For the fast few weeks, I've seen it on TV or even here in the internet about some news of the rampant selling of the Tokay Gecko (or TUKO). I can't believe my eyes and ears that this lizard cost A LOT.. Even MILLIONS. At first, I cant believe it myself coz i've seen numbers of it when we had a bivouac back in high school. And it was just nothing. But now, even some of my neighbors and old friends approaches me and was asking me if I had one.. I was "LOL, what the heck?".. To add that, even a direct buyer also approaches me and offer me a hefty amount if I can get him atleast 300grams of tokay. It was so surprising. I was so shock. Any of you here got an experience like this? Is this the talk on your town?

My friend told me that a Briton National was buying tuko that weighs at least 300 grams for PhP16,000.00. She said that she has a neighbor who was able to catch 13 tuko but only 3 passed and were bought. I was so happy to tell my husband about it because there were tukos who always gets into our house. We vow that we will catch one too. However, the next day it was in the newspaper that DENR will be penalizing PhP100,000.00 or imprisonment for those they will catch selling tukos. That stopped our desire to catching tuko .

That's the safest thing to do. Or atleast, do not sell it to someone whom you dont even know.

Actually this business has been around since last year I think, I was kinda suspicious bout it since I haven't encounter a real buyer, just some hear say and people posting in the net. I was sad about this, even in my province (Leyte) they were hunting for tuko and when I visited our ancestral house, there was no tuko left. I believe Gecko do not cure HIV or any ailments. I pity those Geckos.

I heard it first from my mom. I was also shock. I don't believe that it can really cure serious kind of diseases as what they've been telling in the news. I was also shocked on the prizes. It's really very expensive. I had never read or encounter any scientific explanation on how it is that Tokay Gecko or TUKO could give health benefits and heal such diseases. It should be test scientifically.

i heard that story in the salon where i got my hair styled. because even they were informed that they can have a lot of money but getting geckos in their house and they even told me they had a good time trying to catch one. I know of a house that has a lot of geckos that they raise so that they can sell it.

I have heard it only from the news and it was shocking knowing that they will pay up to Millions. But to be honest with it, its now an endangered species. Hope they will preserve it.

Tokay Gecko is not yet considered as endangered species, rather a protected wildlife coz of the rampant catching. It will be endangered if human will continue to capture species of those kind..

Hello there! Yes, it is a talk in our town now. I believe that the species found in our provinces is not the one that they are looking. Had you seen the photos? The one that they are looking has a yellow spot. The one that is found in our provinces I believe will not grow up to 300grams. Since it is like a craze nowadays, some people are doing this business as a way to get money from other people. I mean, some do this to bogus and not so good. I do not believe that anyone would buy hundreds of thousand and even millions bjust buying "tuko". if you know a direct buyer, send me a message. i might change my mind and I will be the one to find one. :) But really, I don't believe it!
