My mother, brother and I went 4-wheeling last weekend. It was the first time this year. Things have just been crazy these days. We usually go about every 2-3 weeks. We have a helmet law in our state. We saw Law Enforcement for the first time in 3-years of 4-wheeling. He politely told her it was the law to wear a helmet and to please put one on. She told him she didn't know that. We had been telling her for years. Well she agreed to get one and would start wearing it. We proceeding on with our ride. Heading back to the truck to load up and head home, I came around the corner and her feet were in the air and the 4-wheeler was on top of her. Talk about panick. However, I jumped off my while it was still rolling threw my helmet and glasses on the ground and ran to her. My brother's response wasn't a quick as mine. In fact, he told my mother he had no idea I could move so quickly. I tried to get the bike off of her and couldn't do it alone. Thank goodness my brother was with us. We got the bike off of her together and her lips were blue and she was unconscious. I got her aroused and continued talking to her. Stay with us mama, stay with us. She finally responded and the color came back to her lips. She wanted to get up. We could hardly believe it. We asked her if she could move her leg, because she never put it down this whole time. So we thought maybe her hip was broke or something. She was able to move it. She wanted to know what happen. Asked the same questions several times. Needless to say we wanted to take her to the hospital. Not my mother, she got back on the 4-wheeler finished the ride back to the truck, loaded her bike and she drove home. Unbelievable. Injuries sustained: head injury(nothing major), bumps, bruises and ribs cracked. She was one lucky woman. Tougher then nails. She did admit 4 days later she should've went to the hospital because she was knocked unconscious. I was glad she finally admitted it and that everything turn out okay. I could've been a lot worse. Ah, she will always wear a helmet now. How ironic that this happen on the same day that Law Enforcement told her she needs to have a helmet on.

Wow that is ironic. 4 wheelers can be very dangerous. I am glad she is okay although going to the hospital would have been a better choice. I don't know how to operate a 4 wheeler so I barley ever ride them even though when I did I remember they are a lot of fun. My friend's dad was fatally injured riding a 4 four wheeler and right before christmas. It was sad because he had just gotten back to his family from Iraq. It was a hard time. Be careful riding those 4 wheelers they are so dangerous.

Well I am really glad that your mom is okay! She truly does sound tough as nails to ride back to the truck and then drive home! I'd have been worried about her of course, as I know you were. Is she taking it easy now, and will she be going on your next four wheeling adventure? The last time I went four wheeling was in the winter, and actually I was just dragged around by a four wheeler in the snow on a sled.

She took things easy for a few days. Then she was up and running again. She drove about 6 hours to visit my grandmother on Thursday and should be home today. She's doing well considering things could've ended up really bad. I'm not sure if she'll be going on any other 4-wheel excursions this year. She needs to get some thing fixed on her bike and my brother and I refuse to take her again until she gets a helmet. Considering my husband and I have the only trailer and truck in the family to grounded. I guess we will just have to see. Thanks for responding. Best Wishes!

Wow! She Is lucky! I am glad she is ok now! Kudos to you for your fast response! When I was younger I flipped a few fourwheelers on me. Thankfully my dad was always there to rescue me! Safety is a must in anything we do and sometimes we forget that. Even riding a regular bicycle you need to wear a helmet.

Yes, we get to eager to do the fun things that safety becomes secondary to everything. I think she's learned a valuable lesson. Thank goodness it didn't end up worse then it was. Thanks for responding. Best Wishes!
