5 more days to go and it's the holy month of ramadan for the muslim brothers and sisters. they will fast as fasting is one of the 5 pillars of their religion, islam.
non-muslim people are not permitted to eat or else, you'll be punished; unless, you have a nice and safe place to hide it is possible. anyway, i am not thinking to hide just to eat. there are lots of solution for me to find if i really want to. i've been here since my teen age and i know the significance of ramadan, at least in my favor, so, i won't eat.
but, i want to ask you, how long can you fast? is it just me as being a roman catholic christian can fast as much as the muslim people do? i wonder. in spain, we fast during semana santa (holy week), at least during the day of viernes santo (good friday) and sure, not as long as ramadan.

I try to fast for one or two days each week. I find I cannot refrain from eating unless I am fasting (refraining for the right reasons)
I have never done a prolonged fast, perhaps one day I will, it is good you can and do
I find fasting strengthens me

i can't live without food and water even just for a day. I feel dizzy and horrible. But to give some respect, I can endure only for a day. Biscuits and coffee will do. Fasting is an obligation for those who have religions. But it depends on your body condition of course. If you think, there wouldn't be any complication if you won't eat nor drink go for it.

I'm from the Philippines and we have adopted the culture in Spain. Roman Catholics do fast during the lenten season or what we call the semana santa or holy week. But since i'm a Born Again Christian and no longer a catholic, i don't observe those things.
We were advised however that fasting is for someone with strong faith and i consider myself a baby christian, thus i was told it would be dangerous for me. So i have never ever really fasted because of faith or religious reason. But i did skip a meal before when i was too busy and too worried that i couldn't enroll in class when i was in the university because i forgot to pre-register.

you're from the philippines and a product of acculturation, okay, i know that. now, you embraced another sect instead of devoting your life to your origin. oh, what a futile and hopeless am i for my ancestors did not teach me on how to be the first rate version of myself always rather than a second rate version of the others? where are my convictions?

I fast and can I ask are you working in Saudi Arabia? I am Muslim and I am sad that you have to go to the hardship but if you will fast, be sure it will be rewarded. You dont also have to fast if you dont want. I know and respect your religion and you dont have to participate if its not within your heart. If you want to eat, just find a good time and place to eat and make sure nobody will see you. Good luck. I am fasting for ramadan and I will fast and complete the month. Pray for us too. Thank you.

i am an expat, so yes, saudi arabia gave me the opportunity to work, study and a lot more. to fast and be rewarded, that is the purpose of ramadan i know. i am not a muslim but since i have been staying here half of my existence, i understand what you mean although i don't know your background. what i know, your people were born christians and that made your country an ambassador to the west. if you come to spain, you can do whatever you want and no one will hinder you as long as your purpose is good.

You know its a very good thing that your participating in a thing like ramadan but don't do it if somebody's forcing you or something, if you do it from the good of your heart and to show respect, hats off bro. Also don't die while doing it because its pretty hard....:p. One way of making it easy is to eat lots of food before the morning prayer which is called Sehr. I'm a Muslim too and I know quite a lot about these so if u have any questions you can discuss with me.

I am not a muslim but my family is! This means an entire month of pretending to fast for me and a messing up of my metabolism .

Muslims fast during ordinary days particularly Mondays and Thursdays; the whole days of Ramadhan except for the Eid and Iftar. The timing is more of less 330am until 530pm depending if its winter or summer because of the time difference (from dawn to sunset). AS far as i know, Christians fast on holy week especially during Holy Friday & celebrates on Palm Sunday.
