How is the 10 Squared promotion going for you?

Hello, everyone. There hasn't been a Helium discussion for a while, so it's time to put that right. Are you taking part in the 10 Squared promotion, and if so, how are you doing?
I've done one $10 assignment, I'm waiting for another, and I have 3 more leaf channels with 7 articles already, so it's not too bad - particularly as I'm not very disciplined when it comes to channels. I see a title I like, and that's it - the channel doesn't come into it. However, the 10 Squared promo has made me look at where I am directing my writing, as I obviously want to earn as much from the promotion as I can.
So how's it for you? Are you taking part? Why or why not? Anything stopping you? Tell me how it is, and perhaps we can all help each other to great earnings over the next few weeks.

What's the promo? Is it 10 articles in 10 channels to promote a wider range of writing or something? I know I should just go and look... but I also know that people will ask, so y'know, I'm being efficient and asking early... honest.

Hello, Spike. No, it's actually 10 articles to a single leaf channel, and then you earn a $10 assignment just for you, and as long as it's written within the Helium guidelines, the payout is guaranteed. The idea is to identify writers' strengths, so that there can be more assignments targeted to particular writers.
The promotion runs for 100 days from 1st June - hence the 10 Squared title. Leaf channels are any of the subchannels, so for instance, if you wrote 10 articles to the William Shakespeare channel, which is a subchannel of Arts and Humanities - it's the one I manage, so I'm using it as an example - you would then receive a personal $10 assignment about Shakespeare, which only you would write to. Once you've written the article, the title goes live for others to write to. There's no limit on how many $10 assignments you can generate.
To make the most of the opportunity, you need to keep a record of what you're writing. I have a simple table with leaf channels I write to on the left, and the number of articles on the right. Otherwise, you may end up with no bonus assignments, as you could have 5 or 6 in several channels, but none with 10.
The promotion runs until early September, so there's plenty of time. And it applies to all articles, whether they're assignments, general titles on the site or contests. The only articles that don't count are creative writing titles.

Sounds interesting, but asks a lot for $10 - 11 articles. Yes, you get rev share, but that's a lot of writing just for a small bonus. I'll stick to the direct-to-client work, I think.
Thanks for all the details, though!

Hello, Spike. Assignments count towards the 10 as well, and although it's only $2 or $3 for incentive payments, it does improve the payback a little. I just like writing with Helium, and the payments are a bonus, though I'd soon do higher paid work if I could find it.

I readily admit to not understanding Helium or any of the other writing sites. Who reads the stuff that is written there other than other Helium members? What do they do with it? How are factual articles evidenced etc etc. That's a long way of saying I have no idea what 10 Squared is (100 I always thought) and I am not participating therefore. Having read your reply above I can only agree that $10 seems paltry remuneration for 11 articles. Now $10 each is nearer the mark - but what chance eh?

Hello, Drasnian. I write an average of 2 - 3 articles a day, but I've been with Helium for 4 years, so I have around 1400 articles in my portfolio. A lot of my articles earn the incentive payments as well, so it soon mounts up.
I actually never use the title search feature, because I can usually find enough titles just by checking through the available assignments. Go to the Helium discussion boards, and put up a query - I'm sure someone will come to your assistance.
If I can help with anything in your early days, please contact me. The link to my 'About Me' page is on my profile page here. It's difficult to get your head around Helium at first, but persevere, because it's worth it.

I just finished my 13th or 14th batch of 10 today. It has been a lot of fun and a good way to hedge against the falling earnings that tend to happen over the summer. It has really been a blessing to have seeing as earnings have been falling off steadily since last week. Hopefully they get that bug fixed sooner rather than later.

Hello, Madden. You have been busy! I've only completed one $10 assignment up to now, but I'm due 2 more, and I have 6 - 8 articles in about 6 channels, and 4 to 5 in another half a dozen, so I should end up with about 15, all things considered. I have all of August to write them.
My problem is I never look at the leaf channel when I accept an assignment. If I like the title, I go for it. I have got myself organised now, though, to check the leafs before I accept. I did 3 articles for the one day promotion last Friday, and had them all accepted, so that was a nice bonus right in time for cash out.
As you say, it helps to compensate for falling earnings.
