Outside noisy and inside empty is exactly the state of our world today. We see lot of things going around. But inside, within ourselves, we haven't tried to dive in like the divers do. We are the same primitive person but we call ourselves modernized, intelligent and human beings. But the actual meaning of human being is not connected with these more things. Our life is a gift and utilizing the gift in our hands. In the same way, vegetarianism is one of the essences of our lives. It is surely a healthier and better way of life. We see and hear of many great saints. Do they consume meat? The answer to this question is "no". This is becuase they have known the essence of human. We are so proud that we are more superior to other animals. But in reality, it isn't. We are savages and we are sinners. We don't have any right to take away others life. Now with this statement, it does not mean that animals don't have life. Animals are also same like us. But when we analyze and realize that all of us have same breath, the same blood and the force inside, we realize that we are same.

First of all I would like to point out that ' If all the people in the world turn vegetarian then there wont be enough food for all'. I am a vegetarian myself but I believe non vegetarian food has more nutritive value than veg food. Both veg and non veg food have their merits and demerits but you cannot say which one of them is better To each one its own

Welcome to My Lot! Yes, I've heard that assumption before from some people from your country regarding food scarcity. The opposite is actually true & more believable! Any supposed benefits to animal flesh can be more than adequately substituted by plant-based foods. Turning feed into flesh into food is the single most inefficient industry on earth, operating at a maximum efficiency of just 0.1%! Any other industry that did this would be discarded long ago. If the government didn’t give the meat industry any subsidies, then the hamburger that some people eat—produced by clearing forests in India alone—would cost US$200! Not just 99 cents like you buy it in some shops. Our tax money goes to the government, the government subsidizes the meat industry — that is how the industry survives! So it’s a losing business. Everywhere, from the US to China, the government has to subsidize animal farmers by paying them at least tens of billions of US dollars every year! Tens of billions of US dollars every year for the meat industry! And where does the money come from? Our taxes! Livestock uses up to 12 times the amount of grain as the same amount of vegetable protein. About 730 million tons of the world’s grain harvests are used to produce animal protein. This could feed all the hungry people, numbering 1 billion in the world, and many times over. It takes over 1200 gallons of water to grow 1 serving of beef, but only 98 gallons of water for one complete, nutritionally balanced vegan meal. While 1.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water, we waste 3.8 trillion tons of precious clean drinking water each year for livestock production. The manure and sewage from stockyards, chicken factories, and other feeding facilities has been shown to be polluting the world’s water supplies. Half of the grain and hay that's fed to beef cattle is grown on irrigated land. Meat production uses up to 70% of the world’s clean water. Sustaining a meat-eater’s diet requires more than 4,000 gallons of water daily versus 300 for vegetarians, (less for organic vegans like me!). Animal products require 8 times as much fossil fuel energy to be produced, compared to vegetable products. A study found that meat and dairy production in Mexico use the most agricultural supplies & resources in the country & this is reflected elsewhere around the world as well. All the evidence speaks so loud and clear. If these resources – land, water, and grain – were turned instead towards the direct support of human life instead of livestock, what a different world we would have! If all the world turned to a vegan organic diet now, not only would there be more than enough food, but all the world's hungry would be adequately fed. I'm sorry, but the pro's of veg diets clearly outweigh any for consuming animal products.

I appreciate your comment. As you say it may depend upon one to another according it his or her believes and religion. But I am quite sure that saying that there won't be enough food if all people in the world turns vegetarian is quite questionable.

No definately not! you need to eat meat and fat and all that other stuff. You can't just not eat anything that is slightly unhealthy. Isnstead of being a vegetarian, just make smart choices and eat fresh foods whenever possible. I don't think being a vegeatrian is really all that healthy to begin with if you cut out a whole major food group...

Being vegetarian is no harm. We become more intelligent, smart and bright in our life. We are saving the voices by being a vegetarian. TO prosper in life, we have to do good things. And we know that only good things happen to good people. Lets us be vegetarians, pure at heart and let the animals lead their lives. The time will come for them to die and htey will die, decay and remain under the ground. God has already planned. So let us try to live up to his expectation. Let us utilize our life and let others lice their life and save the life innocent animals.

I strongly disagree. Humans are naturally omnivores, and turning into vegetarians or vegans is against our nature. Also is really damaging for health. Why is it ok that carnivore and omnivore animals of other species eat other animals but not for humans? It's very hypocrite to think like that but then saying "but hey, lions have to live, I'm completely ok with them hunting other animals and eating them while they're still in pain". Other animals have the right to eat us, as there are many predators stronger than human beings, let's not forget that

We are not omnivores - our entire make up from our teeth, through to our stomachs, through to our intestines, etc are all very similar to herbivores & humans have bastardized this. I've given my detailed arguments on each of these points in other discussions I've responded to. Have you seen the reports by Cardiologist William C. Roberts? His conclusion is a very definite "Humans aren’t physiologically designed to eat meat"! Let's compare a carnivore & an herbivore: A carnivore has a short intestinal tract, which reaches about three times its body length. An herbivore’s & human's intestines are about 12 times its body length. Both humans & herbivores get vitamin C from their diets (carnivores make it internally). Both humans & herbivores sip water, not lap it up with their tongues like carnivores. Both humans & herbivores cool their bodies by perspiring (carnivores pant). Humans & herbivores have little mouths in relation to their head sizes, unlike carnivores, whose big mouths are all the better for “seizing, killing and dismembering prey,” argues nutrition specialist Dr. Milton R. Mills. People and herbivores extensively chew their food, he says, whereas swallowing food whole is the preferred method of carnivores and omnivores. Humans lack the natural abilities to be good hunters. We are nowhere near as fast & have no claws like predators. There's much more, as I've shown elsewhere in other discussions I've responded to, but you get the picture. In response to your point about our teeth, our incisors were not designed for tearing flesh any more than those huge incisors of a gorilla. What does a gorilla use them for? I think you know the answer! Tearing the flesh off fruits - not animals! Our teeth are like those of a herbivore, both in structure, having no jagged edges, etc & in number.

"People and herbivores extensively chew their food, he says, whereas swallowing food whole is the preferred method of carnivores." That sentence ran on into further detail; thought I'd correct it now so you didn't get the wrong idea!

what ever you do, doesn't change a nature law. what ever you say, doesn't change what god create. you not need meat for your food. maybe you not need a big energy to work. but not for other people. i think you have learn it at school.

I agree, for as long as what one consumes should contain the basic food groups and food combination needed by the person on a day-to-day basis. It would be bad if vegetarianism would result in malnutrition and its side effects. So a balanced diet is still necessary in vegetarianism.

yea it is true. Moreover, Buddhist believes that killing is a sin and all of us are afraid to commit sin. Even then, many Buddhist are non-vegetarian. We are so proud to coll ourselves non-vegetarians. We are so proud to take meet everyday in our meal. WE are busy in our won materialistic life. We don't bother about others. IF we try asking people their favourite dish, no one will be there to day beans, carrots etc instead we will find people telling that chicken chilli, pork, beef, etc are their favourite.. As you have rightly pointed out i think we have balanced diet in vegetarianism too.

Yes tenraj I am a newly wed at becoming a vegetarian since last year 2010. I tried it for lent and I haven't gone back since. I too was petrified beyond belief that the new lifestyle would consist of only salads however, since (thank goodness for internet communities)then I found several information that pertained to the basics of getting the proper nutrients from other sources rather than the alternative. I do indulge in all types of seafood as the main source of protein however I find during the course of the week alternating between fish and tofu and other sources. Since my decision, I feel phenomenal and I wish there was another word that tops the previous feeling. My mind is clearer, I sleep a lot of better and feel lighter and although I do cross over and eat tortilla chips once in a blue moon, I love it. Additionally I enjoy cooking more this time around. And my favorite food would have to be sushi, and anything that contains salmon. Yummy .. :-D

God made humans superior animals for a reason, I think being a vegetarian results in malnutrition and will end in a shorter life. Every vegetarian I have ever seen as been super skinny in result of malnutrition from vegetarianism. Fish eat other Fish, animals eat other animals. It is natural and part of the food chain. If being a vegetarian is so right and eating meat is wrong, why do other animals eat other animals?

It's good but I wouldn't become a total vegetarian. I'd go pesco-vegetarian instead, that's fish and vegetables combination. I suppose it depends on people on what they want to be. I'd go full vegetarian if vegetables are always available here at home. My dad buys mostly processed foods. I'm on a diet so I'd cut my usual intake of those processed foods and ate bread most of the time instead.

Even if we are unable to become complete vegetarian, it is important that we control eating meats. Vegetarianism is the only good thing that is happening on our earth besides the developments and modernization. Many people argue that by consuming meat we get all sources of vitamins, proteins, fats, etc. Vegetarians are weak becuase they have created in their minds. But actually non vegetarians are the people suffering from different kinds of diseases and leading unhealthy life. Meat is the source of all the diseases. Instead of consuming meat, if we eat vegetables and fruits, we are not susceptible to such diseases. Being vegetarians, we will not only safe life but also lead a healthy life. Just because animals cannot talk and express their feelings, it does not mean that we should be dumb and deaf and slaughter hem. Let us prove that we are humans.
