Last week, when I went to my cousin's house and her Ninong went also there to visit them. Along with her Ninong is a 10 year old boy, born here but was raised in London and recently had his circumcision and will leave the country by next week. I had some time to chat with the boy while watching tv, I stopped at Nick channel to watch Spongebob Squarepants and I asked him if he watch it also, I was shocked by his response that he doesn't watch that kind of cartoon anymore. He watch The SImpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad which is I think kinda violent sometimes. He really loves those cartoons even if it has some violent scenes, he told me that Nick channel is for kids and that he is no longer a kid after his circumcision.
After that, I asked myself if I am too old for this to watch, I am 24 years old now and I like watching Spongebob because it's kinda funny especially Patrick Starfish who sometimes silly and stupid. Watching it relieves my stress. How about you people? Do you still watch cartoons or you are too old for that stuff?

The other night My partner and I were baby sitting my niece and he seemed to enjoy watching IN the night garden with my niece. I have enjoyed watching chinese Teletubbies with my 3 year old niece (I don't speak Chinese) but I don't know if it would have been as interesting in English!
I think it is good to watch these shows sometimes so you can relate to little relatives, I also learnt a wiggles song years ago when my oldest niece was young. I have since sung that same song for my other nieces and nephews when they visited, so it came in handy.

That's kinda cute, I haven't watch one episode of Teletubbies yet, but it was a hit for toddlers and preschools back when I was in highschool.
The last children's show that I'd watch with puppets or mascots was Lambchop's Play Along, I think it was in the early 90's. I kinda miss that show. =)

It's always nice to watch cartoons with childrens, sometimes the maid's son come to my house and he like to watch cartoons too, he like to watch Ben 10. But, I have to say that, for me, would be pretty hard to watch Teletubbies with someone, because that have to be the worst show that I have ever seen.

I don't think I'll get over cartoons, at the time of Voltes 5 and astroboy, where black and white TV is the in thing and when we have to flock to our neighbor's house just to watch TV, I think cartoons mesmerizes all kids and that feeling stays with them till they grow up. Adults may not be as amazed to a cartoon show as kids are but the happy feeling is still there. I guess that's the child in all of us.

Hi nytrisco!
I think there's nothing wrong with adults still enjoying cartoons. Or in that case, wholesome cartoons like Spongebob. I also watch Spongebob because it really makes me laugh and laughing is good. Both for young and adults. And I believe in the saying that there will always be a child in all of us.
I do think there's something wrong with that kid. It's probably his environment where he is growing up. The adults around him probably watch those cartoons, too. And that kid was probably told that he is not a kid anymore after his circumcision. I think it's not good. A 10-year old boy is still a boy. There's so much childish things he should enjoy in life, and not enjoying those violent, adult-oriented cartoons.

Nope, you're never too old to watch this kind of stuff!
I've got a few years on you and I still love to watch cartoons. As it is I watch Qubo with my youngest (he's 11). We enjoy watching a lot of cartoons that are on there.
Happy mylotting!
PS You got my curiosity going. Why would this boy think he's no longer a kid after being circumcised? If that were true most boys would be mature shortly after birth as that's when it's normally done...at least here in the US anyway.

Thanks for the response sacmom =)
Wow, you also enjoy watching it with your kids? When I was young, my mom wouldn't stay beside me to watch cartoons with me, so I was all alone watching those old school cartoons.
Here in the Philippines, we traditionally circumcise kids from the age 10-13 though we could request circumcision right after birth too, it depends with the parents and the doctor who handle them. I think the answer to your question is we usually tell boys here who will undergo circumcision that they will become a man after they had circumcise and you will never be a man if you haven't had one. Just to boost their confidence before their circumcision. And since it is when puberty starts they will develop changes in their voice and hairs, it will also contribute and they will think that they are really not a kid anymore. Just like that.

Nobody's too old to watch something on tv. Honestly, I even enjoy these Disney cartoons (Cinderella and the like). More importantly, we can t something valuable from these cartoons.

Count me in! I love watching spongebob, Dora, Mr. Bean name those cartoons considered to be child-like at our age. But I love them. I get relax and unwind. I just love to be a child. I think age doesn't matter as long as it helps you such as unwinding and relaxing.

No one is too old to watch cartoons. They are for everyone who likes to have an entertaining show , devoid of violence.
I would always watch cartoons, specially Dora and Handy Manny ,together with my 2 nieces, whenever i go to our hometown to visit my parents and siblings. I enjoy them so much.
I like seeing the faces of my nieces light up whenever they watch cartoon shows.

Of course not, I watch cartoons too and I'm 23!
I prefer to watch Family Guy (one of my favorite TV shows), Simpsons, American Dad, Cleveland..but, sometimes, I watch cartoons too. This weekend had a marathon of Spongebob Squarepants and I watched a few episodes, but I have to say that I hate Patrick, he is too stupid and I don't think that he is a good example for the kids.

Me too, I enjoy those shows a lot. LOL. Some people really hates Patrick coz of his stupidity, I guess you're right that he is not a good example for the kids. And some kids do really hate him because they know how stupid he is. But for some people including me, I really like his character and that is the reason why I still watch Spongebob and makes me laugh. =)

No one is too old to watch cartoons. Consider it like visiting your childhood. Recent cartoons like the one you mentioned the boy watches is indeed funny but it has much adult content also and not good for every kid, though I also enjoy those shows. My all time favorite is the looney tunes show, I love bugs bunny.

Haha! me too, looney tunes is the best! It was the only cartoon that my dad wanted me to watch when I was a young. I also enjoy those shows too but I think it really needs some parental supervision when watching that kind of shows especially that kid is only 10 yrs old.

I'm in my late teens and I love cartoons, especially the good old ones such as Looney Tunes. Sponge Bob is hilarious! Who doesn't love Sponge Bob's quirkiness and his irresistible laugh? Kids these days are more into adult cartoons now. Some children's films even have content which should be more for an older audience. Kids just want to grow up faster these days.

Never too old!!! I myself enjoy watching cartoons. Fairytales like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and other new cartoons these days are still good and fun to watch. It is a good way of relieving stress I guess. It feels like a child once again giggling and laughing.
We are never too old to watch cartoons or animation.

hey, theres no such thing as getting older to stuff that you like.
I am a kid at heart so, Yes I watch cartoons too and spongebob is one of them. I like reading manga, watching cartoons and anime's and I watch movies made by pixar and disneys and I enjoyed them. So, if you love something and have fun doing that there no harm in doing things you like.
Yes, we're getting older but our hearts would always be youngER! :)

WOW! I'm 52 years old watching Spongebob and my dear favorite is Squidward. I watch all kind of kids programe. Always will! I have children and now grandchildren. There is no age restriction for watching cartoons. It might probably be that in between children they look down on each other for watching cartoons for younger children. They older children feel childish watching infant kids' programe. A good heartily laugh watching childrens' program make the day cheerful.
