Yesterday, my sister came back and wanted to remove her make-up before going to bath. But, her make-up remover had finished. Since the nearest beauty care centre is quite far away, so i asked her to use baby oil for removing her make-up. She said she heard of the danger of using baby oil from her friend.

Do you think it is dangerous for adult as well, when they use it for removing their make-up?

I have used it in the past. The stuff made just for removal of make-up is more expensive and baby oil is just as good. I did read the article and found it interesting. I have known baby oil to be safe when kept out of the hands of young kids that might use it wrong.

I think its rediculous to pay so much for the brand name removal.

This is really scary.
I don't use make up so I don't have any trouble taking it off.
But I do use baby oil for my hair.
I apply some amount of baby oil to my hair tips while it is wet after taking a bath to avoid tangles.
I guess, those household who have babies...better keep anything dangerous out of their reach, could it be baby oil or any harmful liquids and things that will surely harm our kids.
have a great weekend ..thanks for this info

Yes, i ever tired using baby oil for my hair, too. Indeed, combing tangled hair become easy with the use of baby oil. Seems like, we shouldn't let kids be near to any kind of stuffs, including baby oil. If you had read the news, the kids are down will trouble after they played the baby oil.

you'd be surprised, actually.
the way that oil is used as a cleanser doesn't leave the skin oily when you do it right.
a fine layer of oil on dry skin (but natural oils are much better for this than mineral oils like baby oil) then dip a cloth or cotton wool in hot water and wring it out, so it's hot, but damp rather than wet, and wipe away. it makes it lovely and soft, but doesn't leave the skin greasy.

Zandi, i mean use baby oil as make-up removal only. After that, my sister still use facial wash like usual. Of course, we can't use baby oil as cleanser, too oily, right...
Galena, thanks for sharing this info. Sounds pretty nice and interesting way to clean our skin using baby oil. I might give it a try...

I don't use make up so I have no idea how to remove it in a right way.(^^)
And this is also one of the reason why I dislike wearing make up on my face. After we wear it we need to remove it and do it again and again.(^^)
I have seen people who just wear the regular cleanser, they are also some other who wear the baby oil (my sister had mentions about it before)and the baby wipes.

For the article issue I thought people already know that baby oil not for play tools and its indeed from the mineral oil.So treated it as regular oil which has just different purpose and use. If it is so dangerous then the make up remover is dangerous as well because it made from the same source right?

I don't like using mineral oil on the skin. it's a by product of the petrochemical industry used as cheap filler for cosmetics as it's cheaper than disposing with it in the way it should be.
if you like to use baby oil, you'd probably get the same result from olive oil, only much more natural.

That's sad.
I don't usually wear make-up because I'm not good at putting it on. Recently (this year) I've worn waterproof mascara on a few occasions. Water doesn't work to take it off but baby oil works perfectly. Sometimes I put too much baby oil on the cotton ball that I use to take it off and some of the oil gets into my eyes and feels uncomfortable. If I'm careful about it I don't have any problem at all. I don't know if it's unsafe, but so far I did not have any problems.
As far as other types of make-up are involved I can't say how well baby oil works for taking it off. For face make-up I would think it would work, but the oil would make me feel uncomfortable personally.

Yes, it worth to be careful when we use baby oil or other form of make-up remover. Make sure those substance don't get into our eyes. Luckily, it don't give any problem to your eyes. My sister use baby oil just to remove her make-up. Later, she uses facial wash to wash away the dirt.

I don't personally use baby oil for make up removal. I use a cream for that. I'm not sure about baby oil but Shu Uemura has an oil based make up removal which is really great on skin.

Really? I didn't know about this my. Though, I never use them to take out make-up from my skin. I often use lotion or astringents. Then again, I seldom wear make-up. Too lazy, I think.

Yes, my. I put a little lotion (any kind) unto a cotton ball and use it to remove the make up. Same thing with astringents. I used to have the Eskinol brand. Now, I'm using something that I got from my dermatologist.

I think I've tried to use it only once. I think there's nothing wrong to use it because it can even moisturize dry skin. It's a better substitute if yo don't want to wash with soap or water.

Yes, I only use baby oil when removing make-up.
I've always known it is dangerous when ingested but can it harm adults.
I've noticed all the victims of baby oil in the article are all children,
why is it so? I don't know if removing make up with baby oil can harm us adults.
But I'll be more careful now that I've read the article. Thanks for that.

Hi myfb2009,
I use baby oil as massaging oil because I feel baby products are the one which will act mildly as they are prepared by keeping babies sensitivity into concideration. I even heard some use baby soaps for sensitive skin. And about make-up, I don't use. I heard people use coconut oil to clean make-up.

I had never heard of that before. But I have used baby oil for removing makeup for years.I used it on my kids when they were small. That was about 33 years ago.And we have used it on my granddaughters who are 6 and 9.I do not think it is dangerous for removing makeup.Ingestion maybe, who knows. They do need child safety tops on it.But I have always kept mine up away from kids anyway.
