Excited about my poetry!

I have entered a poetry contest years ago, I think the name of the website was The international Poets Society. Anyway, I didn't win, but I did have a few of my poems published in their yearly poetry collection that they publish every year. I felt real good about it. You should feel like a million dollars.

I have known quite a few older and somewhat senile men who began to write poetry in their declining years. My uncle (for instance) decided he was poetically inclined when he was 80 something. His writing was awful, and his poems filled with ambiguities!

Hey congratulations! I envy people who can do poetry. I think it's a lost art, and people today are just busy living in the rat race. And I think that's the best form of validation, recognition. Even if you don't win, at least they already know that you do good work. The closest thing to a contest that I joined was a 'name the show' thing on TV. They were already coming out, and they wanted the audience to name their show. Well, I came up with the same name as the winner did, but I guess I was not the first one to submit it.

I have entered a poetry contest twice and both times got letters in the mail. They wanted to include the poems in a big book. Then they wanted mento buy the book. I think it was a scam. :( but it still felt good to get a letter in the mail telling me I was great. I wonder if my poems actually are in a book out there somewhere? That would be weird to stumble upon it and be like hey it wasn't a scam after all!

I have won several specialties for my writing. It was while I was in school, and then when I was teaching school seeing my son learn from me. Now I write articles for a company and its a nice feeling to know even while older I am still good at doing writing. The best of luck to you. Maybe we will read a book of your poems one day!

Wow, congratulations! The mere fact that they mailed and acknowledge your poem as one of the best is really something. As for me, I have entered a contest and won second prize but not a poetry contest. It's feels good to enrich and show the talents given to us by GOD. Have a great day ahead!

Yes, I have entered and won before. I forget the website that contacted me, but I think they wanted money or whatever to publish me or something. I never did anything with it.

I have not but my mom has and has won many awards for her poems. Some golden awards and silver and so forth. It was so cool to see them up on the wall and then seeing and knowing her very sould was being published to the world was amazing.
