Can You Live "In The Now"?

Many people assume that living in the now means "live for today" doing anything you want whether it's self destructive or selfish, or not. Rather, it means to live each moment in as wise a fashion as you can, living each minute to the best of your ability. I am one who is not good at this. I get distracted by thoughts of something that happened recently or worries about the future. This makes it hard to concentrate on the task at hand which could really make my life more satisfying. They say this is a bad habit that can be broken. What are your thoughts about living in the now?

It seems to be a man-made mindset "to live for the future" Man has designed life on earth as an endless effort for a prepared future ... so it seems ... There's a way to live for today and to live for the moment. But most people are caught in trying to make things happen in the future and planning for the near and far future ... at least someone has to do it, agree? What do you think ?

Oh yeh, I think it's possible to set goals and once the goal is set to work for it, and some can maybe do it without sweating it out lol.

I am the same way. I think about the what ifs and not the "just go and do it's". It really causes me to not live up to my full potential of that day, and something I really have got to work on a lot more. I could do a lot better if I just try, but I guess in a way my mind says "you'll get there eventually - and not "get there today".

I guess we are supposed to be able to be goal-oriented without stressing about it too much. I do like to set small goals but I freak out about what if I don't meet it lol

I think a lot of us who are trying to live this way have the same problem. Especially if you have been a worrier. I am doing pretty good on the past and better on the future, but this has taken me a lot of work and several years. So hang in there if you really want this ability you will get it. Blessings

Living in the now can make a person affluent. It's really a mindset, like any other, can be be developed over time and can also be broken. It depends how long this mindset had been going on if you plan on eliminating the mindset but I'm sure it can be eliminated.
