August goals

Goal setting - Achieving your goals

So, now that it's August I officially only have one month until I go back to uni. I've been trying to think about the things I'd like to achieve this month, since it'll soon be back to essays, lectures and limited free time. So, my goals are: Online: 1. To reach 500 posts here on mylot 2. To complete the 10 Squared challenge on Helium (I joined yesterday so so far I have no articles ) 3. To post at least another 5 articles to the student blog I contribute to 4. To decide, once and for all, whether to be brave enough to start the blog I've wanted to for ages. 5. To reach 6,000,000 in neopets (ambitious, I'm at 5.1million right now) Friends and family: 1. To take my little sister out at least once for sister time 2. To have at least one family day out 3. To see my friends as much as possible since in a month we'll be all over the country again 4. To go on a date with my partner, before back to evenings packed with sports clubs, work, essays and household chores Health & Money: 1. To go to the dentist (Terrifying, but necessary) 2. To update my CV ready for job hunting back at uni 3. To open a good savings account to put wedding savings in 4. To take full advantage of my gym membership - trying to go 3 times a week I think that's about it...Or at least that's all I can really think of right now. Do you set goals on a monthly basis? Yearly? Daily? How do you motivate yourself to stick to them? What are you hoping to achieve this month?

Hey boy you have a lot of stuff planned for the month and good luck to you and be motivated and get all those tasks completed. I havent really decided as to what I need to accomplish in this month of August but my main priority is to get to $10 here at Mylot so that I can cashout and it will make me really happy. Also I am trying to replyto at least 10 discussions a day. Also if I find another online site for earning than may be some time there as well. If possible travel back home on my weekly offs for two days as it will be my mothers birthday. So all in all I just hope for a superb August 2011 and hope everthing goes as per plan..

Girl, but whatever lol. Thanks, being motivated is definitely the biggest problem, it's hard not to get distracted (ie by posting loads on mylot!) and forgetting about another goal. I'm hoping to reach payout soon, but I don't think it will be this month unless I get higher than the 500 I'm aiming for as I'm only at $7 now I'm afraid I don't really know of any other online earning sites - I joined helium yesterday but haven't posted any articles yet. Other than that I joined microworkers, which I really liked at first, but now there seems to be less jobs (and less types of jobs) which makes me sad. I hope you can get back for your mother's birthday, that'd be really nice. Here's hoping we all have a fab August 2011 and can achieve our goals. Good luck!

It is really great to see someone think so much and to say the truth I am not at all a person who even thinks about what to do tomorrow that maybe also because I am a housewife and there is nothing interesting to look forward to but I really loved the goals that you have set for yourself and wish all the very best and hope that you get the time to complete all your set goals. Have a nice day.

Thank you so much Normally when I'm at uni, I'm busy trying to keep up with so much stuff, that I forget about the things I actually want to do, because I'm busy doing all the things I need to do. So I figured I might as well use the time I have off, to get some of that stuff done. How about a mylot goal? Or a treat for yourself like a new book, or time for a bubble bath, painting your nails or trying a new recipe? I find it always cheers me up when I'm busy to think of the little things I've achieved/treated myself too - make sure you make time for yourself too!

I set goals on a weekly basis. This week, I need to catch up on paperwork, take my son to the beach, and clean out the freezer. I also want to sew a sunhat. I find it easier to do shorter timelength goals because otherwise I put things off. I think I have a lot of time and then I do nothing.

I've never heard of Shvoong or forex, but good luck with both of those! I think you should be fine with your mylot goal - with 4873 posts, you aren't exactly new around here, so hopefully you've got the hang of things Good luck with your fasting - I know I could never do it. If it wouldn't make me so fat and unhealthy, I'd probably eat every hour, I'm sorta obsessed with food. Put it this way, anyone who knows me well gives me directions in terms of "Turn left at the mcdonalds, go past the KFC and turn right onto the road with the thai restaurant" instead of directing me using street names! I think a lot of us could benefit from being more patient, this is a great goal, and I may have to adopt it. Regarding your occupational goals, I guess your students also hope you can get those done! Good luck with all of your goals

Hi. Wow, what a very organized August Goal. My usual monthly goal is to be able to pay my bills and to budget, lol. Good luck hope you accomplish all your goals.

Thank you Those will be my goals next month, along with desperately searching for a job since I'll be going back to uni and my student loan will pay for my rent exactly. I then somehow need to find money for food, bills, my car, a social life, and saving! Good luck with the budgeting, I know it can be seriously hard to stick to one.

Goals and to do lists are two different things. I have a huge to do list because I start my new job in two weeks. Personal: 1. Maintain my current level of fitness. 30 minute walk/jog pushing the jogging stroller every day. 3 days a week 30 minute strength training 2. have the house ready for my husband and I both working. Laundry done, folded and put away. 3. Have a meal list for the first two weeks back at work and everything needed for them in the house. Money: 1. Maintain current savings. 2. Add to daughters savings account ***the money one is not going to happen because i need $2000 in repairs done on my car, but I can pretend that it is going to happen.

Good luck with your new job. Yes, I agree that a to-do list is different to a list of goals - my to-do list is full of boring things like tidying my room etc that I know I WILL have to do eventually, my list of goals is things I want to try to achieve now with my free time. Wow, that's quite a lot of exercise! I'm possibly the most unfit person ever, and I'm hopeless at keeping on top of household things too! The one thing on your list I would be good at is the meal planning - I generally do the cooking at home since my parents are working all day and I'm not. I sit down once a week and plan all the meals, check what we need, do the shopping etc. I actually quite enjoy it! I need to save too, but I don't physically see how I can - I'm jobless, as no one's hiring, and I certainly can't find a job willing to take somebody on for just a month Good luck with all of your goals, and sorry to hear about your car!

Hey there! Those are a lot of goals, but I hope you can achieve each and every one of them. I have a tip or some tips actually now that I think about it, that I hope will be helpful. Here in the US several banks have something that at my bank is called a way to save. This is where, $1 goes from my checking to my savings at every purchase I make with my debit card. It definitely comes in handy for savings. Do you have a bank like that that you can do that with? Well as you may know I have recently found a job (again after sometime) and so I will be working. However, I still want to achieve some goals here online with mylot. My goal is to make $32.00 every month so that this will help me pay for things I need, or be my entertainment money. Offline, I need to start organizing things and getting them packed up etc, things I don't use put away. I do not set goals really all that much but am going to start doing so, and I motivate myself by saying I can better myself and telling myself what is at stake if I don't.

You seem like an organized person and this can seem like an understatement while looking at your post here. I only have one goal this month and that's keeping my job.
@drasnian (548)

Haha, I know the post makes me seem organised, but I'm really very definitely not! My room is always a state, I can never find anything, I lose virtually everything.... But I am pretty good at planning (it's just the sticking to the plan that's hard). Is there any reason you wouldn't keep your job? good luck anyway, I'm jealous - I can't find a job and so I'm very skint. Thought I'd better do at least something productive this month!

It sounds you are an organized person.I wish you the very best pf luck fulfilling all you've planned to achieve. I, myself will carry on with my studies, start going to the gyn once a week, take riding lessons, once a week and spend time with my family and online friends. Probably be here on mylot reading participating in discussions.

I'm honestly not, but I'm trying to be, and I think I'm slowly getting better. What are you studying? Good luck with it. I'm keen to try to go to the gym more, but the problem is I'm always too lazy lol. Riding as in horse-riding? I can't think of any more types of riding lol. I haven't ridden a horse in years, but my mum goes to lessons and loves them. Good luck with all of your goals

very nice list of goals you have made... this is something i really need to do as well... i have got soo much i need to accomplish

Thank you I decided that having them written down somewhere (and essentially announced to anyone on mylot who wants to listen) might make me more motivated to stick to them. There's no way I can skive off thinking "Well, no one will ever know anyways". Try breaking things down into small-ish chunks, that might seem more manageable. Ie thinking that all I need to do for my mylot goal is post 6 posts (ish) per day, makes it seem much more achievable than thinking about posting 170 odd times. On the other hand, that makes it seem okay to miss a day so maybe I shouldn't think that way!
