Hello poets and poetry fans! Does anyone write haikus? I've encountered haikus during elementary and my high school days, which we learned in our workbooks. Though I'm not Japanese, writing haiku seems to be fun. I would like to share some of my work which I've written yesterday afternoon.
"Solitude"
Moments passing by
Watching fallen blades of grass
Near the riverside
"Distant Lover"
Waiting for the sun
Shining through the clear blue skies
Hoping your return
"Special One"
Swift like soaring birds
Footsteps gliding with real charm
One bewitching smile
"Feelings"
Smiling as you came
Mornings seem completely nice
With you by my side
"Broken"
Oh, rain of sorrow
Wash these tears of my real pain
Learning I was wrong

Last Sunday, I was with a group of friends brainstorming on what we can do as individuals to bring about solutions to environmental problems. In the course of our wide-ranging discussion, one described a "haiku" as "photography in words." I think I know now what he meant.
Beautiful!

I'm very fond of reading poems, Nightarchangel, but I have not really seriously applied myself to writing one.

That sounds great, I suggest you try writing haiku too, and I'm sure you'll be a great writer!

Yeah! We are here to inspire each other. I need to improve my English too. I think reading poetry by English poets would be good to find the right words. My friend 1hopefulman has taught me a great deal. And I like his poetry. He has many poems in Triond and at least one in myLot.
There is an online Bible in watchtower.org with modern English and biblegateway.com has many translations in English too.
The Bible has lots of poetry and it is interesting to compare different languages to better understand what the writers meant in the original text.
New World Translation is very accurate and follows the original languages as close as possible.
Happy studies..
