First I have to say if this statement is universal and not only for moeslem.ramadhan is close and in weeks, all moeslem will have fasting for a month.I'm so excited for this moment because for the whole month we'll focus to keep our self from emotion, take care others and do any goodness.Fasting is not easy, especially when it come to half way, it's seems very hard to do and there're many thing tease us.
in this discussion, tell me your fasting experience and your special moment during ramadhan?
for everyone, even you're not moeslem but you respect each other religion you also can say : Happy Fasting!!

I've never understood fasting. I really, really don't understand it.

It is merely personal self-sacrifice. Fasting are not only for not taking foods but other things also.

On my own opinion, I think it is a preparation for the festivity of Ramadan. The body, soul and spirit must be cleaned or pure or cleansed out of impurities or whatever unwanted or not needed must be taken out or eliminate more or less. It is a form of personal passionate offertory or service actually to God. Offering as like to be a pure gold without its impurities.
Our brother redvakaurvaki will explain more of that.

Usually a time of fasting denotes a period of time for spiritual reflection for various reason, regardless of what religion it's being practised in. In Judaism we say "May your fast be easy".
Muslims don't necessarily fast, but they abstain from eating from dawn to dusk and feast at night time, after sunset.

for moeslem, fasting is not only not to eat since dawn to sunset, but also keep our behaviour, clean our mind, forgive each other mistake, learn to take care, respect each other and so on.it's a one month full of spiritual for us...
does it have the same meaning in Judaism?

Yes, leaning on G-d and repentance. Read the Book of Esther, it's a lovely book, very powerful in its teaching how G-d preserved the Jews from destruction.

For some communities, the month of ramadhan is not just a day filled with daily fasting alone, more than that, The month of ramadhan is a holly month full of wisdom and merit. Ramadhan month instead has formed a separate culture, as like cultural homecoming.
For me, i'm really feel special in the month of ramadhan with religious atmosphere that was felt from day to day during the month of ramadhan. The atmosphere that can never be obtained in other months. And i think that"s such an atmosphere is that has shaped the character of many moslems in the world (Not including the terrorists).

I agree with you fitriadi and kareemadivina.
especially in Indonesia, ramadhan is comes together with the whole cultural month and warm atmospher.having "sahur" and "buka" together with family is very special moment that we never find in another month.for me that's very amazing.then pray together and read qur'an to get closer to Allah an Prophet Muhammad.
hey, both, do you have special moment during ramadhan and fating?do you have special preparation before ready to have fasting?tell me here...

It's true.Ramadan is not just a fasting month,it's the month when the first messages was revealed to Prophet Mohammad. We should celebrate Ramadan with lots of prayers and read the Qur'an, so that we will be rewarded Inshaallah!

Nice to hear that the month of fasting is coming and I think this is a very sacred month because in whole month their will be fasting done by peoples. And if I am not wrong then it comes two times in a year. And in the month of Ramjan at least every Muslim take fast.

Hi red!
I am a Catholic since birth, and i don't want to change religion as I am born like this. But I do respect other religions, for me, it is just the way of understanding someone divine for us. Your God may not be my God but, the act of believing and following in good way of life is important. I don't understand why other people are fighting over beliefs when in fact, fighting itself is contradictory to what we believe in. I also do fasting sometimes, but not like your style of fasting. It is like avoiding something too much fun, too much food, and keeping myself in a moral sense, that is fasting to me.

that's okay for different view about God and religion, as long as we can respect each other, it's not a big deal.I do respect other ways of fasting in other religion even when it's cross with our style make us feel like a weird or something else.in my country, the biggest religion is moslem, so sometime Catholic and Cristian have fasting too, even just in front of moslem.

Its been two years since I become a muslim. Fasting wasnt easy but the reason why we fast and the rewards for fasting make it worth the difficulty. It is very difficult since ramadhan came in summer and the weather is very hot. Also, this year the day and time for fasting will be longer than last year.Ramadhan in Turkey is very colorful and solemn, I am praying that this year I will have the chance to go to Meccah in Ramadhan though, I have been praying this for a year and I hope this yer it will come true.

wow...wow... that's awesome, pbbbsra.how about your fasting last year?can you complete 30 days fasting?
we have no summer here, but the weather is not friendly too, very hot in middle of the day, but after first week I'm sure we're all not feeling hard anymore.I believe you can pass this fasting better than you have did before.and I pray for you to fulfill your dream to go to Meccah.Turkey and Meccah is relative close, so I hope it's happen soon

Hi Red,,,
first of all, i want to say to you to, Happy Fasting for you and your family. Hope this Ramadhan could give us ways to be a better moeslem, each and everyday. Amien.
A little bit share for you, I think Ramadhan is one way for us to identify and learn about ourself. It is the right time to mesmerize some things that we've done lately, and related with our religion ways.
For me, ramadhan is not only for religion things, but also for make up my bad habbits, restructuring the visions of life, and realizing some things that we, as a human, must continously fix our attitude and heart. So that i think, we would get double benefits from Ramadhan.
Hope you can enjoy my opinions,,, thank you,,
