Negativity Towards Christians

I know why some people have negative views towards Christians because I used to believe those views. My mom used to tell me bad stories about Christians, they are hypocrites, they lie, they are users, they always want money... the list could go on. Now that I have been in Church, I have came across some people that are like this, but not all Christians are what society thinks of them. People are people, just like at church, or at a job, or at school, or in a group of friends. You have some really good people, then you have the few bad seeds. The bad people misrepresent Christians as a whole. We are supposed to believe and follows the views of Christ. Christ even said he did not come to condemn the world, but to save it. I try to show compassion to all people, even from different religions because I know Christ would want to shine his love on them through me. If you read the Bible, Jesus is a cool guy, and some of us want to be just as loving and cool as he is!

Jesus is the greatest teacher and leader of all time:
Even Mahatma Gandhi follow Jesus' teachings. And based on the life we follow now, it is indeed based on His beliefs, teachings and values. We follow his network, the commandments, etc.
All religions have flaws and blemishes, none is perfect. All we have to do is respect each others beliefs.. :)

Christians seem to carry much negativity. Many innocent people have been killed by the Christian church, as well as in Holy wars. Christian Pastors, and Priests have been molesting Christian children for centuries. Christianity has had 2000 years to make a difference in the world, but has failed miserably.
I was born a Christian but gave it up over 60 years ago, and have never regretted my decision.

Unfortunately, there are child molesters all throughout this world; however, not all Christian Pastors and Priests molest children. That receives such negative publicity, but the media hardly speaks of the positive. There are Pastors and Priest out there that are great people, just like I have met great people that are Muslims, great Atheists, etc. I'm sorry you have had such a negative experience with Christianity. I have some negative experiences with all kinds of people too even fellow Christian believers, but I have held on to my faith. Maybe one day, God will let an awesome Christian cross paths with you, and you will see things in a different light. Take care and God bless!

I am not of a religion that chose God as a superpower, so you may not like what I have to say. But I've found with any religion supporting God, most members try their hardest to convert you. They give quotes to relate to everything that goes wrong and say if you were of God it wouldn't happen. And that's even though they are in debt, have gambling or addiction problems, or are not even following the bible themselves. Just because you attend church does not make you a better person. I have been reading the bible recreationaly and yes I do own three different ones. But I've found so many things that challenge the commandments of God. I'm not disrespecting the religion, it teaches a lot of good life lessons, but I'm not following a religion that contradicts itself. but as you said, every Christian is different, just as everyone is different. So you will have bad seeds, but my opinion on christianitys followers as a whole is that they need to follow their beliefs and leave others alone.

There are people says that Christians are not good. But the we want them to understand why do the church do that. If we follow Jesus footsteps in sharing His gospels to others I'm sure they will understand. The love for Jesus Christ gives us hope to be save from this world. He is the only way, the truth, and the light.

i don't really know what to say about this topic but I feel like I have to. I think those people who call negative things about Christians just experienced some bad things from the Christians, and you're right. Not all Christians are what people thought they are. It's just like how I think about the Muslim people. At first, I thought they're all terrorists and will bomb places but I know it not what they really are.

I'm a Christian and pretty much, it all depends on the individual regardless of religion. Christianity can sometimes be misinterpreted and because we are human, we have flaws. Jesus is a representation of an ideal figure which people strive to be like. The Bible is still a mystery and people develop their own beliefs based on what they understand from the text. As a result, there's always disputes amongst individuals. Really, it all depends on the person and what their interpretation of justice and life.

Hello redeemgurl, nice to meet you.
I really appreciate your views. You have elaborated the social problem of "discrmination".
I am not a Christian, but I do not feel negativity towards them. In fact some of my very very good friends are christians, I simply do noy know why people should think that people following another religion are generally bad.
You have talked about the common concept of "stereotypes". When people have limited experiences they tend to believe that a common class has a definite set of characteristics and no matter waht happens this stereotype will prevail. I think the stereotype problem can be solved by exposure and meeting people from that other class.

I definitely agree with you. And these people who judges people in general should learn that their attitude in judging other is negative too. That it makes them no good a person if they are that judgmental. We have different religions, but I never, or never will judge others. That is because no matter what our beliefs are we are all humans who makes mistakes and no one is perfect. One way to become a good follower of God if that's how they want it, I guess, is to leave other people alone and mind there own business. Because it is so unfair and hurting for others being judged when they know they are doing the right things.

I believe what you said above is right. There are always bad people and good people. We cann't use one to judge the whole. I'm not religious, but I have read Bible. I am deeply touched by the sayings and deeds of Christ. I really believe that Jesus is the son of God when reading it. I also want to be a guy as cool and loving as Christ, but it is really hard to practise in the real society.
