Here in Cebu, we have this new craze called ATM. Though ATM is very well known for Automated Teller Machine (you can correct me if I am wrong) but here in Cebu, Philippines - we call it as Automatic Tubig (means "water") Machine.
All a person do is get a plastic or if he/she has a bottled container for drinking water, he/she will just drop a one philippine peso coin to the coin slot and then point the mouth of the container (or one doesn't have a container, there's a small plastic that is provided) to the faucet and then a certain amount of drinking water will be provided.
It has become a craze here in Cebu because you can almost see them everywhere. Like everywhere you turn. And it's safe and convenient too than having to buy those bottled water that costs 15php and here, you can only spend a one peso coin to aid your thirst.
I don't know if this is available to some countries or some areas in the Philippines but I think this is one of the best inventions/ideas one has come up with to support the lifestyle of the masses.

That is a great invention. Here in New Delhi, India you will have to buy water bottles and yet you are not sure whether the water is treated to be germs free or not and at least with these types of machines installed by the government or the reputed companies there will be no issue of hygiene of water.
Thanks for the update........

Yes we have those water machines here in USA in most grocery stores. They get like gallon jugs. Like the milk jugs. Although i do not know why because most areas the water is very clean and safe to drink in the facuets. In fact many news reports say its safer than the bottles of water that you can buy. They say that is the bottles are left in sun or hot places the plastic breaks down and contaminates the water. Although you would keep them out of direct sunlight after you buy them only God knows what was going on with them before you took them home. When i drink facuet water i let it run a few minutes before filling my glass. They best water i ever had was when i was teenager my dad and stepmom had spring water on their property.

Yup a simple idea to solve different kinds of problem.. Why? There are so much pet bottles around that are sold at a hefty price. With this so called ATM in your place would encourage small time businessmen to increase their profit and likewise aid thrifty travelers save.

True, diogzz. I have a friend from Manila who told me that they don't have there in Manila since MMDA has become strict and here in Cebu - you can almost see it everywhere. Very convenient indeed.

Wow, that a nice invention for a machine! Was that invented by someone from Cebu ? That is one way of saving expense for those people who suddenly have the need to drink water when they are on travel. Very helpful machine.

Very helpful indeed. Before, I was hesitant to try it but then a friend encouraged me that it's just like any water we buy from the refilling station. I am very supportive of this machine because it's very convenient and super affordable.

I had sen ATM (automatic Tubig Machine) in Manila. I live here in Region 3 Tarlac and I haven't seen one in here yet. THat invention is really cool. :) It is much cheaper than bottled mineral water that is available in our local stores. Does it dispurse cold water?

Here in the US they have stores where you can get bottles of water and such filled for you, but the only thing is you have to pay for these before leaving the store. It would be nice if there was a place you could insert money or your Debit Card, etc. to get the water filled, etc. as it would be an advantage I would think.

That would certianly help curtail the terrible amount of plastic bottles we dispose
of in the USA. I have not heard of one, but I live in a fairly small town, maybe some are available in the big cities.

This exist long ago here in metro cities here in NCR.
This is really good since we can assure safe water than buying those street drinks /juices in the street.
i wonder if these ATM are really safe eh...
We can never tell, how many times they have to clean the dispenser of,if they are also keep checking the safety/cleanliness measure.
(let's hope so)
have a great weekend

Well, when I think of ATM I do think of the machine that you use your debit card with to get some cash out of your account. With that said, the idea of putting money into a machine to get some water is something that I don't like. Water is something that is very cheap and I think that people can afford to give it away by having water fountains that people can drink out of or fill up with water as they are on the go. To me, a water fountain is a better use of resources when it comes to water.

Wow! that is a very good innovation. The price of Bottled water nowadays has gone high so sometimes when your outside your home doing business, it is quite uneasy to go inside malls just to buy a bottle of water. I hope we could have that also here in Metro Manila. This could help students and low income workers a lot. I hope the inventor will share the technology with some people here or he will make machines for our place too.
Potable water is so important that most of us bring whenever we go especialy during hot season. if there are machines like that, scattered around the city, people can be able to drink when thirsty and therefore prevent kidney disease.

Yes, i've seen that machine in Thailand. IT's not as common in there as in philippines because i've only seen 2 so far, outside the shopping malls when i'm there. I'm surprised when i saw that, but it's interesting because it's fun to operate the machine. I won't dare to drink water from the "Atm" though, as i'm not sure if the water are purified or clean. I'll go for bottled mineral water.

we do have something like that in our workplace. my boyfriend does not have a glass and when he gets that plastic he drops that one peso coin into the slot so that he can drink water. it is really a frugal and convenient thing :)
