I had this habit of eating too much at dinner time, especially on the past 2 days, my mom all of the sudden making those good food, and there were a lot of temptation not to eat much. So, even though I was full, I continue to have a bowlful of everything. Everyday morning, I just couldn't swallow any more breakfast since my stomach not completely digest last night food. Should I cut back on my dinner consumption, and make it balance among the 3 meals?

Hi, kingparker. I think that you should eat when you are really hungry. You should eat enough to keep from feeling hungry. Try not to over pile your stomach with extra food. Just eat enough that will satisfy your appetite. You should still eat dinner, but just try not to eat piles of dinner.

Oh dear that is gluttony! And more than that it is not also good for your body. You'd come out obese one day soon if you don't stop doing that. It is not actually your Mom's problem if she cooks good food because Moms do love to please their family that way. It is up to you however whether to eat just enough or overeat. But surely overeating is not good for your health. Anything too much is bad, remember!

For me it is not good because it can cause diabetes because you are near to get sleep and not all food will lose when you not working.

hi,
i think it should be balance the 3 meals per day, especially when we go to bed and we sleep the metabolism of our stomach will become slower and slower so that our stomach will not digest completely or properly the food we eat.so that we must avoid too much eating in the evening.

I suggest you shouldn't eat too much at evening.
You should have a light stomach by the bedtime, that's what most health magazines says.
Eating too much in the evening is bad for our health. Cut back on dinner and you'll have a good morning.

I also came recently from hostel to home, as my mother always cooks the best what i like so eating like anything, If i continue to eat like this surely i will put on weight by a week. So i decided to eat with a break timings that to only in the mornings, and less in the nights.Having a good exercise also keeps us in a good condition and figure.Prefer more liquids than solid foods like juices, choice of your interest. Try to avoid taking heavy food mainly in dinner times makes fit.

I guess it's not advisable to eat much especially at night.I know it's really tempting if your mom always cooked delicious meals but you can suggest she do it for breakfast or lunch.Having too much food at dinner time can result to weight gain.
Thanks for sharing my friend.

Hi Kingparker, Its true a balanced food is always a best food for health and mind. I understand how tempting it will be on a delicious food. But the problems of food habits are really terrible. So always have 3 meals and allow time for your stomach to have good metabolism. Consume your favorite food at right quantity, you can either break up to 6 meals, eating small quantity.

If you plan to eat a lot it should be during breakfast time. It will give you more energy to last the whole day and it won't make you fat as compared to eating a lot of dinner.
I am guilty of eating a lot of dinner compared to breakfast and lunch actually because i eat a lot when i have company around the dining table. When i'm eating alone i don't have much appetite.

Usually, it's dinner time where we eat the most, because it's the only time when the whole family gathers. Some may have full time job, so they eat at their offices and have a hurried breakfast in the morning.
But cliche though it may be, but it is said that "we eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper". That's because our body doesn't need much food at night, because we are just going to sleep and any excess will be stored as fat.
So , careful. Eat a lighter dinner. You can eat some of them in the morning, and eat like a king.

Ya i think you better stop it. I would suggest to go back to your balance meals 3x a day. its ok to have that once in a while but not successively.

hello :) i think we should not take much when it comes to dinner for us to get better sleep and metabolism as well. i know it's bad to eat heavy dinner and sleep after eating too much. it can cause bad to our body metabolism. so lessen your food intake when it's dinner time. i believe the most important meal is breakfast.

skipping breakfast, according to the doctors, is the worst way to start your day. To keep from eating as much at dinner, try 2 glasses of water about 30 minutes before dinner. The water moves through your system faster than the solid foods, but will fill you up.

Hi Kingparker, I suggest that you cut back your dinner consumption. These might lead to weight gain though. If you really can't resist it try sleeping one to two hours after having your dinner. So that your metabolism will still be active since you're still awake. You can also have dinner before six o'clock in the evening.

Hi kingparker, I would definitely reccommend cutting back on your dinner consumption, otherwise you will certainly end up gaining weight. What you could do is put the leftovers in the fridge, and have them for lunch the next day. I know in my house, lunches are a bit boring, but dinners are always nice, so if you just keep some of your dinner in the fridge, you can rewarm it at lunchtime the next day for a quick, warm, filling meal.
Or, if you really insist on eating it on the day it was made, I would recommend only eating one normal sized meal, putting the rest into the fridge, and maybe having it an hour or two later IF you're hungry. It takes your body time to realise it's full, so you may find that you don't want it in the evening, or that eating it later means you eat less snacks between dinner and bed.
Failing that, ask your mum to make smaller portions! The food may be nice, but is it worth increased weight, and all the health implications that come with it?
