It depends on the type of AML. The prognosis of some types of leukema is not so bad, and vitmine A acid can almost cures M3. Doctors will test the blood and bone marrow samples to find out the type and choose the best treatment.

You are right. For my uncle, they tested the blood and samples from bone marrow. And it was luckily found at initial stage. He is undergoing treatment now and out of danger. We are so happy for him now and a great relief!

It all depends upon the sub-type and the stage of the AML. I strongly suggest that your uncle immediately starts whatever treatment the doctor recommends.
Take heart, most cancers are curable today, and cancer is no more as feared as it was even a quarter of a century ago. Besides medical support, provide emotional support to your uncle. My best wishes to your uncle, you and your family!

Cancer is a dreaded disease but with full family support, cancer victims survive their ordeals. Many doctors recommend family involvement in the process of battling cancer, and prayers are powerful tools of fighting against cancer. If your uncle is open0minded, he can have alternative medicine which in many testimonials have done wonder to most cancer patients. There's no harm in trying, all possible means must be used to save lives!
