I hate my data plan!

My hubby got his iPhone way before me so he has an unlimited data plan. AT&T doesn't offer that plan anymore but he gets to keep his. I have a limited data plan and it's driving me crazy! We don't have home Internet so my phone is what I use all the time. I keep going over my data and I can't help it. I feel like I'm getting ripped off! I know I can use free wifi but I don't like trying to find a wifi place all the time. This really sucks! We would get Internet at our house but we live in the boonies and the only provider is ridicoulsly expensive!
How is your data plan? Do you use only your phone for the internet?

cupcake - a limited plan is good. we will talk less. less gossip, less problems, less tension. lesser number of times u will talk while travelling etc.

I never talk while in the car or text. I'd run off the road! Plus I can't concentrate on 2 things at the same time. I need my phone though because my family lives a ways off and I don't have gas money to check up on them constantly.

I know AT&T is pretty good in the boonies, so I know that you get pretty good signal there. Glad you said you live in the boonies because I was going to suggest Cricket if you had that, of course I don't think cricket has an iphone. What about boost? You could try finding a cheaper company with unlimited dataplans.
I go to the "boonies" atleast once a month and cricket sucks there! though stragiht talk works great they don't have an iphone. Sorry now Im getting off topic.

I can't switch companies because I still have awhile before my contract runs out. Stupid contracts! Lol

I'm glad I don't have smart phone anymore. I used to have blackberry through t-mobile because of my job. I was happy with their service. Now because of the change in my position within my work, I changed my phone to very simple flip phone. I do have data plan on it but it's only $10/month for unlimited. Oh, and now I have AT&T as well. I only do real basic stuff on internet on my phone so I don't really mind. Anything major, I do at home or on my laptop.

Oh wow, I know how you feel. I have switch companies twice already. I have been with T-Mobile and Sprint both with contracts, I am now with Virgin Mobile a prepaid company I have the Samsung Intercept which is and Android phone and the plan I have is unlimited everything (minutes, data, and web) all for $55 a month. I, too, got tired of the contracts because I fee that its a way to trap someone for 2 years. I do not use my phone just for the internet, if I am away fom my computer and need to look something up then it coes in handy. Hope you find something soon.

I am really lucky. We have been with our cable provider for years, and they also offer mobile deals. We get 800mins, 3000 texts, 1GB internet and a free samsung galaxy mobile for £10 a month, which is a steal! The package should be £30 a month, but we asked them to do us a better deal so they did. We have 2 of those deals in our house.
I dont know how it works there, but you could always try calling the cancellations dept and asking them if they can do you a better deal or else you'll leave. What works here is finding a good deal elsewhere, then approaching your provider and asking them to better it.

I started using my cell phone as a mobile hotspot recently. It can be annoying because wireless isn't always as fast as I would like it to be. I have 5GB of data I'm allowed to use that's considered "high speed". If I go over that limit, then my high speed "slows down", but I've gone over and hadn't noticed that much of a change. My laptop performs better with it connected wirelessly then it does if it were connected via eaithernet or some kind of cable. So it's not all that bad really. I can do what I need to with it and that's all that matters. And, rarely is it possible for things to go to the point I'm over my data limit because what I do online doesn't take up that much data.
