I believe that to improve your English language skills you need someone who is a native speaker whom you will talk to.Does anyone here in mylot friends knows sites where I can visit and chat with the native speakers? I tried YM chat rooms but most of the chatters speaks obscene language so I don't think I can withstand.Hope that you guys can give me sites,Thanks.

There’s this voice chat community called Paltalk although you need to install it’s interface because it’s similar to chatting tools like Yahoo or Skype. The good thing about Paltalk is that it’s mainly focused on voice chatting and there are rooms over the chatting program that caters to education related such as English speaking classes for free. You might want to consider and give this a try.

Yes, you are right. The best way to improve a foreign language skill is to be in the environment. I travel to overseas countries quite often, and ability to speak the language of the country is of immense help. When I get the chance, I would sit with the people there, listen to what they are saying, and step by step participate in the conversation. On the internet, icq would be helpful.

Hello! There are many books which you can learn to speak and understand English. Chatting also can but as you said nonsense words is always there to here from them. Also you can have a discussion forums like her in mylot, you really improve your English if you can have a healthy discussion here.

I suggest you just watch english movies. That's how I was. I was always watching american movies and mimicking how they say words and how they constructed their sentences. I think that's how I improved my english speaking skills.

Hi heavenrenz, I too, am trying to practice and improve my English everyday. It helps to watch a lot of English movies, read books or novels, and join forums and discussions such as myLot. Try to refrain from movies which use a lot of slang and curse words because you'll probably only pick up nonsense. I also 'stalk' some members who are speakers in their discussions or threads without really participating actively. Simply reading their exchanges is not just fun but educational as well. Sorry if that weirds you out. :D I am not so much into chatting with strangers because of the same reason although I remembered having a really great time with this guy ten years back. He had a great sense of humor without being green.
