lot of fun and we created our own games. We had a small pool in the garden and when the weather was hot we asked our parents to fill the pool with water so that we could swim. I was always excited when my parents agreed to fill the pool. The water was quite cold but my brother and I didn't mind we just enjoyed playing in the pool. When my best friend came over we also played in the garden, we both loved the swings. When I visited my friend we played hide and seek with her brothers. They had a huge garden behind the house and it was a great place to play hide and seek. Her brothers were identical twins and I never learned to figure out who was who. My friend told one of them to wear a cap to make it easier for me, but it didn't really work because sometimes he gave the cap his brother when I wasn't looking. They had a lot of fun teasing me that way

Summer in my child hood included tons of time with friends outside. Hours of tag and capture the flag. Those little freezie pops that are pretty much just flavored sugar water, but always seemed so good. Then there were many afternoons spent at the pool, not to mention weeks of swim lessons. Mom had a rule of no friends before 930, I would wake up with my father early (5 or so,) and would spend the rest of the time reading. WE always joined the reading club at the local library with the big prize being tickets to a professional ball game.

I wish I had some fun summer stories to share with you but sadly I don't. As I got older in my childhood, my home life became sadder and sadder. There was even one summer where I was grounded for the whole summer just about based on my mom seeing the awful things I sad about her in my diary. But, I do remember going to Hershey Park when I was about five going on six or four going on five. It was either in the summer of '98 or '99 when it happened.

Yes, I do. My parents use to go on vacation in my father's hometown in Camiguin island. How I loved swimming in their clear river that I keep missing it until now. I love swimming a lot and it is calming to swim in these waters than swimming in chlorinated pools. They also have hot spring. Oh I am just missing them more.

I still can recall how we enjoyed joining Sunday Bible schools both Christian and Catholic. I'm always the first honor. I'm not that shy when I was young, I participated every events in our school and neighborhood. We also love Flores de Mayo as we dress up as angels. I grew up in a pious Catholic neighborhood. All of us kids there knew how to pray the rosary, can sing mostly Church hymns and we kids went to hear Sunday mass as a group while our parents were so busy at work! Yes,back in the days we indeed had wholesome childhood. Tekken and Queen Bee were in that time of coin-operated PC's. We play paper c dolls and origami. But what I missed most was dancing in the rain with friends and biking around the city.

Well my most fondest memories from my childhood stem back to the 70s when our family used to go to the Beach and Swim or when we all went to Six Flags together. As our family was usually quite disassociative and had a lot of problems, these were times that even though things were Bad at home at least for the moment you could get together somewhere else and live.

Countryside Experience - A Place to Go
When I was a child, I always spend my summer vacation with my grandmother in the countryside. I truly enjoy the countryside. I think it is the best place to stay because the surrounding is so cool with all the green trees and plants surrounding my grandmas place. I love the walk we had through the field and also the thrill of passing through the hanging bridge. Oh! there are a lot to say about childhood memories and all of them are really nothing but fun!

Yes,I could still remember those summer during my childhood. Summer is one of the best part of my growing up as a kid. That's is the time for relaxation after school days and I always wait for that 2 months vacation to spend with my friends and relatives. Usually we travel and visit relatives every year and that's the best part of my summer. I like to travel and see my relatives from distant places, and have fun with them. Stroll in the park and beach swimming. Those were the days, not to mention climbing trees and catching butterflies and dragonflies which are so seldom to see one.

It tended to be a more relaxing and fun time for sure for a lot of reasons. These days, summers mean just business as usual pretty much. Where we are outdoors, trying to get work done, and then doing work as adults. There are a lot of times where summer is just another three months of life. Albeit a rather hotter three months of our life. When I was a child however, summer was a rather splendid thing. So many fun times, staying outside to all hours, running around and doing any number of crazy things. Going off to the pool, playing a game of baseball or basketball with friends, fishing, catching fireflies, really any number of things. That is just one of the things that makes us long for the more simpler times. It does make us long for the things that had happened.

CHildhood is really a colorful, interesting, amazing and impressive period of time in our life. We were energetic and curious about everything because we knew nothing about the world. Under parents' protection,we didn't need to worry about anything. We were just like having the magic and thought anything was possible. While then,we all were looking forword to growing up quickly. When we grew up,we realized that we losed much during this time.Someone would say you win some you lose some. But the true is the only thing you can do is accepting the change and everything is twmporary.

when i was a kid i played with my friends and my family. mentioning the word cicadas reminds me of when me and my brothers friends little sister and i went around and got over 50! out behind my friends house was a apple tree and during the summer we would always pick the lushest greenest apple off the tree and relax in the shade eating them. I miss those days of my childhood.

As a kid,i like summer best, you don't have to go to school since it is the summer holidays, i can spend my time playing with the other kids like my age. We played the game hide-and-seek,swam int he river, climbed the trees, went fishing together and whatever we like,it seems there were no pains for us at that time and it was a pure age,the river was still green ,the sky is still blue and we were simple-hearted.

The summers of my childhood are some of my very best memories. We would go every year to my grandparent's house which is on a beautiful beach. It would be my immediate family, as well as all our cousins and friends who would stay at the beach house the whole summer. Such fun times were had playing on the beach, swimming in the waves, playing ball games, and taking the boat out onto the lake! Feeling so nostalgic about it all now!

Hi Pengyachu, your question remembered me my golden days of life. I am from India. In India school remain close for two months (May and June) due to summer season. SO. this is the time of full enjoyment. In those days our group play outdoor games in morning and evening. In afternoon we play indoor games. We never catches Dragonflies and Fishes because we live in desert part of India so there is no garden, no river and no pound.

In my childhood I had loads of fun! Adventures in the woods with neighborhood friends. Building forts, riding fourwheelers, night time flashlight hide and seek. Catching bugs, fishing and tree climbing were also enjoyed. My favorite thing though was summers at my mawmaws. She taught me how to sew and cook. Mmmmmm mawmaws cooking is delicious!

I had a blast during the summers of my childhood. I remember going camping all the time. Always doing something with the family and with my neighborhood friends. We could have fun in the backyard with our little adventures, like building forts, playing tag, making up our own crazy sport-games, and climbing trees (despite our parents always yelling at us for this). Gosh, I try not to get nostalgic, but discussions like this one certainly make it hard!! Thanks a lot!!! lol

I miss my childhood summers. They certainly were a lot of fun! My grandma babysat my sister and I in the summer, so we would go to her house every day and get to play with all of the other kids in the neighborhood. We also got to swim at a neighbors pool a lot, which was tons of fun for us kids. I lived in a quiet neighborhood out in the country, so I didn't have many other houses around for me to even be able to play with other kids in the neighborhood, this is one of the reasons we loved going to grandma's house every day. I also remember vacations I took with my family each summer to the beach. Oh to be a kid again... :-)

Hi pengyachu, You have awakened a lot of childhood memories by this question. Childhood is always sweet part of your life remembered throughout which is not the case with your other periods. We used to have a long holidays, almost 2 months, during the summer after final exams. I never had been so free in my life the way I used to feel during that time. The sweet memories of summer are so many. Going to the beaches and staying there overnight, no parallel to that. Fishing is another hobby I enjoyed most in summer. Our part has lot of fresh water lakes and ponds which are harvested during this period. Playing all sorts of local games like marbles, viti dandu(a typical Indian village game)along with football. You are so busy enjoying the summer holidays that you don't even understand when this 2 months period gets over and your school gets reopened.
