I just saw this matter a few minutes ago and had decided to share with all of you here. One of my neighbor's son just ride his father's motorcycle out from their home. It sounds normal to you, right?
But wait, i haven't finish my story. The boy who rides his father's motorcycle is only aged 14. At that age, he don't even have a license to ride motorcycle. And he don't even wear a helmet when he rides the motorcycle. But his parents seems don't mind at all. Do you allow your young children to ride motorcycle or drive a car without a license?
I am absolutely won't agree since it is dangerous and not advisable.

The parents will be in hot soup if they allow their under-aged children to drive or ride a motorcycle without licence. If they are caught by the traffic policemen their parents driving licences will be suspended. My kids were never allowed to test drive my car when they were below 18 and I am very careful with car keys so they won't have easy access to my car.

Yes, that's what i think. By right, they shouldn't allow their children to ride motorcycle at such a young age, since the traffic policemen in our area is quite strict recently. It is good that you are strict with your children and i am sure they appreciated it now when they are all grown-up.

Well. License is required only for laws. I mean, if you just look the driving skill, youngsters at that age, ride the vehicles better than us. They have a fit body, good control over their body and vehicles. Only difference is, they go panic in critical situation. Sometimes, unknowingly out of curiosity they create nuisance to others. That's why it's not advisable to allow them to ride two-wheeler, but most parents don't care. Too risky.

Hi myfb!
Riding motorcycle at age 14 is normal for me to see. Here in my resident area we have younger than that...I would say primary school student and they already know how to bike. Most of the time thy don't use the helmet because they see it as not important since they just ride it around the resident area. But for me, it should be that way. It is fine if the child know how to ride but to let them have it without safety precaution is no no to me. Plus, they don't have a license so they should not ride it on the road.

My friend, i mean is motorcycle, the one that is ride by adults. How can primary school student ride that? Because their legs are not enough long to touch the oil peddle. Are you referring to the smaller bike? I see my neighbor son ride the motorcycle to a nearby town without wearing a helmet, once when i was at that town to buy some vegetables.

In my province, you can see minors driving motorcycles everyday. At a very young age, children are taught to ride a bike. Then after sometime, when they can handle motorcycles, parent's let them drive. I think early training makes them good drivers and there is not so many accidents in our area.
I know it is against the law but the law enforcers in my province is not that strict. But here in the city, it is not allowed. The enforcers here are more strict in implementing traffic rules. Maybe it for the best because traffic is so congested. But in contrary, there is a lot more motorcycle accident here.

Well, that sounds really dangerous to me. But, at least it is good to hear there are less accidents in your area. Although the law enforcers are not strict in your area, i still feels it is really not right for youngsters to ride motorcycle all by himself.

Ya know, there's no training, no license, no NOTHING to be a parent - and it doesn't matter how bad you are, you can still have a kid... It only becomes a crime when said child is hurt, but if they had given some TRAINING BEFORE the event (having the child) maybe fewer people would end up having their kids get hurt! (or hurting them even!)

Yes, indeed we should never allow our son to ride a motorcycle at such a young age of 14. I ever thought of calling the nearby road authority in my area but pity this boy parents gets the summon. so, i had remind his mother not to allow her son to ride motorcycle anymore for fear of unwanted accident. So far, i didn't see the son ride motorcycle anymore.

I think that this is very dangerous. there are some people, especially in rural areas, that teach their child how to drive at a younger age, but to ride a motorcycel and without a helmet? that's not good parenting at all!

It is very dangerous and not advisable at all. I know kids around here are allowed to drive vehicles around their farms but not outside of them. I would hope this kid you speak of doesn't get hurt. If he gets stopped and doesn't have a license he will get a ticket and his parents will be responsible for paying it.

He needs to grow up and learn some responsibility and the correct way to use a vehicle.

Hi myfb
That is so very common out here at my place... Many dont have reached the driving age but they are driving and that too without precautions(helmets etc) and whenever they drive they dont care about the speeds too
We dont have any kid yet but I think we will not allow them to drive

Hi Sids, seems like, parents nowadays just seems don't care much for the safety of their children. They tends to pampered them more.
Letran, Although riding is dangerous and not fit for children. But when their parents pampered them into buying motorcycle for them, they tends to want to ride it without waiting to get their valid license. In the first place, parents shouldn't pampered their children with that kind of gift.

The way I always have looked at it, though riding a motorcycle may appear very cool to people, especially at younger ages, If a 4 wheeled vehicles have the ability to flip during an accident, imagine what can happen on a 2 wheeled vehicle. Usually insurance companies wont insure somebody who is under the age of 21, unless you are willing to pay large sums of money monthly. I sure do hope that 14 year old boy has insurance, and has been well versed by someone when it comes to motorcycle safety.

That's pretty irresponsible I reckon. I have let my granddaughter drive my car around a paddock with me beside her but also by herself. She's very comfortable behind the wheel, not nervous at all and she is sensible. She will be a very good driver some day.

hi myfb 14 is a bit too young to be on a motorcycle and breaking ther law more without wearing a helmet. here in Calif its illegal
to motorcycle or bike without a helmet on their heads. those helmet often mean the difference between minor scrapes and bruises or a fractured skull.I made sure my son had a helmet on before using his
bike at all.The one time he did not wear his helmet, he skidded and fell, hit his head and had a concussion for several days. That made him an avid user of his helmet. It could have been a lot worse too.

Same here, for those who rides a motorcycle needs to wear a helmet for their own safety and following the rules. It is lucky that your son didn't encountered a serious injury on the head. Hope by now, your son had grown-up and understand the importance to wear a helmet while riding a bike.

Oh no..I would never let mine do that. Motorcycles are super dangerous in my opinion anyway and I don't even really want them to ride with some one else much less alone. I would never be able to forgive myself if I let mine do something like that and then something terrible happen.
Take care.

Hello myfb,I believe this is a negligence of those parents who doesn't understand the danger that is within riding a bike. maybe they should watch disaster news regarding motorcycle in the Philippines which could change her mind about her being ignorant about the safety of their child. I am sure if danger comes by to the kid, they'd never get a chance to ride him a bike ever again

Hi myfb: I think in this case the answer is just simple. Of course i won't allow this to my children. Actually I am very cautious and i am 23 because I think that driving is really dangerous, specially at some parts of the city where people drive really fast. It's very irresponsible from these parents to allow or even not control their son. You can't tolerate this.

Horrible. That's very irresponsible. At a young age they teaching their son to be a law-breaker (is there such a word). Well forget about the law, what about safety? What happened if one day that boy..nevermind. My point is they need to have Proper Parenting for Dummies..I wish there's such a book.
