I have bought myself a pack of Universal Waite Tarot cards with a book and a Celtic cross spread sheet, but I'm wanting some advice on what to do. It's been sat in the house for a few months now, so all help is appreciated.
Should I read the book and then follow it or should I just look at the cards and get a feeling for them and then use the book as a guide when I'm not sure what a card is meaning? What is the best way to start Tarot reading? What did you do?

i went through countless decks trying to find one that "spoke" to me to no avail, and at 30 and upwards? that gets horribly expensive! if you arent drawn to these particular cards, theyre prolly not the "right" deck for you. ya know what finally worked? a $2.99 deck of bicycle playing cards *nod* good luck

I know that I may end up buying more decks until I find one that I'm comfortable with, but I'm not at that stage yet. I just want to know if I should read the instruction book first or use the cards first and get a feel for them and an understanding of the images and what they represent?
