When you meet people on the street, they usually ask: 'how are you doing?'. They expect you to answer, 'good' or 'great'. They do not expect you to answer that you are feeling down or sad or something. When you answer in a negative was, people usually do not know how to respond. It is just not what they expected to hear.
Offcourse it is ok if you are not ok. Only you should think about who to share it with. Not everybody knows how to cope with your not-ok-ness. Everybody has times they are not ok or feel down or something and that is only human an that is ok.
