Sad Without Mylot

I was not able to do mylot as much as I used to these past few days. It's because of my internet connection. I have Globe Wimax as my internet. However, it is always down for the last few days. It really sucks. My job needs internet and it just gave me headache when the internet connection always goes down. So I was inclined to finally call my internet provider and they said they can help me with my problem only after 24 hours since that will be the only time they can assist me... So I searched for the internet for other internet and I found VPN.. Don't ask me the meaning. But.. is this really safe and not illegal? I have to pay just 10% of my monthly fee for a month of this internet connection.. Anyways, I really felt sad when I was not able to do mylot. It is already a part of my daily life and not to do it is just a little boring. So now, using my VPN, I'm back! What can you say guys? About my net? About mylot? (I don't want this to be deleted because it's a poll* by asking Do you...). *This is not a poll. Not a referral and not anything that should be deleted.

My internet is playing tricks on me now. It speeds up and then it goes down so slow. I hate when this happens and i'm really pissed of with this because i can't write on mylot as fast as i want to and can't rate phrases as much as i want to and it affects my class like hell.

HI banny! Me too not satisfied with my internet provider. I am not satisfied with any internet providers because they offer small service for high price and they always keep changing the price and offer many plans to customers yet they still provide poor connection. But I got no choice. So I just use it~

The thing that I mad the most about them is the speed for sure. They did not give the the same connection speed as they said before. They should give a reasonable price for the quality of service they gave to us.

Yes, and I also noticed that at first service is good but as time goes on, it gets worse and worse. I called my provider last three days and was told I would be assisted next day. After three days, my internet is still down and nobody helped..

Everyone should just have Cable One. It is the best internet connection online. I rarely have any problems and if I do it is because of extreme weather. I just heard something about VPN. Good to have you back. Not sure I have gotten your last posts answered yet because I have been having problems. My page freezes and are loading slowly. I think I have a virus my anti-virus isn't finding. Ugh!

VPN is Virtual Private Networking. It's like a remote control: you connect to another computer and the screen there is shown on your computer. You control the remote computer from yours and do whatever work you normally do. The advantage is that the controlled machine is usually in a data centre so has a really fast connection and so on. BUT you're still relying on YOUR connection to control it, so I don't see how it solves your problem, to be honest, except that it's through a more reliable provider. Sounds like you're paying twice for the same service.

Hi! THanks for explaining how it works and what it is. Honestly, I don't know.. but my connection is far more stable now than when I'm using my usual internet. Actually, maybe it's because I'm using another connection. I have a broadband and that's what I used to use. Now I have a modem stick which I used to connect with VPN. So maybe that's why there's a huge difference since the connection is with my stick and not my broadband.. well I'm no techie person so I hope you understand if I'm saying wrong things here.. By the way, the payment for the VPN is just 10% a month of what I pay for the broadband a month. I am going to try this for a month without my broadband and see if I will continue my subscription.. Thanks and happy day!

Ah, that makes sense. Yes, working via a laptop stick (presumably wifi) would make a difference. You're also transmitting much less data, since you're just getting screen updates and everything's stored on the remote computer (unless you download it, of course), which will make it seem more reliable. At 10% cost, it sounds pretty good. I think my only concern would be where my data is (for confidentiality/security reasons) but otherwise it sounds ideal for your purpose.

Banny -- what is that VPN. And how why only 10% of monthly fee for a month of this internet connection? Were you able to get it quickly? U are in Phil. Our phil friends must be having experience with this provider. I am happy u are able to do mylotting. I know u might have felt bad. But we must condition our mind that we should not be affected by the happenings. I know it is easily said and difficult to practice. good day.

Yeah, it's so cheap. You can read the very first comment here from SpikeTheLobster to know more or check it online. My server will be from a different place, something like that. I will still use the signal from the provider I will connect to but they don't know so I don't have to pay them.. It's like sharing with the signal of other.. I don't really know. You can check it on the net. In some places, that's illegal, but here it's not. There are in fact a lot of VPN offering people here..

I am sad too because I usually visits the other site other than Mylot. Maybe because on the other site I can estimate my earnings. Anyway, about VPN, sorry that i just first heard about this one coming from you. I do not have knowledge if VPN is safe, but you can search reviews on the net and wait and read your responder's response. i think it will not be deleted since I am responsing to this one. And I believe you are just curious about VPN. This discussion you have is very informative though.

Yes, it's so stressing me out since I need my net to be able to do my job. Anyways, about the VPN, I don't really depend on it. Just as needed. I'm also worried about safety so i try to avoid it as much as possible. Thanks and have a nice day!

it makes us frustrated when our job is bothered because of connection... VPN maybe is abbreviation of virtual private network... what is better and fast, using VPN or using your old netwrok connection?
• Philippines
31 Jul 11
Yes, it's so frustrating. If compared to how my regular network connection is doing now, VPN is better. But it's not fast. My regular network doing at its best would be a lot better, but the problem is it still has problems.. Happy day!

If my internet connection is slow during peak hours, I'm really irritated because I can't use My Lot. Specially on those days that I am really excited to post and to comment on discussions. I'm also sad because there are few interesting topics in My Lot now a days but still I'm so happy I can use My Lot.

i agree with you mylot is already part of us. We share the same feeling with mylot. My connection is really not good specially that I live in a suburban area where internet antenna is placed on a very high tower as what most people here with internet did. Mine is only the smartbro broadband stick. My internet usage depends upon the availability of the signal. There are times when I post my response the signal is out. It can't be posted anymore. I have to make another response but most of the time when it happens, I go offline and come back later when the signal is already ok.

I know how you feel! Since I have been back at varsity and am no longer on holiday I have hardly any time to mylot, and I am really missing it. I'm also quite new here but it has become a habit for me and something I really enjoy, logging on and seeing what new discussions are up that are interesting and mean something to me. And posting my views on topics that interest me! So I am going to try squeeze in enough time to participate just a little every day and hopefully will get to catch up on all my mylotting on the weekend!

Yeah, it's so fun here. Great you can still do mylot on weekends! Happy mylotting!
