Newspapers vs Online News

One day when I way watching TV, I saw an ad for the New York Times. I watched and questioned it and thought to myself "that's odd" and carried on. After seeing that ad I wondered if the newspaper would ever die and be replaced with smartphones, notebooks, or tablets? I think for the New York Times to be paying for advertisements on newspaper subscriptions is a little odd. Even though I guess were moving into the "digital age" I would hope that we'll never loose the newspaper.
What do you think about online news? Is it killing off the actual paper?

Online news is just one more source of getting updated with what is happening around.
I do read news papers for detailed articles, and I go for online news for recent updates.
I believe the News Paper will always be there.
