Why send a Chain Letter to a true Friend? ( A rant)

One of my dear friends thought it was ok to send me a chain letter. I went from nice to b!tch in Two seconds! I feel that these " letters' are nothing but Spam And in a way it is wishing me ill! Why? It always says if you do not send this mail to 10 friends you will have bad luck or worse you will die.Isn't that wishing someone ill? I wrote back I have always been willing to die since the age of 13 so bring it on. And then I told him if he Ever sends me spam like this , friendship is Over! needless to say he apologized Quickly! but I wanted to ask you , how do you react to a chain letter?

I was annoyed by chain letters too it's because they threatened you in someway, that if you don't follow what they said like sending it to many friends you'll be jinx or something like that, usually when I received chain messages I just ignored it and delete.

I have deleted acquaintances for this. But this was a close longtime friend so that's why I blew up. He apologized and took me off his chain letter list.So it worked out well.

I get them from alot of Christians saying God will bless me with good fortune. I never answer them. I usually send an e-mail back to the friend who sent it to me asking if I fall short and only send to 9 people will God condemn me. Or maybe if I double the amount sent I will receive much good fortune...hmmm I could use about a million dollars, maybe I'll send to 100 people. Oh wait, what if the people that I send to don't re-send...if they die does that mean my letters never made it to the spam god. Oh crap sarahruthbeth now I'm confused. Yes...I Hate Them Also. They insult my intelligence. I can not believe that people actually believe this crap and continue the letters.

I think chain letters are so 1980's! Even the upgraded versions flying around on emails, and even Facebook. I think it's all a waste ink, computer memory, and effort for all the ones that receive them. It should go by ways of the dinosaur.

I receive such letters too. The last time fewer. I find them bored and, when I open them, I don't go on to end by reading and, finally, I delete them. It's a waste of time if you send them towards to other people.

I just ignore them and delete them. I don't think it's as complicated as you're trying to make it sound, with friends trying to "wish you harm" or anything. People tend to send them if they like the message that goes along with it, or they think its funny. I say just let it go and delete them, don't even bothering opening it because you can normally tell from the subject line what it is. I don't think I'd ever stop being friends with someone, or even be a b*tch to them over something like that. It's a little thing that can easily be ignored in my opinion.

I don't go to the police unless I want to know where the nearest donut shop is!Besides this type of power the police can't do anything.IOt isn't " simple, harmless, and mostly annoying" to me! I do believe in fate and this letter is a symbol of others trying to f@ck with it. Coming from a friend is what hurt so I exploded. No Worries we are still friends and the G-ds have smiled on my Since the letter so I did react the correct way. I do handle the other things far better. I guess this is where we differ too.

I guess that's where our views differ. I wouldn't take it as a legitimate threat on my life. Chain letters prey on nothing more then your belief of superstition. If you don't buy into it then it can't hurt you in the slightest. Also, not to be rude, but if you brought this into the police station and reported it as threat on your life they would not take you seriously at all. I just feel like there are many other things in life to get that worked up over, and a simple, harmless, and mostly just annoying chain mail is not one of them.

Believe me, those things drive me absolutely nuts too!!! I hate them. The other day a very religious lady I know sent me one about putting God back in the public schools, etc. When I responded (nicely, but honestly) about how God is where people take Him individually, not in the communal prayers people are forced to pray, she made up some silly excuse about how she just sent the pictures! (like there's nothing religious about a beautiful picture of Jesus, and a glowing cross?) AARRGGHH!!! I don't know about some people... I have no time for those, even from my best friends. Some of them have a really right-wing message too, and I'm as liberal as they come. I just delete them, and move on.

There wouldn't any moving on until I send them a message of my own! In this case I let him Have it! we are still friends because he apologized and took me off his chain letter list.

hi Sarahruthbeth ug I get them, daily from mychildhood best friend she is back in south Dakota and I am in California. I cherish our friendship but she does not know that for every one or two I read I delete the other 25 she sends. If I respond to one that goes through that bad luck its deleted.I told her no chain letters and mostly she has quit doing that. But my lord she sends me twenty or thirty of these articles every day and my box is full. some are not chain letters and are interesting but so many? I would rather she tell me about herself more. And anyone else sending me a chain letter I tell them I do not do chain letters so please do not send them as I will not pass them on.And I have again reminded my best friend do not send me chain letters please.

If she can't take no for an answer , I would notify my email agent that All her mail is spam and have it set for it goes there automatically. I was so livid I was willing to write him off but he apologized and took me off his chain letter list. But if I hadn't blown up he would have assumed it was ok to send this cr@p to me.

I never open a chain letter and even if i do i just delete it without a thought.I know that it can`t kill me as i will go when my time comes and gladly so.In the olden days we used to get them by post and we would just throw them in the dustbin. Now its by email. So that too goes in trash.

These days, I don't have anyone in my life who would do that (except, maybe, my boyfriend's mother). So, I haven't had to deal with email forwards, chain letters, and other stupid stuff like that. I've pretty much weeded out the people who would do stuff like that. The people that I keep closest to me are educated individuals who don't "get" the point of stuff like that either. If I did receive something like that these days, I'd probably offer to buy the person some contraceptives.

One of my friends send me chain letters sometimes. I just delete them, I don't even read them and I would never pass them on to my other friends. My friend doesn't send them to me because she wants bad things to happen to me. She does it because she is superstitious and because she believes that something bad will happen to her if she doesn't send the letters to her friends. She believes that we both safe as long as I pass them on as well. I never do that because I don't believe in them.

I am superstitious and that's why I will not send any of these letters . I believe The Fates don't Have to threaten a person with bad luck , they just give it. I also believe Anyone who sends me a letter wishes me ill Because they don't know it but I will never send them to anyone else . And if they Truly read these letters by not sending them , bad things are to happen. And since I Won't , they are wishing me ill. My friend won't be sending me any more letters because he knows if he does , it will be the end of the friendship!

I hate them too. Especially the ones that say you'll go broke or die if you don't send it to 150 people To be honest..I usually just delete them and fuss under my breathe. The worst are those darn texts...I remember threatening my daughter a long time ago..before we had unlimted...that if she sent them I was going to throw her phone off the Cherokee bridge. She said..but I'm going to have a hundred years of bad luck...I told her she hadn't seen bad luck until she chained that text..lol.

I do believe in good and bad luck. But I do not respond well to threats.I usually threaten back. And that's Exactly what I did. I said if I'm to die so be it.... But it has been three days or so and I have some good luck. Oh Well! I am no parent. The first thing I thought of with the comment from your daughter , was Not to threaten but to run the phone over with a car!

I have gotten chain letters in the past. I ended up throwing them away! They would say all you just mentioned! They are spam and a waste of time! People who send them just seem to want to cause trouble!

It's huge for me. In fact if he hadn't apologized , the friendship would be over. 5 years ago I would have Just left , no email to express my anger over it. I would have just disappeared.

I exactly feel the same way. I don't understand why some people believe in chain letters. It doesn't make any good but a waste of time. I hate it when my friends send those tons of chain letters. I just don't reply on it. I ignore them all. I don't want to have a bad day just because i worry too much not sending these messages for at least 10 people because i do not have enough load on my cell phone. I use the prepaid. It is silly and next time i will tell them not to send those anymore.

I cannot stand those rotten chain letters either. I used to get some of those as spam, I never opened them and I always deleted them. Now, I am not one of those people that believe in all that mumbo jumbo about chain letters and bad luck. But to me it's just annoying.
