When you are new and write something in a word processor, just to ensure that the syntax is correct, and then try to paste it in a discussion's text box while participating in discussions you get this message,
"Only users with rating greater than 500 are allowed to paste"
What do you feel when you get the above message?

Yeah, it did annoy me at first, but then I hit 500 and yeah! No more paste prevention!!
I use the built in spellchecker that Firefox has. That is usually enough for my spelling and grammar. Luckily here, people don't seem to mind too much if you get things a little mixed up, just so long as its kind of understandable. I only really use paste for posting links. That was the thing that annoyed me most about not being able to paste, as I was having to type in these reeeeeeally long URLs all the time just to back up what I was saying! Grrr!

Although I understand why you can't use the paste function if your rating is under 500, it is annoying. The amount of times I start typing something and then decide that part of it needs to be moved but I can't copy and paste is more then you'd think, so I do find it frustrating as it means I then have to re-type.
The bit I don't get is no matter you're rating you can still cheat and paste something from another site etc.

There was a big problem with people trying to abuse the system by copying and pasting whole discussions and responses so it was made a rule that nobody could copy and paste until they had a user rating/activity rating of 500.
Yes, I can see that it is inconvenient for some but it is one of the things which we have to live with in this iniquitous world!
Both Firefox and Internet Explorer (and possibly other browsers) have spell checking either built-in or as an add-on. I find that very useful, even though I am a native English speaker. Grammar checkers are, to be honest, less useful (even in MS Word) but MyLot is very forgiving. So long as what you post is comprehensible, nobody is going to criticise your grammar or spelling here (unless you ask them to).
I would suggest, however, that you don't use 'txtspk' contractions (such as 'u' for 'you' and 'plz' for 'please'. The MyLot 'quality' checker is remarkably good but it can't recognise such things as English (and rightly so!)

When I first saw this message I was like - Oh my, there goes my spelling and grammar. Well I guess MyLot had to make sure that no one can abuse the system by spamming links so they had to make sure that the most active members can only perform this process. I wouldn't blame them though, it might be incovenient but its a good security to keep MyLot going.
