Hi Lotters,
I have an interesting discussion in place here. I know you were very eager to board a flight to travel from one place to the other, and might have experienced new experiences you were not used to while boarding the flight.
I was traveling within the country from Hyderabad to Bangalore. My flight was slated to depart at 20:30, since the airport was far from the city I started at 17:00, my father dropped me at the airport shuttle stop. After 10 minutes, the airport shuttle has come and reached the airport at 18:30. Then I took my luggage and entered the airport. The airport staff guided me where to collect the boarding pass, I have been there to collect the pass and checked in my luggage. I had 30 odd minutes to have a look at the newly constructed airport. Later on, there was an announcement saying that the flight is delayed by an hour. After some time then came a second one saying that it is re-scheduled at 22:00, It was frustrating for me as I had to attend a meeting in the office at 1 AM. Finally, the flight started at 22:00. The cabin crew welcomed me and showed my seat. They were explaining how to tie a seat belt and asked to switch off the electronic gadgets as i pods, mobiles. When the flight took off, the breathing was a little difficult for me, once it was in the air it was very fine and enjoyed each and every moment of the journey.
Can you share your experiences how you felt while flying for the first time?

My first flight happened when I was 14 years old and I was with my mom. We flew from London to Athens and the flight was around three and a half hours. I liked take off and seeing the landscape out of the window. Then it went into puffy white clouds. My ears hurt terribly when the plane descended towards the ground. Now I know it was the change of pressure and my ears couldn't equalize. I arrived with ear pain and half deaf. My hearing returned about half an hour later. We went to a Greek island and stayed there for one week. It was so lovely to explore Athens sights like the Acropolis and do some souvenir shopping before going to the airport just before going on our way home. We had a very long delay at Athens Airport. Many other flights were delayed for many hours too. People were camped out everywhere waiting and there were no seats left to sit on. We had to spend most of the night there before our flight went out early the next day.
I carried on flying on planes and having to suffer the severe ear pain. Ten years after this first flight a friend gave me a pair of ear plugs called ear panes. I inserted them into my ears easily and got no ear pain on the way to or from Kenya. I flew London to Mombasa return and the plane did a refueling stop in Egypt. That let me have a view from the air of the pyramids. Wow!

Wow, yo must have enjoyed each and every second of your first flight journey. If we are flying for the first time, the ears do not act well and nothing can be heard properly. I too felt the same, but later it was fine and also when we peep through the window, the landscapes are absolute delight to watch.
I can imagine they way you have experienced by your writing in the above discussion. Overall a Wonderful experience that can be cherished for a long time!

The first time i took a flight was when i was a child around 6 years and i took flight from Mumbai to Bangalore on an Indian Airlines flight. i guess that that time the Indian Airlines was good as they didn't delayed their flight for a minute and reached the destination at the time on my ticket. I was impressed by the way of transportation as i had not to go on in a train which was quite boring for me.
It is surely a memory I will never forget!

Hi Pankaj,
For sure, the Indian Airlines was one of the airways that provides excellent service and these days it is vice versa. These days, it is completely different, their employees are on the strike most of the times and have no clue when it would end creating troublesome to all its passengers. People who were loyal to them have come down gradually and are depending upon private airlines which provide much better service.

My first flight experience and travel was a 3 1/2 hours overseas trip to Singapore. I was nervous and excited at the same time. As we near landing in Singapore, it started to rain very hard. And from the plane's window I could see the dark clouds and the lighting. Kinda scary.

Hi,
Hm.. this experience is one of its kind that is rare, but yes this will certianly be scary as we have no idea what happens to the flight when its raining and how will this land. We have multiple questions coming in our brain, whether the flight will have a smooth landing or will it skid on the run way and a lot more. Luckily, everything has gone well.

My first flight was in an old turbo-prop plane that wasn't much bigger inside than the airport bus! It was also noisier than the bus!
Today, the planes are like luxury liners compared to that first row boat. But still, two hours wait at the airport minimum, delays and cancellations, all mean that flying hasn't changed much in the last forty years. Except now you have to perform a strip tease in front of 400 other passengers!

Hey Peter,
Yes, you are right. Nowadays, the technology has shown a vast growth and the flights have become luxury ships and yo have all kinds of emenities that are available for Five Star hotels.
Also, there are a lot of delays, the main factor being the weather conditions that do not allow them to take off as there is a lot of fog and some other reasons for the delay.
