My old Phone can never be repaired (ever) :(

Hello Lotters,
Well, it's a strong possibility, perhaps i should have done it earlier but we didn't have any money of sorts. I am currently using a Myphone Duo which is still a second hand my brother gave it to me because his children aren't using it at all. that's to replace my other phone who has a screwed up screen and an old motorola who got screwed fuse because it kept getting moist.
I don't mind having a myphone but the materials of this are scarce, you couldn't find a usb data cable, battery or any other similar phone for that matter. I've been calling repair shops that can repair this type of this phone, and shocked to know that they have closed down (motorola, phils.) so, there's no use having this repaired.
I hate new phones because it's vulnerable for robbery

Sorry but I have to disagree that new phones are vulnerable to robbery. I usually get the most expensive phones available in the market and I have never been robbednor have I lost a single phone ever. If you ask me that it's because of the place that I live in, but I would disagree because I stayed in Manila then and would usually stroll along crowded streets with my cellphone in hand. But I have never ever entertained the thought of being robbed, so I guess it's all about the attitude and how you take care of your valuables.

Hello TOni, Yeah, right you're probably just pushing your luck here my friend. one day some one's gonna take that opportunity and rob you. All am saying is that you have to be careful with your phone, with the hard times going on lately, there's no way they can't take a notice on your phone. you shouldn't use it in crowded places though. have a nice day.

I think luck has nothing to do with it. Being carefulnis more like it. And again I believe it won't ever happen since I'm a person who doesn't entertain negative thoughts such as this.

well, if you are careful than that's good, as long as you're cautious with your phone there's nothing to worry about.

Hi there LK! :)
First of all, you phone's brand is myphone and for what I know is that the hardware used for making that phone is not really of good quality. I think that's the reason why they have cheap prices for phone with specifications similar to other brands of higher prices. Well, I agree with you that expensive phones are prone for robbery because even robbers know how to differentiate quality phones from cheap ones. It just depends on you on how to take care of you phone. If you want to go for a quality phone but is not prone to robbery then you can settle for nokia phones. They are cheaper but durable. They are not that prone to robbery because its the default phone of the people mass. I, myself, have already lost two nokia phones (both snatched from me). That's why I am now more careful of my phone. I bought an android phone (entry level though) 7 months ago and I'm taking utmost care of it because I've learned from my past mistakes. I am not a fan of super high-tech phones for they are too much for my needs. I just need a reliable phone with a taste of new technology. :)

I am not a fan of hitech mobile phones too because they're too expensive and it will out last. have a nice day.

Hello Neildc, I like to say thank you first for responding. maybe that's one of the good reasons as for my phone is really obselete. maybe I never should have over use the phone and have it covered all the time. that myphone of yours must be new because this phone of mine was new back in 2008.

Try Cherry Mobile. Or try going to Green Hills Shopping Center, you may find something that will suit your preferences.

Hi!
Well we got two phones who are not working at all now. I think having a new phone is not really the danger for robbery but rather the brand and model. I suggest you buy a new one from a reliable seller. So you make sure everything is new and it will last longer. If you don't like to lose your phone, be careful where and when you use it and consider this thing when choosing a model. A newer model is more attractive to robbers' eyes.
Happy day and hope you get a better new phone!

Hello Bannybanzie, No am thinking of not bringing the phone when ever I go out and instead I would just consider not going anywhere. I'd probably have to bring the old model while going out and keep the new one at home.

I agree with you that new phones are eye-candy to robbers - especially if the phone costs a lot of bucks with new features. When The time came to change to a new phone, I splurge on one since my old phone had no music player, which is the only feature that I care to have. I ditched my old phone after saving for at least a year.
I had several incidents with getting robbed or misplacing my phone. Every time it happens, I go nuts. I am one of the people who can survive without a phone for a day but not in a week. I simply must have my music or else...
Anyway, I think you should move on with a new mobile. Getting frustrated with an old that is defective and unserviceable in your opinion will get you nowhere. Since terse are many models today, I think you can find a phone that can fit your needs and your budget. I emphasize the budget part since it is almost always the foremost consideration in buying anything.

Hello Jeanne, Just imagine you telling you're friends every time you're phone gets robbed that it's not your number anymore. yeah, am thinking of buying new some day but i want something that has no videos of any kind. I still have to look on those phones that are lesser in price but also can put my video/pictures transferred to PC, that's all that matters.Have a nice day.

Have you looked on the internet? It might be costly to have parts shipped to you but maybe you could find someone in your country, or you yourself, could repair the phone if you just had the right components. I have a love / hate relationship with new phones myself.

Hello Somecowgirl, I never consider buying it from overseas because it's way too expensive. i bought a very cheap phone but unfortunately it didn't last. I have taken care of my phone for a very long time though even if it's just a second hand. well, thanks for your time and have a nice day.

For me really yes it is that's why if you have new phone that is branded you use only it for the time when enter to your car.

Hello Ebuscat, oh, that is a very good advice though, we shouldn't use the phone on the streets walking and instead we use our phone in a lot more secure place. thank you your advice and have a nice day.

what i frequently heard from the robbers there in Manila, is if they unzip your bag and immediately grab your phone and run away like hell,
and if they notice that the phone they steal to you is an old model phone, they will usually come back to after you to teach you a lesson because what they get is an old model...
this is also happens to the fake jewelry that you are using when going downtown or inside the bus or jeepney window, if they grab it and found out sooner that they only get a fake imitation of gold plated, they will also come back to after the owner...
situations here in Visayas is totally different to those areas especially in Divisoria or Qiapo or Tondo or Jolo, Mandaluyong...
everytime i go to Manila i be a victim for an hour....
they grab my hat but they failed, my hat inside the jeep near the port harbour turns only....

Hello mantis, that's the problem that has always occurs in the New Phone. I don't think i will allow them to teach me a lesson for simply just taking my old model. This is something that we should avoid ourselves from going into tough crowd places that has slums and beggars that leads to a lot of possible crime events. be careful though, have a nice day.

I also do not agree that new phones are vulnerable to robbery, I think that it is better for you to get a new phone than to waste all the bucks repairing the old one... You dont have to get the newest phone in stores. You have a lot of choices and I think if there is no way the phone will be repaired, then you have to get a new one.

Hello pbbsra, Is there any reason as to why phones are not vulnarable to robbery, or are you one of those who hasn't experience being robbed before. buying a new phone is still expensive to me and i can't afford to buy something that won't last a year or two. have a nice day.
