This is one of the dishes I have prepared along with my mom. I have been to a super market and my eye fell on the mash potato packet and put in my basket, ran home and then started preparing the dish along with my mother. I was very exited to prepare the food and creating chaos in my home. then, my mom ran into the kitchen and yelled at me what is that you want, I will prepare the food and do not make a mockery of all the utensils. I waled away and was peeping into the kitchen watching how it was going. At last, the dish was prepared and was on cloud 9 and my happiness had no end on that day.

Mashed Potato Combi - Food Plate
Nice food presentation. You must have really put all your efforts to come up with that nicely presented food plated. I do love mashed potatoes as well but there must be some greens added and would love to eat them with fried chicken or stake. Hmmm, I go hungry!

If adding hot water to a pile of chemicals is your idea of cloud 9, there is a lot lacking in your life as far as I can see. I don't know where that packet came from, but most mashed potato packets don't contain any potato! Your mother definitely needs to yell at you at lot more.

Here are a couple of my favorite made from scratch mashed potato recipes that are much better than anything store bought. You might want to try them out: Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Ingredients: 2 to 3 pounds red potatoes 5 cloves garlic 3 green onions 2 teaspoons garlic powder 1 tablespoon olive or canola oil 1/4 cup butter or margarine 1/8 cup milk or cream (more for thinner potatoes/less for thicker) salt and pepper to taste water Directions: Wash, peel, and cut the potatoes into chunks. Boil potatoes until they are tender but not overly soft. They should still be firm and hold their shape. Meanwhile, dice the garlic and green onions (using about half of the green portion of the onions and all the white), and then saute them in the oil until tender. Do not let them brown. When the potatoes are done and the onions are tender, in a large bowl combine the potatoes, onion and garlic mixture, and the butter or margarine. Using an electric mixer on low speed blend the potatoes until smooth. Then add the garlic powder, salt, pepper, and milk or cream. Blend until well mixed and potatoes are smooth and creamy. If they are too thick, add more milk or cream to thin them. Garnish with small pieces of the green onion tops if desired. Cheesy Bacon Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Ingredients: 2 to 3 pounds red potatoes 5 cloves garlic 3 green onions 4 slices crisp smoked bacon, crumbled 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese 3 tablespoons chives 2 teaspoons garlic powder 1 tablespoon olive or canola oil 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1/8 cup sour cream (can use low fat) 1/8 cup milk salt and pepper to taste water Directions: Wash, peel, and cut the potatoes into chunks. Next add the shredded cheese, bacon, and chives to the potatoes, and blend on low speed until well combined. Then add the garlic powder, salt, pepper, sour cream and milk. Blend until well mixed and potatoes are smooth and creamy. If they are too thick, add more milk to thin them. Garnish with chives and additional crumbled bacon if desired. They are both really good and are crowd pleasers.

For me, mashes potatoes donĀ“r come from a packet, but from potatoes. I peel them, I cook them, I mash them with a potato masher (no electric machines) while adding butter and milk, I beat them by hand and sit down happily to eat them. YUMMY!!!

The lumps are part of the nice taste. I know this person who beats the potato with an electric beater. The mashed potatoes turn out gooey because that brings out too much starch.
