How can you define God is a jealous god? Since He is justice God. He understand us. Most of us are willing to serve God but our priorities is not for God, some are saying his/her priority if to serve and praising God but in time of blessing, where is God in his/her life? Do you think in this example God jealous to us? Share more about this..

Hi visavis, Most people think of God as having the same traits as themselves and that's why they consider him to be a jealous God. I would like to ask the question; do you believe that being jealous is good? If Jealousy isn't good than it cannot be of God since God is good. Blessings.

Jealousy causes abusive relationships. It's one of the emotions that happens when the ego is threatened. It's paranoia that we are insufficient. Can a god be paranoid that he is insufficient? Or are gods supposed to be perfect?

For a god to have godlike qualities, a god wouldn't have human traits such as jealousy. I wonder why all the gods are thought to have human qualities? Isn't the very idea a little contradictory?
Also, if God sees all, then He must have foreseen humankind's behavior, so why should he be upset about it now?

I am just wondering if a god is perfect then how can a god have human emotions? Jealous, sad, or however anyone wants to translate it; it is still human emotion.

The way i understand that God is a jealous God is because he reveal so himself to his people in old and new testament, he want his human children to worship him only and not other divine or idol. He want us to commit ourself fully to him as he has shown over and over time again he is fully committed to us through his mighty hand and words of wisdom in his book. God is an all loving, merciful, just, all good and all mighty but also a jealous one too when his children don't devote fully to him but to other divine.

God is said to be a jealous God. This is because us people and moving forward to our own priorities and enjoyments in life without even thanking Him. God wants not a thank you that we just but a sincere and truthful thank you that we are glad of the things that He has given us..
YOur discussion leads to towards the differences of serving and praising God because we want to and serving and praising Him for his blessings.. Actually, those people who serves God because of their personal interests makes God a jealous God. He is jealous because He gives many things to us, but He is just remembered because we want something from Him, without even a thank you. On the other hand, praising God is without asking for something and keep on thanking him makes him happy..

Good question...I believe that jealousy is considered a sin in some instances, and God cannot sin, so I don't believe He is jealous. However I do believe He is saddened when we don't acknowledge Him in times of blessings and times of turmoil. Of course when things are going badly we turn to Him but when things are going good we tend to forget Him...

God is a jealous God in a way that he does not want to see us praising any other fake Gods aside from him. He wants our whole devotion. It's not in a wrong way most of us might see it but in a way that he just wants our whole heart devotion and serve him.
Loving God and doing his will is the best way to live life. That way, there would always be someone guiding us in our steps and because he's the most powerful one in the whole universe, nothing and no one can ever hurt us.

Some contributors need to understand this: There is a difference between jealousy and envy. Envy is always for that which is rightfully another's, for yourself - God is never envious. Jealousy is always for that which is rightfully yours, for yourself, or for that which is rightfully another's, for that other person, thus, for instance, Elijah was very jealous for the Lord God of hosts. God is a jealous God, both for Himself and His people.

our God is a jealous God. if we do not praise him, but praise his blessings towards us..
btw, its different, instead of praising the blessing, we should praise he who gave us that blessing.
ok continue.. God is so perfect that he wants us to do what he wants. We all fail in doing this, we also fail in searching for him.
honestly, if Jesus hadn't been born, all of us are doomed to hell. But God so love us, that he made his only son a sacrifice..
all we need to do is believe in Jesus, and your righteous acts will follow.
there is no other ticket to heaven but Jesus himself.

The context for the words " God is a jealus God" is that God loves us so much.
He has Agape love for us. He was willing to give up His one and begotten son Jesus Christ for us.
And God cannot bear if we go after other Gods instead of Him. Because He loves us so much.
He is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love. Ps. 103:8
This is exactly what the context here is.
In time of blessing, where is God in his/her life?
Well, to answer this question, First of all we have to ask ourselves; what is our motive when we seek Him. Is it to get blessing?
There is no problem when we desire blessing (Abraham, David, Daniel... were blessed)
But when we love Him, are we expecting blessings from Him instead?
just think of Jesus' desciples; They suffered so much. They didnt go after blessings. They didnt remain in their comfortable zone.
They proclaimed that Jesus is the Lord, even when they know that they would be persecuted in doing so.
They didnt complain when they were persecuted nor stopped proclaiming that Jesus is the Lord.
You know why? its because of the Holy spirit given to them. Acts 1:8 "you will recieve power when Holyspirit comes on you. and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and samaria, and to the ends of the world".
Holy spirit will help us.
And Jesus had prayed for them even before His crucifiction. read John 17:1-19 particularly verse 15.
please read Romans 8:35. They had this conviction.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
But God may discipline us. Because He is our father. it is for our own goodness sake that disciplines. just as father on earth disciplines us.
Even if our earthly father discipline us, he loves us. How much more will our father in heaven be?
