At lat some good news for Indian team battered by much improved and well prepared English side and the English conditions. Sehwag will join the team tomorrow ready to play the practice match on Aug.'5 against Northamptonshire. Hopefully Gambhir and Zaheer will also be ready before third test beginning on 10th August at Edgbaston. The conditions at Edgbaston is also reported to be not as hostile as at Lords or at Trent Bridge. With Sehwag, Gambhir and Zaheer Indian team would be altogether different. Hopefully they will salvage some pride by winning at least one test and drawing other thereby retaining the No.1 position they are holding at the moment. They however have not played like No.1 team in two tests they have played so far, surrendering all the advantage they gained in initial stages of the match. Hopefully this will change in remaining part of the tour for some consolation to the die hard fans of Indian team like me.

It is good that shewag is joining the team but i think it will made no difference till our middle order improve and bat well mostly raina and dhoni Bowling is another factor of concer and is needed mostly. As far zaheer and gambhir is if they join then INDIA will have aboost. I think if the trio join the team will be strong but performance is needed and not the big names.

Hi rajeev, Sehwag,if he is in form, alone is sufficient to boost the moral of the team. Only question is how fit he is after the operation and how far he will be able to adopt to the conditions there after a big lay off is to be seen. It is not easy for anybody to be in top form straight away after such long lay off due to injury. Let us all pray for him.

Shewag is one of the best opening batsman, there is no doubt about that. But he should go through the fitness test.If he is not fit 100 per cent,I think team should not let him play.Because its a matter of his carrier. If he his fit, then its a good news for team India. He has the capability to destroy any strong team bowling attack. Hope he will be fit and bring glory back for team India.

Yes divkar you are right that India did not play like no 1 team I have felt one thing no team in the world has been too much successful without a good opening pair if opening pair did not give a good starting it is difficult for the others to follow and mentally pressure builds up that's what happened for India I feel India should play well with sehwag's presence.

Thank you sabhari. Let us hope Sehwag is fully fit and the trusted opening pair of Sehwag and Gambhir give India a solid start. Indian batting line up then will look entirely different than the bundle of nerves they are at the moment.

Your opinion is good to some extent, sabhari. If you have followed the scores of England innings barring their 1st innings in the first test every innings of theirs were in tatters till they lost 6 or 8 wickets. Yet the made 500+ runs in the 1st innings in the second test. What can be the reason? Our players played spiritless in the second innings, not even like any regional side.

At last some good news!!! Sehwag may not be a straight away hit...but he brings some charm and freshness to the dressing room as well which is sorely lacking. And if he succeeds!!!! That will be a dream come true for all Cricket fans not just the Indian fans... However, Zaheer is still doubtful and he should play only if fully fit.... India should drop Harbhajan and Mukund and bring in Sehwag and Gambhir... True, this will deplete the bowling, some would argue, but tell me, isn't Yuvraj a better bowler than Bhajji??? And batting will become very very strong...

The return of Sehwag, Zaheer and Gambhir will no doubt strengthen the team India. The team is already receiving flak in addition to the crushing defeats in both the tests so far. The analysis of the scorecards show that the team played so badly, particularly in the batting, that they did not deserve to draw even, let alone win. All of us supporters of Indian team are hoping, wishing and blessing the team to do well in the remaining tests. But looking at the way the batsmen perished to short pitched rising deliveries they have very little chance. The team England are going with full confidence galloping with the tails up! Yes. They are a very much improved team. The pace trio of Anderson, Broad and Bresnan have shown that they are unplayable. Broad and Bresnan have also shown they can bat very well and rescue the team from utter hopeless situations. Under those circumstances we can only hope for a miracle. No doubt our pacemen did a splendid job, but where are the spinners that could stem the rot. No. My friends, something is totally going wrong. India has very slim chance of doing anything better. Sorry for giving pessimistic opinion. But we have to look at the facts too keeping our sentiments aside for a while. I too hope Zaheer's entrance will give some edge to our bowling to the lower order English batsmen, and Sehwag and Gauti will boost the batting. Even the other batsmen should learn how to tackle the bowling strategy being used by team England.

Hi hanuma, In cricket the batting or bowling is only as good as the opposition allows them to be. We have to see how the bowlers perform if and when the player like Sehwag attacks them. We only wish Sehwag gets into his groove early from long lay off and give India solid opening which they require so badly. As about your pessimism, I would like to remind you that India has an history of bouncing back miraculously when the critics write them off. I am confident that India would bounce back this time also. A billion good wishes are behind them.

It definately will be a boost to Team India and may solve some of the many problems that they are facing in regards to injury. Sehwag has been out for a long and has also missed the opening two tests of the ongpong series that England have won. Sehwags inculsion depends on many factors and the most important being his fitness on match day and also his overall fitness. I dont know why I feel this but I think that even though Sehwag may not be fullly recovered India is calling him as a desperate measure to save themselves from humiliation. They are the number one team and have gone down two nil to England and both the defeats have been big ones. India is definately trying to find solutions and by calling Sehwag I hope that it improves some of the situation..

Thank you keenan. The practice match scheduled for day after tomorrow will reveal the fitness of sehwag. We should not expect too much as far as form is concerned but if he shows his full fitness it will be more than sufficient to give the moral booster to Indian batting line up.

Absolutely! It boasts the team when the team is very low after the crushing defeats at the Lords and Trent Bridge. Hopefully they will show the character and play out of their skin and bring back the lost smile on many faces. When the regular openers are back in the form of Sehwag and Gambhir, the batting becomes a real strong with the likes of Dravid, Laxman and Sachin coming behind. For the first two tests, we have asked dravid to open the Innings which is really a bad decision, because if gets out early then the entire batting has to be taken care by Laxman as these two are the players with which the entire batting rotates. Here, Dravid is being asked to open and all the pressure falls on him, on the top of it he has Mukund on the other end who is pretty new to these circumstances. Hopefully, the fate of the Indian team changes by the arrival of most needed opening pair: Sehwag and Gambhir. This really hurts me when I type, saying that I really do not want Hardbhajan for the rest of the series as he has nothing to do but to give hundreds of runs every innings when he bowls. There should be Amit Mishra in the playing eleven who can turn the ball more than the frontline spinner. If Zaheer is also back, then it is an added advantage, I have no idea how is the series going, am sure drawing the series is more than a uphill task. Winning two matches on the trot against England is questionable, lets see what will be the final outcome. Go India Go!!!

Hi Santoshkumar, Nice analysis of whole situation. There was a nice sentense said by Harsha Bhogle during the second test in eferrence to shifting of key players from their usual positions. It said " we should not schedule our priorities but prioritize our schedule". What he meant to say was that our whole batting power depends on our key players Dravid, Sachin and Laxman. We should not tamper with their positions to maintain the solidity of our patting prowess. Shifting Dravid from one down to opening and Laxman from 5 to 3 we have disturbed our whole batting strength. As about replacing Harbhajan with Amit, I agree with you we have got to take this hard decision and rest Harbhajan and allow him to get back to his form. We have to really hope that Sehwag will be fit and in his element from the word go. It is too much to ask.

First of all I do not think Lords and Trent Bridge pitches were hostile. It was poor batting display by players like Dhoni, Mukund, Harbhajan, Praveen Kumar and even Sachin. When players like Prior, Broad and Bresnan can score more than 60 runs and that too very quickly will it be difficult for Dhoni or Raina or Yuvaraj or Harbhajan to score runs freely, no. They are playing defensive batting. The logic is simple, openers have to play defense cricket and stick on crease until the ball gets old, so that swing will come down. Then the remaining batsmen has to come and score quickly. But this never happened in the case of India when they were batting. In the second test, England were struggling at 128-8 and suddenly from no where came this Staurt Broad and scored a 60 odd runs in very quick manner. Swann too supported him and 100 odd runs were made. Indian batsmen were in the similar situation in the second innings and no one is standing at the other end when Sachin is trying to build a big innings. It was hopeless batting I would say and India till now haven't crossed the 300 runs. Harbhajan Singh is not fit on English conditions, he is good on Indian pitches but he will not make any difference with his spin on English conditions. I am happy for Sehwag's return to the test team but it is too late for him to arrive in this series. I wonder what if Laxman, Dravid and Sachin retire, Can players like Dhoni, Raina, Yuvaraj, Mukund, Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli and Rohit sharma make Indian batting look decent in Test matches? What is the BCCI planning for the future? How many more years Indian batting will depend on Sachin, Laxman and Dravid? Indian bowling attack is heavily depending on Zaheer Khan and if he is not playing then Indian bowling attack is struggling. I wonder why bowlers like Tyagi, etc were not tried on pitches were swing and pace is there. I feel selectors approach too is like reservation system, W Saha is picked ahead of players like Rohit Sharma, etc.

It is good that Shewag is joining to our Team India and we can improve our batting. We can solve our opening problem and defeate England team but for it our middle order should be improve and first thing dhoni should confin his form but what will be for boling can they take 20 wicket i think they can not so Zaheer khan should come back in the team
