I'm a newbie in this site and wanted to start my discussion with this topic. I'm a nursing graduate already for a year and until now, i don't know to which path i would go. I'm confused on what to pursue, the dream of having a business which is faraway related to the field i studied for 4 years in college or pursuing the course, nursing, i sacrificed and studied for 4 years. Though, i love the way i helped and cared for people but as i assessed my ability and skills, there is still something better for me. Really confused on what to do.

i think just follow whatever you think will be best for you, don't force yourself to do what you don't love to do. goodluck whatever you decide:)

Hmmmm.. If there is an opportunity for you to work even if it's not course related, I would suggest that you grab it instead of just staying in the house or whatever. :) You have to work, just to get an experience. :) Good luck..

It's pretty normal to feel that way. I felt the same thing after graduating from college, like I don't know what to do next. As you've said you have assessed your ability and skills, so now you have to determine what you do best. It may be related to nursing or probably not. Just know what your strengths are at this time and play on that. Make a living with your abilities and skills. Then probably when you've earned a bit of money, you can put up your own business.

confused after college is a natural thing, in this case, you must be sure what should be your choice. Don't see the length of time which you spend to become a nurse, but see future and your steps because in this life, only you which have the right to determine and control your future

I do agree with you. But sometimes thinking the years i spent with nursing makes me realized that it was a waste of time. But everything has a purpose. In the end, the important thing is to reach the right future for us and be successful in any ways. thanks :)

I think this question is easy to answer! The only answer is that what's your interest? You have two choice, but which one you like more, interesting in it more?then, the answer is clear. In fact, many people are so disappointed with their job, because they don't like their work,so,you have to choose, choose which you like and enjoy, then, you can find the answer is so easy

Well..are you currently working in a hospital?Running your own business is good, but you should know and have adequate information about what kind of business you`d like to set up. Have you made decision about this yet?You should start running your own business from something that is your passion

well, i guess pretINAS we seems riding in the same boat, i am a registered nurse way back june 2007 and i work as a volunteer nurse for two years then but here i am for almost 5 years never had slot for real work as a nurse well i guess female nurses are more have opportunities rather than the opposite one....nursing career is quite a noble profession although a lot of way to go before u can reach the peak of its alluring promising success..lots of exam and seminars to be taken a lot of years to be down and a lot of different experience to gone thru and a lot of people you'll touch their lives or either their life touches you in very special ways...but i guess if you are confused in just what i am right now...just always listen with your heart..go with what you makes happy... i am a nurse by profession by an artist in passion....go with your hearts says and what makes you think you'll be happy and interested...

your definitely right, ralphbrian. Just hoping for the best. If nursing is really for me then go for it, then if not, explore other stuffs. so you're not in the field of nursing anymore? or still undergoing some training and seminars related to nursing? :)

That is what usually happens to most nursing graduates. It seems like the prospects of working abroad have dimmed and nursing graduates could not be absorbed in our own hospitals here. So they volunteer without pay and the situation is being abused by some hospitals who ask these graduates to pay in spite of the work they render.

I am at the verge of completing my four years degree. Even I am not sure how life is gonna be after I graduate. But in your case there should not have been any confusion. You have done nursing and that is an excellent course. There are scopes and the work you are going to do is a good one. It is gonna be a great job. You should join some hospital and start working there instead of trying to start business or else.
Well that is just what i think. We must discuss with others but finally it is ourselves who must decide for our own goodness.

Nursing is fun though, and i enjoyed it during my school years. But this time, i dont feel being on this field anymore. I joined some training related to nursing, enjoyed but at the end of the session, i can still feel that there's something missing. Time will come that God will just show to me what is right for me. thanks :)

I think that just about every graduate struggles with exactly the same things that you are struggling with, so don't think that you are alone! The truth is that at the end of the day, it often makes little difference what qualifications you have. Education and qualifications are always useful things to have and can certainly help to make you more attractive to potential employers, but I think that the large majority of people end up doing something that has nothing at all to do with what they studied! So my advice would be to not worry too much - follow your heart and accept whatever opportunities come your way, and I am sure that you will soon find your true calling :)

I feel sad and confused because most of my classmates are already in the field of their profession. But the important thing is you're happy on what you're doing and i guess i should find that happiness and definitely would match with my true calling. thanks :)

most graduates often got to a point where the course they finish in college seems irrelevant to the things they want to do in their life. you see true success doesn't always be about how much money you earned or to what position you climbed to. its the happiness and contentment that you feel inside that defines whether you live your life to the fullest. all i can say is that do what you think is the things that makes you happy so that you will never regret it in the end. :D

Hi pretiNAS, nowadays most jobs that falls from those who are already graduated does in line with their course. You can start on what is nearer to your heart and if you think that you can handle your new path to take then go for it. Do not think on what course you were graduated, do not think of others negative feedback.

One approach is to use your nursing opportunity for awhile. Get a little experience, earn some money and do more research and thinking about your business interests. Then at sometime in the future you will be ready to leave the nursing behind and be in a better position for success in your business.

I think our college life always very good life. But after colleges there are many problems in front of us. And the biggest problem of job. Because there are many person who get job after completing their study but also there are some person who can’t get job after their college life. So that is a very big question for them because now how can they survive their life without any jobs. So I think now their struggling life starts after completing their college life.
