What's Your Alternative To Mayo?

I'm been having tuna sandwiches for lunch this week. And because I am trying to cut down my calorie intake, I did not put mayo in my tuna spread. I just opened a can of tuna in brine. I put salt and pepper to taste, mixed it. Done. For my sandwich I add in a couple of lettuce sheets and tomatoes. Then I toast it. That's my lunch for the last couple of days. It's not bad. It tastes just fine but I'm still missing my mayo. Anyone of you with a good alternative for mayo that I can use of my sandwich? I'd greatly appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

May i suggest you to add a little olive oil to taste. Tuna in brine is too dry for me. Olive oil makes a healthy alternative to mayo

sandwich with mayo - delicious sandwich with mayo
Hi sis! I never replace mayo and I rarely have mayo in my meals except when I make some sandwich. Since I am not making them everyday so it just fine for me to have them in between the sandwich bread.(^^) You can try the low-fat mayo or non-fat mayo.Perhaps you can make your own mayo sis. They are many healthy recipe of mayo in internet.(^^) mayo is so delicious sis, I wonder how it taste without it??

Maybe you could try some low fat salad dressing, low fat yogurt or salsa (too weird?)/

Yes, dj! I'm trying to cut on high caloric foods so I can eat more foods. I don't know how to make salsa but that would be an excellent idea for a dressing. Do you know how to make it?hihihi...

Hi, beingwell. You can use light salad dressing or cheese on your sandwich instead of mayonnaise. I have added them both to foods that I have eaten, and it tastes pretty good too. Especially, the cheese slices on the bread along with the tuna.

Hi! I buy fat free Mayo or Lite Mayo sometimes. Otherwise I am turning into a mustard fan. I like Djion, Honey mustard, Spicy Brown mustard, and I'm going to try a new Chipotle mustard today on my sandwich. You could also try a thin layer of Laughing Cow Cheese which comes in different flavors also. Best to you!

Hi Beingwell, why don't you try to buy eggless mayo? I am using Heinz eggless mayo and it was just perfect to cut down calories. But in case this is not available, I can only suggest cream of tartar sauce but hope its label was Fat free .

I really can't think of anything to replace mayo when it comes to making tuna spread because I think that is the only blend that goes with the other ingredients. But when it comes to french fries or burgers, I can replace it with mustard.

I fear the same thing thetis. That's why I just made the sandwich without it. Mustard, I'll check on the caloric contents of mustard and see if I can put them in my sandwich too. Thanks thetis!
