A friend to me is someone who you can depend on and trust. In most situations, even more than your own family members. Some may say that blood is thicker than water but I say not in all cases. Sometimes you may have a friend who will treat you much better than your parents and or your siblings. It use to be taht your family will look out for you and make sure that no harm comes to you but these days it is your family that you many not be able to trust. I am sure that there are many people who would rather turn to friends because they can depend on them and trust them much more than there own family it is scary but it is true. I myself can honestly say that I would trust anyone else with my money but my mother. These days a friend is like your family it just goes to show that you dont have to have the same blood running through your vein.

You may be an American! I am a Chinese. I have to admit we have a very big difference in viewing family and friend. You said in most cases, family members are not to be trusted but friends are. I don't agree. I am brought up in China and educated with my tradition. I know that my parents are the most beautiful people in the world. They are! In most cases, most people will agree with me. As to my siblings, of course, they are the most trustworthy people in the world. If anyone that lives in the world wants to harm me, they will surely be the last one. It is not possible. Friendship is nourished by communication over time. On regard of that, family members have spent much more time on that and have overcome difficulties, enjoyed life together since the day we are born. Family is our harbour.

A friend can be anybody who shares the same thoughts, interests like you. But she/ he should not be afraid to tell you when you are wrong. She/He doesn't need to be with you all the time. Coz a friend will remain as a friend regardless of time and space.

True. My family is having a big problem now with my sister and due to the greediness of one we decided to divide the properties we inherited from our parents including the two companies. It was painful for me but there was nothing i can do. Now we just deal with each other harshly and i'm so disappointed in my sister. I have severed my ties to her and unless he get rid of the scumbag boyfriend of hers i won't be talking to her at all.
Nowadays i still have friends that i can really depend on and i trust but they are far from me. I have my husband who's my best friend from the time we met and whom i trust more than anybody in the world.

It is true, but in most cases, some friends will be your good friend when they need you. But when you need their help in return, they would just disappear or ignore you.
When you are in trouble, most of the time your family members are the ones who back you up and help you. Of course they would not want to see you get into trouble.
So I guess not all friends are true friends. And not all family members are considered bad.
Why I say that is because I have a sister who is very understanding and whenever she's able, she will help and I will help her in return. It all depends on the individual.
You are just lucky that you meet a friend like that but I am lucky to have a sister and a few friends like that. But I also have friends who ignores me when I need their help.

Hello.
This is very nice.
a true friend always knows.
a friend is always with you in difficult and good times.
We should have such friends who have to rely on trust and they are really special for us.

hello,
Yes, you have a point there and I agree. But I realize that nowadays having a real friends is really hard to find. right? Because most of the time they are just using us. Something like that. But now that I still have true friends I am cherishing them and taking care of them. and I dont want to lose them anymore because as what I said it is really hard to find a friends like them.

Its really rare for me to find real real friends now.. Even the one I thought who is my best friend talk bad things behind my back... and that makes her not my best friend anymore..
I have some sayings for you my friend! :) Hope you like it..
A friend is someone who is there for you when he’d rather be somewhere else.
Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things.
See ya! :)
Happy myLotting!

Hi! I agree. There are a lot of friends in our circle, but there are only a few whom you can consider true friends. Those are the people you can truly lean on, you can share your secrets with, someone who you can truly trust. And it's not just about lending money (some people think it is, unfortunately). They are the people closest to you and your life other than your family. As I would say, family shapes your being, but your friends define who you are as a person.
