The Facebook craze---online social networking

A huh! I'm back again people! And not to forget my usual greeting line, 'Hi Mylotters, good day!' Yea, it's been 4 months since I last posted here and to be honest, I didn't visit this site once, as I've been sort of 'integrated' into Facebook. It was kind of strange, as I began to wander more and more and deeper into the world of online social networking. Now I finally realize how addicting it can be looking into the current 'status' of our friends, refreshing the page and seeing how many likes we have everytime we post something on our own wall or our friend's wall. Well, this all started as I began to lose a slight interest in Mylot. I thought of taking a break from frequent mylotting and going to my not once frequented Facebook profile page to explore a bit, the features here and there. This exploration, lol, took my four months away from my daily mylotting. I used to say, hmm, why do people like to visit FB so much, looking at other people's status and posting on their walls etc. Ironically, for these four months which I was away, I was the one doing all those things which I deemed 'crazy' or 'silly' or even 'boring'. LOL! I then realized how powerful FB can be. Nowadays, I posted photos of aircrafts, which is something which I like and have since created two albums in there. Received many likes too! Hmm...maybe now, I may still be in FB but I should just come back to Mylot and chat with you guys. Not to forget though, this is a site which remains in my top 5 favourite sites list!!!

Hiya Judge, Nice to see you back here. I had not realized it had been that long either. You can get engrossed in Facebook yes but I have got over that ages ago. I will post a few short messages sometimes like a comment from someone I know and that is about it. Most of the times that I am on there there is no one around anyway. Sort of reminds me of an abandoned Ship half the time. But we are all there for all of us given the needs its just that we have our lives to live as well. Most of those People I went to School with you see so we take it easy and comment here and there and thats it.xxx

Hi angels! Long time no chat here! Well, in FB, all I did was to find my secondary school friends and even my current poly friends too. It's good that I can find them but along the way, guess you're true, we do get bored, and that's why I 'flew' back to Mylot . Comments, yea. Full of it on FB, but that's just what we do when we're bored. I use my FB to post pictures mainly and already have 2 albums in there. But what makes me happy is that there are people who share the same interest as me though!

Hiya Judge, Well thats great if you can find all of your Friends together on there. True that you can get bored from time to time. I have to diversify my time online as well. A little bit here and a little bit there. So I am not always on Facebook much maybe about ten minutes a Day I have put a limit on it I think you have to really otherwise you would not get all the important things done would you? So happy for you to find so many Friends with the same interests as well lucky for you.xxx

Welcome back. I too am on Facebook many hours of the day. I leave mylot often for maybe a few weeks and check in once in a while. Still on facebook but have recently been getting a little bored of it. I play cityville a lot and that is my main reason sometimes for going there. BUT this last week I have been visiting MyLot everyday.. Might as well make something of my boredom and earn a little bit of cash while I do it.

True. It's better like that. Juggle between two different sites except that one has benefits, another is just for relaxation's sake.

Yea thanks! I'm certainly happy with the management here and most importantly, the community here is friendly and welcoming, which was what made me stay here for almost 3 years? Yea.

Hiya, Well, I topped you in the disappearance, I was away for one whole year! In the process I did get into FB but couldn't really participate here, just wasn't in the mood to do so. But back to the topic, I don't really post much in FB, in terms of status and comments, mostly I played games and get updates about friends, that already took up much of my time. You are right that such sites are really addictive, before I know it, hours have passed and I didn't know it! I'm trying to break the habit of playing games there but have not succeeded so far. I'm glad to come back to mylot as I think I'm spending time in a more meaningful way here.

Hi there! You're most welcome. Well, I've just taken so long a break from Mylot and now it's just my wish to come back here so, I wouldn't say I quit FB completely because I still have a lot of photos to share with those friends in FB who also share the same interest as me---planes and aviation. I join in their group too talking about the latest technology in planes and the current happenings too. So, I would say I'll be focusing more here instead of FB

Facebook is like an addiction to everyone - I MEAN EVERYONEEE. Seriously. Specially, the young generation. I have an account on facebook as well, but rarely log in :D Facebook is a way of fast and easy communication. Maybe now you don't agree cause i heard my daughter saying 'New Chat is Bad'. But still,Facebook plays a very important in all our lives. Chatting, messaging, Sharing Photos, sharing information, playing games and other social activities. AND THE BEST THING IS WE ARE GETTING ALL THIS FOR FREE. Thanks to Mark Zuckerberg :) Now enough of good points, Let's discuss some of the adverse affects as well. Facebook is useful until n unless it's used in a positive way. Misuse should not be done. And people specially teenagers should be careful. No misuse should be done. But at the end Facebook remains our favourite forever. :D

Yea! I agree. FB can be used to anyone's advantage and also disadvantage. Once someone becomes addicted to it, it'll really be harmful, especially to students, who are now largely connected to FB, playing the games in there LOL.

Welcome back judge ironfist from your wanderings in FB.I am also a FB member but not by choice.I hardly ever visit the site and that too when somebody`s birthday comes up.Then i open it and send my wishes.Otherwise i am not very sociable and find that it is a waste of time being on it However i like the anonymity of mylot and responding to the discussions besides we get paid which is a plus point.

In some ways, I think FB is important, but I forbid myself from delving deeper into the many nuances of that social networking site. Because I know what you mean, you could get lost in there reading up on all the life-happenings of all your friends, and their own network. Nowadays, I've shelved my FB-interest on my phone. It could notify me for anything directly related to me, but it is small enough (phone-screen) that I get tired browsing through all the pages. Welcome back!

Facebook is still as popular compared to previous years. Though old time users are fading and leaving the scene, but there are always new faces coming in. I don't hate facebook but i'm not a fan either. In fact it's boring and tedious when they are continous stream of strangers trying to add us, and in order to stop that, we have to edit our privacy settings. It's too troublesome. I have my account, but i left it idle.

I don't really frequently post status on my facebook as I have nothing to say and there's nothing on my mind. But whenever I post and someone post funny message, it makes me smile and laugh. Same also, whenever I post new pictures. I remember, I posted a picture of me and a famous runner here in the philippines. I received 20 comments in just 10 minutes. Their different comments and reactions made me laugh. I can say that browsing FB can be addictive but If you do that everyday, you'll get bored.
