I am a country girl, and i'm sure you'll all be able to tell by this post. The last few weeks I have been looking at houses and land. We can't do it now, our credit score is a few points shy of financing, but we'll get there in a year or two. I want at least 5 acres of land with a nice house that's 4 bedroom. Take about an acre for fruit trees and another acre for crops. Nothing huge or fancy, just a little bit for freezing, canning and maybe a little bit for selling to friends. I want a small bit of land saved for some chickens, a possible cow and maybe a few pigs for meat. Do you think it's silly to picture this all in my head?
Meanwhile I want to do my own work from home, maybe posting ad's on ebay or something. If anyone knows how to do this, if ya could help me that would be GREAT!
What do you all think? I know i'm a big dreamer, but do you think it's possible?

What makes you think it is impossible to achieve your dreams? Start with a big dream you can then decide how to reach it. What you picture here as your dream was what I had few years ago. I had a vast land of 4 acres with a big bungalow of 4 rooms and a big balcony. Since I don't have green fingers my land was wasted away with overgrown wild bushes growing scattered all over the 4 acres of land save where my house stood. When the children left the nest I and my hubby was left in the big house which made it too big for the two of us. Going out of my house to plant fruit trees or rear animals for the pot does not appeal to me. I have no choice but to sell the property and uproot myself to live in a smaller townhouse with small yards which is just nice for an aging couple.

No...don't pour icy water on a burning fire. Have a positive outlook and don't think your life now will be the same in the next few years. Our life is like a football. The successful people stand at the top end of the ball while those who are still trying to make ends meet are at the southern tip of the ball. Once the ball rolls the position will change and so are the fate of people. Those who were at the bottom of the ball will be standing proud on top and those who were once on top will roll down at the bottom like most people whom we see has fallen from grace. Life is uncertain and just have fate in yourself and life won't disappoint you.

I say impossible because it seems out of reach. We live in a crap hole right now that we are going to NEED to fix before we can go anywhere (and only because it will take us too much time to get to that point). Another child is on the way which will make everything that much tighter. I just don't see it happening for us, but I don't want to be the person that has a 5 year plan that turns into a 15 year and then it just never happens! I hate the thought of it, but i don't see us living anywhere but at a place in town with a lot of traffic and little privacy :(

There are many people that do this, and it is possible. I would think a little more than 5 acres would be better for your animals to live on, especially for the cow to roam and feed. This sounds like something I would want to do, but seeling on e-bay. For you it sounds that e-bay would be a good use of your time, when your not taking care of your livestock and possible housework. I hope that this will soon be a reality for you. Good luck!!!

I honestly just want to make some money from home so we CAN get to that point in life. I want all to be well, 2 kids running around with a house in the background and not having to worry about who's next door! I'm not sure about the cow, I wouldn't know what to do with the milk that she produced! Fresh milk out of the utter, i'm not sure if I could drink it! Chickens, rabbits, smaller stuff is what I was thinking more about. I know I said a cow for meat, but that's only if we end up having the space for it. I just really want the space and the privacy. No nosy neighbor to butt in when the dog is whining while your gently taking it inside, no one to come over and say the place looks like crap (which currently we couldn't change if we wanted to), and having a little farm would give me something to do when the kids were at school.
I just need to make the $$ to help us get that far!

The dream is free. Some onesaid,"what we find in life is what we dream". If you dream of this, and you sure will find that dreams in your life, rest assured that will came true what you dreamed it. You migh ask, how can I realize that dream. Do not worry. The key is confidence in yourself. If you have confidence, than the universe will realize without you knowing it came from. To help your confidence read a book titled "The Secret". I hope you already know that book. By applying the existing content in the book, I hope your dreams come true soon buddy....
