Is this the Best Method for Losing Weight??

We are getting reminded of this method more and more lately. I read about it many years ago and have just read an article about it. The method is Food Separation. What is it? Actually - this method may not only help to lose weight, but also improve our health and boost our energy. As most diets fail to work in the long run, but the kilos and pounds tend to come back faster than we think, we have to search for a more efficient method for keeping the overweight off. I think this method makes sense. Proteins need an acidic digesting environment. Carbs need an alcalic base. If you eat proteins and carbs together, the digestive fluids neutralize each other and the food is only partly digested if at all. We can have lots of undigested food in our stomach. Waist of money and energy.. There are two important rules: Eat Carbs only with other carbs, not with proteins and fats. Eat no carbs, except greens and non starchy veggies, with proteins and fats. I would like to add another important thing. Eat fresh fruit on empty stomach. If you do, it passes further very fast. - Then you can eat other food when you feel hungry again. It can be a bit difficult to get customized to this kind of diet. I have been trying for a while and some meals are very easy. - I start the day with drinking water. - Next meal is fresh fruits of different kinds. - Protein and veggies is easy to get accustomed with. - A porridge of oat flakes and buckwheat flakes cooked with raisins and other dried fruit tastes great. (It´s OK to eat cooked foods with other food or as dessert) But one favorite, bread and butter and cheese is not good together. It tastes great with coffee, but I should find something better. Do you have any ideas? More info is here: http://undergroundhealthreporter.com/food-separation

A very good topic! Whether or not people actually lose weight from doing this is besides the point - it's worth doing for all the other benefits that come with it alone! What's more, it doesn't actually cost us more to implement, but can save us money & energy too & utilize our food in a much more beneficial way. Blessings to you & may many more healthier choices come your way. I like the way the article encourages us to focus on expanding our thinking in regards to the food range available to us instead of just focusing on the negatives, like calorie counting & foods we shouldn't have. I hope more people can get away from the "meat & potatoes" mind set, as the article mentions. This is really something worth trying for everyone to benefit by. Well Done!

Thank you, veganbliss I felt that I had to share this interesting article with my friends in myLot.. We can eat many foods that we couldn´t before if we follow these principles. And there is a lot more to learn about right choices of fats etc.. And you are right, we might even save money and energy by eating this way, as our body can use the nutrition better. Have a great day..

Hi, axlrate7 Thank you so much for your kind words. There is so much to learn about health and I have had the possibility to listen to some scientists who are doing research on food supplements that I use and sell. If you go to gnld.com and do some searches and read the info, I think you will like it. I have got info there that I would not have got elsewhere. And they are doing more research all the time.. If you want to ask something, you know where you´ll find me..

I think I eat a lot like you, except for the coffee, which I do not drink. But being very active, I never worry about my weight. Usually I am too skinny rather than too heavy, so I go ahead and have cheese and butter with my pasta. I do not eat a whole lot of bread.

Hi, Ann I was maybe too skinny when I was younger and didn´t manage to get more weight. Now I would be happy to be that skinny - almost - but I think my thyroid needs some treatment. I try with natural foods, but if that doesn´t help, I´ll have to get some medication. One of my frieds who has saved her life with the same food supplements I take, suggested to eat more wheat germ oil, with all the 8 E-vitamins, to balance the cholesterol which in turn should balance the thyroid. I also eat algae, coconut oil and a herb product, and hope it will help. I am not very strict with the food, but most meals are separated - carbs and protein..

That's all just too much for me to remember and I doubt I'd stick to something like that. Lifestyle change, plain and simple. I look at life 100 years ago and more and I see that people were not suffering from obesity like they are today. That is because they didn't have all these fancy "energy-saving" gadgets. I don't mean they used less electrity, I mean the people a long time ago had to use physical energy to do much of what we push a button to do today. Also, they didn't have the processed foods we have today. They didn't have McDonald's Big Macs and didn't drink sodas and juices with added sugars and high fructose corn syrup like we do today. Those people were much healthier, too! I began changing the way I eat and moving around more when I decided it was time to lose a little weight and it worked. Today, I rarely even think about what I'm eating because picking up an apple instead of a donut is natural to me. Grabbing a glass of water instead of a soda or sugary fruit juice is perferrable to me. Also, I started doing things that I used to push a button for, like washing dishes. I own a dishwasher but never use it. Occasionally, my son will help with the dishes, like during a holiday meal, and he'll use the dishwasher but I never do. I also wash a lot of my smaller or more delicate laundry by hand and hang all my laundry outside to dry. That not only saves money but gives me more exercise. I am thinner and my blood pressure has come down as well as my blood sugar level. The best part of it is that I quit smoking 11 months ago and never gained an ounce! Most people eat more when they quit smoking. I may have, also, but I'm eating very healthy foods, raw fruits and veggies and very little red meat and, with the extra energy I have because I'm not smoking, I'm able to move around more, exercise more and I feel so much better! It's an entire lifestyle change and it's working for me. Plus, I don't have to think about what I'm eating or when I'm eating it.

Hi, mentalward and congratulations for the choices you are making to keep healthy. You are right there, we need to find a lifestyle that we can continue and feel comfortable with to keep healthy. I´m so happy that you stopped smoking as it must help to feel a lot better too. Well done! No wonder our parents and grandparents had more energy. We should all keep to that kind of natural food and move much more! Have a great summer..

This seems like a great way to go about it. I know for instance Dr.Oz says that if you drink fresh squeezed orange juice, when you have your oats in the morning, it is like 2 + 2 = 8 in terms of health benefits. So, they way we eat foods together can have a drastic effect on each aspect of our lives. From a strictly weight loss point view, I must point out that no matter what DIETS do not work, because most people think, I will diet until I lose the weight, and then go back to "normal", but it is from what is normal that a lot of the weight is gained, so it is more a matter of changing our attitude about food, rather then adjusting what we eat, or how we eat it. You try this, and it works for you, keep it up forever and always, make it a part of your lifestyle, that is the key, to keep them pounds off, it isn't a diet, it has to be a lifestyle change. Lean source proteins, and fiber rich carbohydrates, and loving support from all you feed. At least that is the opinion I have formed over the course of my studies, Which is another great thing, the more you know about how food is utilized in your body, the more likely you are to be apt to make these changes a part of your habits. Sincerely and With Appreciation.

Hi, CJ You are right, no diets for me either, I am trying to get used to a healthy lifestyle and keep to it. More raw food, veggies and fruit! @happymamma - welcome to myLot!! You have all reasons to keep a healthy life style as you have children to take care of and that takes a lot of energy. Yes, we should enjoy our food, that contributes to our health too!! Wish a good health to you both

I fully agree with you CJscott! One think most people on diet forget is that your so called diet or eating regime must never end. I have lost a lot of weight after my second pregnancy for other than health reasons but since than I do not allow myself to eat endlessly and sporadically. In this way I am keeping my body the way I want it and I still enjoy my food!

If this method is not hard for you, then maybe this is the best way, but if not, there's so many ways available in the market and at net for losing weight, but as for me I eat what I want to eat but always in moderation. and of course exercise helps a lot.

There is no clearly define rule for taking off excess pound in a person, so weight reduction method is only effective base on individual unique biological, physiological and life style, it is very difficult for me to tell you the exact formula for wight reduction, because there is no magic bullet in dealing with this health related issue, each over weight person is different and need a different plan to achieve the desire result of losing weight. In general, if you want to reduce weight, then eat less, and in a small portion, go exercise and be active... that should be enough for most of the moderately heavy people, while for the extreme case, more programs are needed.

Yes, we are all different and may need different nutrition for weight loss. Some can eat as much as they want and are never overweight. Others can´t even look at sweets and cakes without getting a pound extra weight.. But we are free to test if these principles work on us. If they do, we have found something valuable that will give more energy than our earlier diets. Excercise is important for all of us, as our body is designed to move.. Have a great day..

I usually drink at least 500ml or two tall glasses of water before I hit breakfast. I always eat a full meal breakfast to start my day right. Then I make it a point to hit the gym if not in the morning, I would go in the afternoon or sometimes at night. I spend one hour in different cardio machines and one and a half hour weight lifting and weight in every set of repetition to burn fats even when I'm done exercising. I've been doing this for two years now and I've lost eleven pounds already. I'm feeling great and I love what I'm doing at the moment and will continue to live a healthy lifestyle.

Hi, xuyxuy You are really doing a lot to keep in shape - just continue if you feel good about it. Our body is designed to move, so we should do that every day.. Happy excercising..

I start the day with drinking water just like you. I go for a jog after for 45 minutes. I eat two slices of whole wheat bread for breakfast. So far I have lost 4 pounds in two weeks. That is a very nice progress for me. Happy to shed a little weight.

You seem to be ttrying very hard to lose weight, and what you have said is a great way to do so. I know the easiest way to lose weight, though it is very hard. There is no easy way to lose weight. All you have to do however, is eat FRESH foods and eat until you START to feel full. People think if they eat less they wil lose weight, but really you should just eat enought hat you start to feel full, because then you have enough food to last you til next meal and you won't go starving yourself. Also if you eat all fresh foods, that means less fat, less preservatives, and no grease, which are all major contributors to gaining weight. I am no nutritionist expert, believ me, but you don't need to be on eto know these simple facts.

Hi, Chicky86 and welcome to myLot! You are right that we need lots of fresh foods, or raw vegetables and fruit as it is the most natural food for us. Some fats are very important too of course. But they should come from nuts, avocados, fresh olives or cold pressed oils etc. Have a great day..

Hi, cow_boy and welcome to myLot!! You may be right, but I have found some info about that the kind of calories mean a lot too. Our glycemic index, or sugar level should have very little swings so that we don´t store the extra sugar as fat. So, better eat food that doesn´t rise our sugar levels. And excercise and take care of our health otherwise..
