A while back I made a discussion about my turtles and oscar fish living in the same aquarium for 2 years. I talked about how I had them when the oscars were babies and the turtles were the size of a quarter.I didn't feed either one of them fish their whole life.
When they got bigger I put them in the same aquarium and observed them to see if they would get a long since neither one of them ate fish before and were raised by me since they were a baby. I have had them together for two years and they get a long good.In the beginning of being in the aquarium together the only problem they had together was the turtles would accidentally scratch the oscars when swimming up above them and the oscars would grab them by the tail and swim with them acrossed the aquarium which was funny. The turtles learned real fast not to accidentally scratch them no more . It was real funny to watch .
When I had that discussion people thought it would be cool to put a picture of them together on here so here is the picture of them together. What do you think of this situation and of the picture?

I like the picture and I think it is really interesting that they get along so well. I guess it helps that they were together from a very early age. Just because different species are normally natural enemies doesn't mean that will be the case in all instances as you have just proven. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week!!!

That reminds me of a picture my brother took one time of his beagle, cat and bird together. I think the cat was posed, but the other two were quite close.

I bet that was a cool picture since all 3 are animals that usually don't get a long. How are you feeling lately. Hopefully they got you feeling good. You have a good weekend!

I am glad that you like the picture. You were one of the people that gave me the idea to share the picture when I had my discussion about them.
You are correct, there is some animals that usually don't get a long that sometimes do,example some cats get a long with dogs and lots of times they don't. I had a chihuahua once that got a long with everything. We even had a parakeet that we let out of the cage sometimes and the bird and the chihuahua would play together. The parakeet would dance on the floor with the dog and land on the dogs back and the dog would just walk around with it on there. That was pretty cool. I have that picture some where too.Thank you for commenting and you have a good day.

thats so cool. love the pic. i was just doing a search on them, since ive never actually seen or known anything about them. i read that they move things around in their aquarium. seemed pretty funny, as i was picturing your poor turtles being shuffled all around.

They do move things around a lot. They pick up rocks constantly and move them around. You can't put fake or real plants in their tank because they will move them. They haven't moved the turtles in a while . The turtles started being real careful when they swim up above them not to scratch them because of the Oscars correcting them by grabbing them by the tail and moving them across the aquarium. It was real funny!

I have always heard that Oscars could not be in the same tank with other aquatic life..you have accomplished quite a feat..lol. My cousin had this huge Oscar and they did give him fish and lizards sometimes. There was no other form of life that could be in his tank. It was amazing that it was so smart though. He had it since it was a baby too and he could put his hand in the tank and the darn thing would lay down in his hand to be lifted out for cleanings. It was the craziest thing I had ever seen.
I think you should post a picture..it would be very neat to see..lol.

I heard the same thing about Oscars.I have 2 plecostomus (Sp?) that are in that tank too.One was with the turtles when they were little and the other one I put in there later on. I just had to make sure the placostomus were too big to fit in the Oscars mouth. My Oscars leave all fish a lone as long as they don't fit in their mouth.I have a picture of them together attached to this discussion since people wanted to see a picture of them together.
Oscars are very smart. Mine wag there body back and forth real fast when they see the food container and just go to the front of the aquarium when I go by the aquarium without food. I rub the aquarium pretending like I'm petting them and they like that. I heard that some people do pet them but it dries there natural smoothness away from them I heard.
When you look at the pic let me know what you think. Thank you for commenting and you have a good weekend!

This is so interesting - I can't believe that you are able to keep fish and turtles in the same aquarium! Congrats that you managed to train your turtles so well :) Turtles seem like lovely pets to have - I wouldn't mind getting myself a turtle one day! Thanks for putting up the pic - so nice to see that it's for real!

I think the only reason why I can have them together is that I had them so young and never feed the turtles fish. If I had feed them fish they would want to eat all fish.
Turtles are cool pets to have. I always liked turtles ever since I was a kid.It is neat to watch how water turtles give each other attention. They wave their hands in front of each others faces to give each other attention.
