What does true love look like?

True love - when a "meant to be" couple find each other and develop a love of fairy tale proportions. True love is a lasting love that holds two people together no matter what - at least according to popular definition. When we think of true love, we might think of the time when the magical couple see each other for the first time, or of the tenderness that comes after. My question is, what does true love look like beyond the fairy tales? What does it look like during the times between kisses of passion? When two people love each other very much, what does it look like in everyday life? Obviously an average couple isn't going to be able to afford candlelight dinners and beautiful getaways every day, so true love must show itself in other ways.

Chemistry is what is happening when the couple sees eachother for the first time. I think true love comes from communicating on valid issues before committing and the love comes from the respect and caring that comes from two friends finding one another and being happy through all of the above.

Communication and clarity comes before commitment and respect, eh? Makes sense. :)

I think so. You have to communicate with someone to see if you respect them and hopefully before you commit to them.

it is hard to say, in the meantime it is so simple. True lvoe is a felling that you wholeheartedly treat your lover well, tolerant him or her as matter of course and support eachother always.

True love looks like this on the inside: http://www.pictures-of-cats.org/images/happy-cat.jpg Or, in more mundane terms, it's never having to worry about being loved. It's always being able to smile, no matter what happens. It's arguments that end quickly, in laughter. It's laughing 'til it hurts about stupid stuff no one else gets. It's hearing "thank you" every time you make your other half a cup of coffee. It's a smile every time you pass. It's a surprise gift for no reason. It's a hug and a kiss first thing in the morning, even if you feel like crap. It's sacrificing whatever's necessary to make the other person smile. It's a shoulder to cry on. It's a hand to hold. It's a shared bank account and not bothering to count who spends what. It's not arguing over who holds the remote control. Man, I could do this all day. Basically, it's feeling like that cat feels, on the inside. All furry and warm and happy and content.

I should point out that I am not furry. Inside or out. Just so you know.

Yeah. I've always had a reactive personality, not a proactive one. Give me a prompt and I'll produce stuff like that (or this: http://scrawlbug.com/2009/03/26/prologue/) but without a prompt I'm like a blunt pencil. Kinda pointless.

for me true love looks like a ice cream in the middle of the dessert it will satisfy your hunger,it will make you happy, at it will make you forget the heat of the dessert. i am one of those who cannot afford the gorgeous candlelight dinners, but what i do is i do everything i can to create a wonderful dinner. and i am lucky to have a partner who values everything that i do for her. love is blind. you should not on what you see, but on what you feel.

you should not concentrate on what you see, but on what you feel

That is a great metaphor! I congratulate you on your partner. And I agree - love is not something visible to eye, so it should not be totally measured by what the eye sees. It is in invisible thing most felt with the heart. :)

True love is when the partner is there even if you've lost your house, your health, your car, you mind, and the fairies.

The biggest thing you will realize everyday with your true love is that you are never lonely when you are around them, NEVER. Conversation is always good even in the arguments. True love is wonderful even through the roughest of times. You come to know that no one else fits better. Look deep into their eyes and you get the feeling of HOME. THat's just the plain ole everyday stuff. I better not get into the passion.

That's a great definition - to feel home and always have a good conversation. The absence of strife and selfishness. :)

Im not sure how does it look like. But I do know how it feels like. When you're in love, you are inspired to do everything. And when you are broken, you can't function. In other words, love affects everything of us, our attitude, looks, goals and our perspective as a human being.

I want to say that love is blind. When we call it as a a love? well, We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and we call it love.

Honestly, I don't really think that it's possible to define what true love is. A lot of it has to do with chemistry between two people. I think that you just know. Somehow I think that you just know.

I would say true love is not meant in definition or a feeling practical or fairy tales. True love is not a measure of each day or a particular times. Candle lights or other expensive stuffs are also not necessarily a true love. So whats true love..you cannot live a second without your loved one on earth! Not killing oneself, but its natural mean.

So in true love it is the person, and not the trimmings, that matter most. :)

True love can be seen in a couple who has been together for so many years, yet you will see them still caring and loving each other. Despite the wrinkles and the failure of their faculties, they are still there for each other, no matter what. True is for couples who despite the difficulties in life, they remain to be together until their last breath.

Life when shared with somebody, could by itself a test of true love. Specially, when there are children by the couple, the life they lead could be a test of their love for each other.

Would you say life in full is the test of whether love is true or not? :)

True love is a love full / full. It means you love someone with all its shortcomings. So .. is it true to love this life change? Right! If you loved / love wholeheartedly, you try to change yourself to become a better person as expected your partner.

I think that true love just shows itself in a couple respecting each other every day, and doing small things for each other to make each other happy - just little things like leaving a note on your partner's pillow in the morning, or making them lunch for the day, or cleaning up the kitchen even though it wasn't your mess. These things may seem so small, but they can make a huge difference in a relationship.

true love to me is when you look at your partner... no matter how long you two have been together... even thought they may make you really mad or upset... true love is when you look at them and all you see is everything you love about them... all you do is smile :) hope this helps

Are you in date or not? I've been dating since October 8th, 2009. She is my first love. And I still love her very very much. I know I love her and she loves me. We haven't got any candlelight dinners. Well, come back to the question. What does true love look light? It looks like a butterfly fluttering in your stomach. Everytime you are brought back by it to think about her, call her and miss her.

Congratulations on your love! :) It does seem that love is a never ending desire to be with the person - and to think of them despite the distance. :)

I don't think I love looks an exact way. My grandparents always scream at each other but when my grandmother goes fruit shopping and spends thirty minutes picking out peaches so my grandfather can have something sweet and healthy to eat in the morning, I know they are in love. Couples show their love in many different ways but what I think is most important is that they show each other they care.

As every one said it is a great feeling and very hard to describe. True love is that when you pray for the happiness of your partner without considering he is with you or not, true love is that when your only wish is to be with him, when you feel him/her even in his/her absence and much more but yes, it is very hard to define in words.

If it is not true love then would you say the feelings would grow weaker when there is distance between the two lovers? :)
