There are several international restaurants in my country. We can buy food from Italy, Greece, France, China, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, India, Mexico etc and I love to eat food from other countries. My favourite restaurant is an Indian restaurant in my our local area. I think it is very interesting to eat dishes that I don't know. Some of my friends don't like international restaurants and they prefer to stick to the food that they already know. They don't want to eat international food because they aren't sure that they are going to like the food.
Do you like to eat food from other countries than your own and do like to eat dishes that you don't know? Or do you prefer to stick to dishes that you already know? Why?

Same here, there are some international restaurants in my area here. Most of the time i prefer the Hong Kong cuisine, Thailand, Japanese and even the Western style cuisines. But, i don't go there everyday since the prices of those food isn't cheap. most of the time, they hike-up the prices since it is not local cuisine. We only been there only on special occasion, to make the occasion worth remembered.

In my country many of the international restaurants are actually cheaper than the local restaurants. Some of the Danish restaurants are quite expensive. Some time ago my husband and I went to a mini vacation in another part of Denmark and we decided to have traditional Danish food for dinner. The food was delicious but it was much more expensive then the average international restaurant. I like international food, but I also like to have traditional Danish food sometimes.

On this site you can find some of the popular Danish recipes: http://www.danishnet.com/info.php/food/denmark-recipes-214.html
I would recommend the Danish meatballs (frikadeller) That is a very popular dish in Denmark. We usually eat them with boiled potates and vegetables. The caramelised potatoes which are also mentioned on that site is another typical dish from Danish. We eat them at christmas. Our traditional christmas dinner consists of roast pork or duck, caramelised potatoes and red cabbage.

Seems like, the prices of the food in the international restaurants in my area are having reverse prices from yours. For us, it is expensive to eat in international restaurants. I haven't seen any Danish restaurants being open in my area here yet. If possible, can you send message of a common recipe of your Danish food? I would like to give it a try, as long the ingredients are easy be found in my area. Thanks.

I enjoy to find new dishes and different food. I tried every foreign restaurant in this town. I go often in Italian restaurants, because the dishes are good and they are cheap, and I noticed that I prefer to go in Asian restaurants in summer, and to Moroccan/Algerian restaurants in winter. I don't exclude national restaurants, though, but with the same view : eating different dishes, that I cannot make easily at home.

I can hear that you share my interest in foreign food. I have also tried every foreign restaurant in town where I used to live. When I visit Copenhagen I always visit one the international restaurants there, because it is best place in Denmark to find international restaurants, and it is possible to find food that that you can't find in other parts of Denmark. If I lived them I would probably eat out too often
I have only had Moroccan food once, but the food was delicious. There used to be a Moroccan restaurant in the area where I live, but it doesn't exist anymore. Asian restaurants are much easier to find here.

That sounds delicious When I was living in Italy there was a very good north African restaurant in my city, and I got the chance to eat food that I had never tried before. In Denmark there aren't many African restaurants, so when I eat foreign food I usually eat food from other European countries or from Asia.

Hello Porco and good morning. I'm very interested in trying foods from other countries. The problem is that most of the restaurants are so Americanized that they little resemble the different nations food. I have learned that Chinese food was the first fast food here in America. I also have learned that Chinese food sold in the restaurants here have never been heard of in China.
Many of Mexican restaurants are also Americanized. but I like them any way. I have had Thia food and found it to be very good.

Some of the foreign food that we can buy in Denmark is also different from the food that you can buy in those countries. The Danish food is not spicy at all and some of the foreign restaurants have changed their recipes and made the food less spicy so that the Danes will like it. That is a pity, I love spicy food and I would prefer to eat the original food instead of food that has been changed, but I guess that really spicy food would be difficult to sell here.

I currently live in a small town. We have what is called a Chinese restaurant, but it's not really. It serves an Israeli version of Chinese food. It's good, but not authentic even though the owner and cook can\me from China. When I lived in San Francisco there were thousands of good ethnic restaurants. I was in heaven. There were at least 10 different ethnicities within 2 blocks of my house. There was a really good Vietnamese place across the street, a great vegan Mongolian place run by monks, Japanese, Indian, Thai, Israeli, just to name a few. I was in feeding heaven.

San Francisco is one of the best places to eat out. There are more restaurant seats than there are legal parking spaces. I love it when I go back to visit. I'm constantly finding new places there to eat.

San Francisco sounds like an interesting place to visit I wish that we had so many different restaurants here. In my country Copenhagen is the best place to find international restaurants and if I lived close to Copenhagen I would probably eat out very often. I live on an island. We have an Italian restaurant here, but if we want to buy food from other parts of the world we have to visit the neighbour island. Before I moved here I lived in a village and we had no restaurants at all, that was pretty boring.

I have been on several package holidays and one of the highlights has always been the breakfast at 5 star hotels most of them are American. A wide choice of every item under the sun. It is difficult to make a choice but what one sees is indeed a wonderful sight!

That sounds very nice. I have only been on a few package holidays, and I usually travel on my own, but I have had the chance to visit many different hotels. It is always interesting to see what kind of breakfast they offer when you visit a new hotel. Sometimes I get disappointed and sometimes there are so many delicious things that it is hard to choose

I have some friends and relatives in the US and after my package holiday there I spent a few days with each of these and they took me to several hotels offering different cuisine - Japanese, Mexican....the works! But after a while I longed for my own food - curry and rice!

I always love to taste international dishes and meeting different kinds of people.I have tried Italian,Chinese,Indian,Egyptian,Middle-Eastern, and Japanese delicacies. The best thing is I tasted some of it for free cooked by my friends. With regards to restaurants,I'm willing to eat international food as long as the price is right.Unfortunately, most international restaurants are having way too high price,so I'm just selecting those which fit my budget.

Which country are you from? In my country the international restaurants are often cheaper than the other restaurants. Many of the international restaurants have a buffet and I like that because it gives me the chance to eat many different dishes including dishes that I have never eaten before, and it is not very expensive. I have seen some expensive international restaurants here, but the majority of them are less expensive than the other restaurants. You mentioned Egyptian food, I have never had the chance to eat that, but I would like taste some Egyptian dishes.

It is very nice to have a partner who shares your interest in food from different countries. My husband also shares my interest in international food and I am very happy about that. I think that it would be a little boring if he wanted to eat Danish food all the time instead of experimenting.
I think that Chinese food is delicious. There are many Chinese restaurants in my country and I when I lived in a big city I had plenty of Chinese restaurants to choose from. Some of them had a very nice buffet. I also like Italian food. I have lived in Italy in the past and sometimes I miss the food that I my friends used to cook. Fortuneately it is easy to find Italian restaurants in my country so I am still able to eat Italian food sometimes.

I am now more of a picky eater. However, I didn't used to be. I've had Japanese, Chinese, and Mexican and like dishes from each of these. However, now more then ever I just prefer to eat American food, or rather, what has been Americanized. I like good ol "southern" food the best. Cube steaks, chicken and dumplings, home made biscuits, etc.

There is an American restaurant in the city where I grew up and it was my brother's favourite restaurant. I haven't been there for a long time, but I think it is still there. The food is delicious, but unfortuneately it is a bit expensive. Chinese and Mexican restaurants are common in my country and I visit them pretty often. There was a very good Mexican restaurant in the area where I used to live.

It is always nice to try international dishes from different international restaurants but I think not all international restaurants. I think I will never try Arabic and Indian restaurants. I think they do use curries in their dishes so I should rather avoid them. But Italian resto I do love also Chinese, Japanese, Mexican and other western restaurants also.

I don't know Arabic food that well, but I know that Indian food is spicy. I like spicy food so I find Indian food delicious. You mentioned Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Mexican food, I also like that food from those countries. Italian, Chinese and Mexican restaurant are quite easy to find in my country, but there are not that many Japansese restaurants. I have never eaten at a Japanese restaurant, but I have had to the chance to eat Japanese food anyway, because I have some Japanese friends who have cooked some of their traditional food for me.

I love trying food from different countries. I tend to stick to what I know even when eating food from different countries in the sense that I will eat the meats that I'm used to eating, but I will not try eating other types of animals I'm not used to.
I live in New York so we get food from all over the world here. I'm Guyanese and Guyanese people have their own style when it comes to cooking. Even though we cook curry, it's prepared differently from Indian food. I like Indian food, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Italian, and the typical "American" foods (fast food lol). I would like to try Afghani food because there's an Afghan restaurant in Jackson Heights that I saw but never visited.
I like trying foods from different countries because I like the variety. Sometimes I get tired of eating the same types of food everyday and I want a change.

I also forgot to mention that even though a restaurant may say that the food is from a specific country and it may have that flavor, I've heard many times that it cannot compare to eating the food in the actual country. Chinese food for example: I've heard that the rice is different from the way it is prepared in fast food restaurants here. I think sometimes restaurants alter their recipes to suit their audience.

I think you are very lucky because you are able to get food from so many different places. You really have the chance to experiment and try many different kinds of food. I have never eaten Afghani food, but it sounds interesting. I live in Denmark and the best place to find international food is Copenhagen. There are restaurants from many different countries, especially from Asia. When I visit Copenhagen I like to try a new restaurant every time so that I will be able to eat some food that I haven't eaten before.
I think you are right about international restaurants. You do get an impression of the food from that country when you visit the restaurant, but it is better to eat the food in actual country. I have never been to Asia, but I would love to travel around for several months, visit many different places and eat the local food in every country

Hi,Procospino,
I always like to take taste of foods of other countries. I don't prefer to stick to known dishes. There are many Chinese restaurants in our city. I often go to Chinese restaurant with my friends. Non spicy Chinese dishes have special test. Indian dishes are spicy. I'm happy that you like our Indian dishes. I have little experience about European dishes.

I have visited many of the other European countries, and I always eat some of the local food when I visit a new country. The food that I had in Eastern Europe was different from the Danish food in many ways, and I liked many of the local dishes. There are also many Chinese restaurants in my country, and I like to visit them with my friends. I also love to visit the Indian restaurants. There is an Indian restaurant on our neighbour island. Is is owned by some Indians who live in Denmark and their food is very delicious. I love spicy food. The Danish food is not spicy at all and it is very different from Indian food.

I don't have a tv, but when I was still living with my parents I often watched the travel channel. I think is very interesting to see the pictures from other countries and learn more about the culture. I have also watched some of the food that they prepared. I like to learn more about foreign food. In my own country the national food isn't spicy at all, and I love spicy food, that is one of the reasons why I like to eat food from other countries than my own.

I LOVE eating diff foods, whats the fun in eating the same old thing. I grew up on trying new foods and seeing new cultures and when my friends come over they need to at least try what we made then if they dont like it (almost always they like it) then we make them something else.

One of my friends is from Indonesia and when we were neighbours she often cooked Indonesian food for me. I got to know some very delicious dishes that way. My husband and I always like to experiment and sometimes we find new recipes online.

When I'm on holiday abroad I always try to eat the local dishes as then I can eat authentic food. When I go to restaurants I do tend to stick with what I know, which is Chinese, Italian, Indian, with Chinese being my favourite, but I do try different restaurants often rather then going to the same ones again and again. Whenever I go to a restaurant I never eat English food only is I'm in a pub, cafe or snackbar.

When I visit other countries I do the same thing. It is a great chance to eat some of the dishes that aren't available in my own country and I always visit some of the local restaurants. I have discovered some very delicious dishes that way. I don't like every local dish that I eat, but I like to try the local specialities at least once. Last year I travelled around in Europe and I liked the local food in Romania and Slovakia. I would never have gotten the chance to eat that food in my own country because there are no foreign restaurants from those places.

Food from other parts of Asia is available in my country like food from China, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand, but I have never seen a Korean restaurant here and as far as I know there aren't any. I hope that I will get the chance to eat Korean food one day, maybe when I visit another country than my own. Spicy rice cake sounds delicious, I love spicy food.
We have a similar website in my country, but so far few people have participated so it is not easy to find reviews or opinions about the different places, but I like the idea behind the website. It could be a nice way to find new inspiration and find places that I would like to visit.
