The PNP Chopper Controversy

Philippines

Hello Lotters, What's with this? Alright, that's cool we got chase choppers for the Philippine National Police. We could use it to provide more reconnaissance in traffic and chasing running vehicle criminals. So, how can there be such a problem and prevented it from being use? Here's the problem, there was a bribery and corruption involved. The Senior staff and former Police Officers who were in charge on the purchase LIED believing to us that they bought a NEW chopper. when in fact, the chopper was formerly owned by the ARROYO family. the purchased was over priced and they got some kick back out of it It's obvious they were passing the back and washing hands here, even a common guy like me thinks their not taking command responsibility out of this. Okay, my view on this is that have those people involved get to jailed, straighten this out so that they can use this choppers already. Comment you Later... Have a nice day

We could have bought better helicopters with that money, at the rate it was overpriced maybe we could have probably bought 3 attack helicopters instead of 2 with night capabilities to replace our aging Indo-China war era Hueys, the police could have 2 and the air force could get the extra, we really do not know how overpriced so probably we could have bought 4 instead. It's not only simple corruption, smells like treason to me

Hello Louievill, Yeah, attack choppers would have better and it's really frustrating that corruption is exposed again with out assurance that it's not gonna happen again. I hated the fact that people will continue to have negative impression on our police force. I only hope that this administration can slowly start things anew

The chopper controversy is only one proof how deep corruption is in this country. The senate hearings alone would show how thick faced those people involved are in trying everything they can to make it appear that they're clean to the point that they look stupid. To think that most of them graduated from military schools where only the best and brightest graduates.

Hello ybong, Iknow the corruption is there but you never notice until they have been grilled in the senate. When this happened I some how lost my respect to these officers. Now, I believe people will not be surprise any more and hence look at bit sad about this situation when it comes to cops in general

This news has been on the radio and tv for almost two or three weeks maybe. It was forgotten due to several issues that were more dominant including the SONA. According to DILG undersecretary, They already requested the company that sold the chopper to replace the second hand chopper that were given to them. I was not able to follow if the company already replaced the second hand chopper. But surely this is a case of "caveat emptor" buyers beware.

Hello diogzz, I don't think they are dumb but if they pretend to be then that's a lot worse shame being actually one. It doesn't matter what the results now, we gotta use those choppers to find and locate criminals in the cities. i mean, just the three of them only but that's gotta be use noww. anyways, thanks for responding

It is just another case of corruption where an illegal thing is made "legal" by manipulation of laws coupled by bright defense lawyers and issues like this are tackled only from the legal standpoint and not on moral. Theoretically, on offender should be made to account for his offenses, but that is not the case in this country and in this whole world as well. The morality has dropped to its lowest level and that is one reason why people here and everywhere are shameless with regards to their wrong conduct.
