Gaming addiction gone much too far...

I've just read an incredible story about a young couple from China:they met in an internet cafe, fell in love and had three children. The problem is that their real passion, online multi-player games, was much bigger than the love for their kids,if they ever had such a feeling.Eventually they sold two of their children to have enough money to satisfy their hunger for online gaming, and when the police finally started to investigate them, they admitted that they never had the intention to raise their children, they made them just to get good money from selling them.Anyway,do you think they have any excuse for their inhumane act of selling their children? Is it possible for them to get an easier punishment by claiming that their addiction affected their judgement?

Addiction can really do a lot of things but selling their children? I know a heroine addict who really cares for his child, he wouldn't let a mosquito bite his kid, he's self destructive but he loves his child. He admits that he's an addict but after his kid was born, he's thinking of becoming sober. Its a shame for this couple to do this to their innocent children, hopefully they would get the punishment that they deserve.

Ohhh no selling children for gaming horrible story I think the parents are fool. I never heard before this type of event. I think police should punish them. No excuse for their inhumane act. Child is like wealth how can sell to anybody. I hate this type of people.

That is an incredible yet sad story. I don't think it is really right to sell their children for whatever reasons they have. And to think that their reason is game addiction? That is really disappointing. It is very difficult for those children to grow up without parents. I hope they will be taken care of and will not be abused by their new parents.

It appears that rice is bad for health, especially mental health! Clearly that can not be called parents, they lack "ingredient" human. Any addiction is dangerous, but getting to sell your children, wife, house, soul, perhaps, already too much. I hope to receive a punishment as their offense. Children's better without such parents!

what??? I can't believe this story! Its just absolutely absurd. How did they SELL their own children? And for online computer games? This is completely disgusting. These people should go to jail for what they did, as it is clearly neglect and cruelty - what is going to become of those poor kids now? Where were they sold to? into the slave trade or the sweatshop trade? terrible. No kind of addiction can be used as an excuse for this kind of behaviour - one needs to take responsibility for your own actions.

honestly, this is one of those stories that's hard to believe, But so much is wrong with the world today tht you kind of expect stuff like this to happen, even though when you read about it it takes you by surprise. I'm horrified everyday at what people do to their children and It's on the news all the time.

This is what happens when you start doing something excess that is over the limit. Games are good only if they are restricted to entertainment. Even grownups enjoy but in limit. But if you start to over do it, then things like these will happen. The main thing is if the couple is playing most of the time, then when are they working. From where will they get the money. And that is why they took such inhuman steps and resulted in such a case. Shame on them.

I do not know about the legal provision in china about selling children. The court will decide based on that.
As for the move of selling children for playing games -- out of mental disease which has to be cured. lack of employment opportunities may be one reason for this.
