Facebook has become so popular that its been having people from all parts of the world...then they introduced games due to which i madly added anyone as my friend who was linked to that game. For the game, that was the trick but now i keep talking to these 2000 friends and keep knowing about them, their country, their likes...its been an education books can't give!
And my phone! My life! Its been used for texting all its life! Using the dictionary in my messages helps me text faster and its made my spelling very nice that i'm confident about any large ones that people pop out suddenly...quite an education!
Do you people agree?

Oh, that is really cool anant!! A textbook huh???LOL
It depends on individual. If you think that it can educate and you can gain knowledge through it then facebook is good for you. Just like mylot. Many found that this site is useful just like facebook or more than facebook. Anyway both are just the same and it depends on how we used it. It connects people, we get to know other from all over the world, their cultures, countries and everything. We learn the same thing on both sites. Do the main question, do you really learn from it? Yes, you are~(^^)
Psst...don't get addicted to both. It is better to have it in moderation.(^^)

haha.. right...mylot search engine. But most of the time I don't get things I want through it. About the alien phrases we get from others it has vary meaning from one person to another. So it is kinda hard to detect what actually they mean when they used that words. What the US people means may different than the Asian people..(^^)

Are you drunk???LOL
I am talking about the descriptive reply from other friends which they may use the different terms or words anant not just about the search engine. I use mylot search engine with both English and my mother tongue language and it still give me a good results(^^).

Till its english, it should mean the same!!! LOL we should not go on mixing up things cuz things in this language can mean something else in some other language.........so, we'll stick with using this search engine only for english.........LOL

On one hand I whole heartedly agree. On the other, I don't! But it's not a big discrepency at all. I do like the idea, and thought it was funny though! I do agree that I have met people from all over the world on facebook, but I have learned a lot more about cultures and those sorts of things here on mylot! Mylot+facebook+texting = textbooklot! I like it a lot too!! lol! Great thoughts!!

first and foremost i was really attracted to the title.. what a cool analogy you've made.. by that title, you have a point..
Many applications have been integrated in websites especially in facebook and in cellphones. it made us sociable and easy to communicate with friends and classmates especially if there are homeworks and projects. It gives us a wide range of ideas that classrooms do not offer.. however, there are also cases that we look for books to find answers to the questions where internet and cellphones cannot give.. this are love triangle that we have to face with the rest of our lives..

you are right but you have to be careful. facebook also makes you become introvert.. though it boosts your confidence in but it is still important to talk personally.. there are studies that have been made regarding self-esteem of students that are say "addicted" to facebook.. though they claim to have self-confidence through facebook, test results show that it even lower their self esteem because they cannot really talk or think actively and receives low evaluations in schools..

Thank you... :)
i jus thought of this last night cuz those are my favourite places. Facebook can be generally boring but having many people to talk to, it doesn't be the same for me... Talking to various people we get familiar with new terms! That can really boost up self confidence and appearance in front of others. Its very important on personal level...

Very nice topic title, :).
Ok, you do have a point but we cannot say that it can replace books and classrooms. Instead, they should supplement the traditional methods of learning, besides who said learning should be confined in the four corners of a classroom.
Life is a learning process, that's why in order to survive you cannot restrict yourself with knowledge or wisdom found on conventional materials but instead explore various aspects of life where in you have the chance to learn something new.

Thanks :)
ya, these cannot replace the teachings in classroom and should go along with them. The teachings in classroom can be said to build you a life. Facebook and texting jus help make your life easier and live with a confidence!

Haha, funny, but I disagree. Nothing can replace the real books and the correct information you need for a good eduction. You cant tell your employer I studied a lot and I am educated, I did a lot of texting and I know everything on facebook...
Think twice... You dont have to stop things you love to do. But you also have to fulfill the things you NEED to do... STUDY first.

No No....i never started out to replace textbooks
it started out as a joke and is still meant in that sense but later when i thot about it started making sense in the way i've explained and it can only serve as a secondary source of information. We'll let books be the primary means, though every kid will be glad to replace cuz these are fun and they'll get paid instead of paying for the books!!

haha i think this would really freak my mom out if i would tell this to her.. of course she knows i would be kidding, anyway.. im glad my parents aren't so into the internet world and computers... they haven't got the slightest idea.. but good for them we are all working so she would not find any of us not studing because of the internet addictions such as this.

I do like to use facebook and I also like to use texting, they can both be very addicting. I don't text as much as I used to though, and actually only text maybe once or twice a day if even that. I prefer to use facebook instead. I don't really talk on the phone much either, prefer to talk to the person in person instead.

Haha I do agree with your point. Facebook sure allows people from all over the world to connect and socialize in one place. We chat with them, learn about them, learn about their culture, and we are exposed to parts of the world that may be unknown to us. We may not be physically there, yet we know much about their culture and living. So yea, Facebook serves as an "education" for learning more about the world.
However, I feel that too much of Facebook is an addiction. Just like how having too much of anything is bad, too much of Facebook can be an addiction. Facebook is a place to socialize and interact with people and isnt really(in my opinion) playing games and stuff.
